Don’t take this the wrong way, but in the last 6 months, you have had very minimal time to devote to fighting games. I mean, in all fairness, if you tried to learn just ONE new character, it would be a full plate for you.

This is unless of course you somehow changed your schedule around or won the lottery.

Again man, this is all love so please don’t take this the wrong way, but real life has been taking its toll on your practice time…so I’m humbly suggesting that you pick just ONE new character and stick to that until MWC comes out.

Or just mess around with everyone and we’ll take you off the official list.

Actually this is when the big switch up is going to happen. A lot of my time was tied up in looking for a new place to live and dealing with household stuff. Now we have a dishwasher, which as ridiculous as it sounds is going to free up a lot of time. 3-4 hours of my time a week that used to be spent doing dishes can now be spent practicing. We will no longer be living below those ridiculous kids which means while sleeping I won’t be getting woken up 4-5 times every time I’m trying to sleep which means I should be awake for practice quite a bit more.

Also it’s not like a ton of these characters are completely novel. I would surely surrender Dudley to the likes of james and brock but the reality is he hasn’t changed all that much and even certain moves like backswing blow that used to be a big part of my play style are now a bigger part of his. If you demand I pick my pony I’m going for Makoto. I never generally like to play girls but she’s a heavy hitter and I figure a country girl tomboy like her is an easy way to move into that gender.

Dude, sounds like a great plan…I’m not running this thing of course, but if you want to pick up Makoto (in addition to learning Dudley, no one is saying you can’t do that of course!) that is awesome.

Also, dude I miss playing your honda! I’m glad to hear you will be getting back to playing on the regular!

Fuck me, after reading the tentative character selection list, I was going to say don’t count on me for DeeJay, because I recently decided that I’m just going to play whoever is good. Yes, that’s right, I’m going to tier whore it up. Maybe not top tier, but high mid for sure.

And then I was gunna say for the sake of us learning matchups, I’d gladly learn Makoto. But Brian wants her, so he can have her

So basically what I’m saying is, I’ll learn DeeJay to help out everyone, but if I don’t like him, or he isn’t upper mid tier at the worst, I don’t plan on maining him. I’m gong to main whoever I play the best with, that at the same time gives me the best chance to win in tournaments, that isn’t Ryu because I don’t dig on zoning with fireballs. I’m just not very good at it to be honest. Then again, neither is Justin Wong, so that’s not so bad I suppose.

And as far as my list of characters I THINK I want to learn right now, it goes in this order:

1. Dudley (But that’s all James. Plus, I don’t know if I’ll even like him in SSF4. I mean, I love his character design, but I play Ken/Ryu in 3s and never really dug Dudley’s play style)
2. Makoto (Even though the only real plus I see in her gameplay right now, is out right damage, and she will have fun juggles off of her kick ultra. Other than that, I’m thinking solid mid tier for her)
3. DeeJay (again, now that he isn’t the same as he was when I played him at the Las Vegas Fight Club, I don’t see him being all that great either)

Maybes: Cody (but his walk speed is ASS), Guy (But I’ve already made an agreement with myself to not play another character with gimmicks), Hakan, T. Hawk (we’ll see on them, I don’t like grapplers often because I actually enjoy combos)

tl;dr version: Ok fine I’ll play DeeJay, but if I don’t like him or see him being a very strong character, I’ll drop him very fast and pick up someone else. Makoto will fit my playstyle best from what I’ve seen (Do the most damage that fastest, with the occasional throw mixup), but who knows, she might not fit me or be good enough for me to want to play either.

Oh yea, what time are we starting tonight, and is anyone going to be able to hook it up with a ride?

I’d like to help out the team on this one. I’ve been thinking about picking up the game since everyone else plays it. Unfortunately, I know jack shit about SF4 and I don’t have a 360/PS3 so I wont be owning SSF4

Dont worry yall Ill be learning pretty much everyone kinda like how I did in 4.

The characters imma learn most (besides dudley):

1. Hakan - imma make everyone hate his U2.

2. Cody - imma make everyone hate “hah ha!”.

3. Juri - imma make everyone hate this crazy biotch.

4. Thawk - hes gonna be good in this game.

5. Makoto - people gonna go flying into the air kung fu hustle style

But yeah I am definitely going to learn just about everyone and be able to use them (except for a few of yalls mains whome i dont like to play).

I got you on the ride issue, I’ll text you before I leave. Plan for sometime between 7-8.

As for who you pick up…you are a skilled enough player that even if you didn’t main DeeJay, I’m pretty sure you would be able to get his basic gameplan down in a hurry. That is really what I think Mike and I were hoping for…just to get exposed to all the new characters as much as we can.

So like…main who you want to and if you are willing to take one for the team and also put a bit of time into Deejay (or whoever), then that will just be doubly awesome.

I may find that Ibuki demands too much on the execution side, or I may just hate her playstyle (never sure till you put in the time). If that happens, then either I may be able to swap with someone, or I’ll just stick it out with her to help out the team.

Either way, I’m still maining Chun…the fact that she is getting some awesome new shit is just bonus.

Brock I was planning on giving Mike my car back later this afternoon after one last trip to the old place to pick up the samsung TV and he agreed to grab you and Christian. The plan is to get going around 7.

As bummed as I am for you not going to STL James I’m kinda glad I should have a chance to play you tonight.

Edit: OH NIU Nevermind then. Very nice party school. Have one for me.

Also I was planning to keep myself mostly if not entirely sober tonight, unless other people will partake of beverages with me. I’ve got one of the heineken mini kegorators thanks to mike’s lovely Christmas present and have only been able to bust it out once. If other people will have a beverage or two I’d be glad to pick up a mini keg, if no then I might forego drinks altogether tonight.

Second Edit: The reason why I was opting to try so many characters is because I usually try playing a bunch of different people and then whittle down who I’m enjoying playing. There always seems like characters I think look awesome to play at first don’t end up panning out for me. Take Rose for instance: I love seeing her onscreen and love fighting her but in no way can I play her I’ve triend and it ends up feeling like I’m playing just using my thumbs.

anyone got another monitor or TV they can bring, Pete is finally dropping by again and wants to play HDR and is offering to bring a 360 for it but as it stands we have:

A TV and system dedicated for PS2 games, the sony for TVC, the samsung for SFIV and Brock’s set-up dedicated for SFIV (unless you prefer or are willing to have HDR since I now know you play it).

Also whose planning on running brackets if we’re doing this ranbat style?

I need one of those old fashioned Akuma beatdowns! You should have seen how free I was to fucking Spriggan cause his Akuma 1) Plays totally different than yours. 2) His akuma is fucking GDLK.

This is good, if you learn Juri and we both work on Ibuki…we should have enough there to learn that match at least on its basic principals for MWC.
