Go read James’s post. He mentions us. I cried on the inside.

im dropping frank
hes too shitty
ill play him just for fun now
just pick up blade so that i can beat you consistently
lol.
Was that…was that an…INSULT!!! Okay…I see how it is.
thrown
lol just a little trash talk
oooo, james mentioned me too! “everyone else”
mike included both of you!
+1
That was a nice gesture James, it made me kinda feel like a jerk for not mentioning all you guys…but I figure you know how much I appreciate all the tips, patience, training, etc…
All you guys rock, this scene here in C/U is because of all of us, you guys built this and you should be proud.
Hehehe, I know, dude. :wgrin: I’ma getcha tonight, son. I’ll need a beautiful assistant to showcase my Blade prowess: you think Jun’s up to the task? Mwa-hahahahahahahahaha!!! :badboy:
Hey guys, can we get organized here on one issue?
We MUST absolutely ensure that when Super drops, we each dedicate ourselves to one new character so that we can cross train each other on all the matchups before MWC. I do NOT want to get lamed out by some fucking Makoto/Juri/THawk player who is using tricks I’ve never seen before.
I’m going to make a list in this post and keep it updated.
So far some of the new assignments are known:
**James - Dudley
Brock - Dudley, Deejay
Brian - Dudley
Chris - Ibuki
Mike - Adon
Dennis - ???
**
I want to list more names, but that seems to be the core group of us who attends tourneys.
James, Brian, et al - Can each of you also try to maybe pick up a second new character in addition to Dudley?
Needed still:
Hakan, THawk, Juri, Makoto, Cody, Guy.
Of course we will all still play our mains (except for Brock who seems to be happy to finally get that green monkey off his back) and learn the new details, but I personally feel we really MUST have full coverage over the new characters.
If that means I, or some of us have to learn a character we dont’ really like that much…we gotta do it anyway.
Who is with me?
I absolutely and completely agree with every word of this. In fact, Chris knows it’s true because he and I were discussing it over a cigarette the other night. We definitely need to know these characters; maybe not necessarily every match-up against them (that’s asking a lot in the time we’ll have) but at least how they play and handle. Besides, if we keep using our mains (Dictator, Chun, Akuma, etc.), then we’ll know the most important match-up anyway: our own match-up. I definitely think that this has to happen. It’s not an option if you guys plan on even making a dent at MWC. Who do you think people are going to be using? The new characters and their crazy, new, never-before-seen gimmicks.
I will personally volunteer for Adon (Chris knew I wanted him anyway lol). I mentioned wanting to use him as soon as I saw that he was going to be in SUPER. As far as any other characters go, I think we should try to distribute them fairly and according to skill level. I think that way would produce the most effective results. Guys, I know that might sound a bit harsh, but hear me out: if player A spends all of his time playing a character with whom he just can’t seem to get over the plateau, then where has it landed him? If player B can learn the same character front and back in half the time, then why not let him do it especially when the easier character that he instead learned could’ve been effectively learned by player A in the time he wasted? Pride should not be an issue here. This is about the truest way that we can help each other, and this could really illustrate how well we can work together as a community. Start proposing your ideas so that we can have a head-start on this.
Flexo’s Tentative List:
1. Dudley - James
2. Makoto - ???
3. Ibuki - Chris
4. Guy - ???
5. Cody - ???
6. Adon - Mike
7. Dee-Jay - Brock
8. T. Hawk - ???
9. Juri - ???
10. Hakkan - ???
Another thing that we need to keep in mind when deciding who learns who is how much time each person can actually invest in their character. Don’t volunteer for a tough character if you honestly don’t think you’ll have time to learn them. Remember: as silly as it might sound, others are going to be depending on you to do your part. Those of us that want to go to MWC should be taking this at least a little bit seriously. I’m not asking for miracles, and I’m sure Chris isn’t either. We’re just saying: let’s work together and make sure we’re as prepared as we can be.

I plan on playing all the 3s characters, I’ve even been practicing some makoto in 3s in preparation already. Cody and hakan have been gaining my interest too (loving the baby jump on hakan, reminds me of old dudley and honda jumps). We need to remember to not sleep on some of the old characters that got buffs, they have some dedicated players and will potentially become very dangerous, I’m referring specifically to Vega.
I guess that means check me off for makoto on your list mike. If I don’t end up finding Hakan horrid I will probably be on the board for him too.
Mike: I know Ibuki is a demanding character, but I would still like to give her a real shot…maybe you can pencil me in for her, and I’ll holler at you all if she proves to be over my head when Super comes out.
I realize that she is a very demanding character to learn, but shit so is Chun.
However, I have no real ego involved in this, so if it works out that one of the stronger player wants to take her up instead, I’ll take one for the team and learn cody or guy.
I just feel that Ibuki will be FUN, which is how I felt about chunner…but I don’t mind learning a boring character if it helps the team.
Brian.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but in the last 6 months, you have had very minimal time to devote to fighting games. I mean, in all fairness, if you tried to learn just ONE new character, it would be a full plate for you.
This is unless of course you somehow changed your schedule around or won the lottery.
Again man, this is all love so please don’t take this the wrong way, but real life has been taking its toll on your practice time…so I’m humbly suggesting that you pick just ONE new character and stick to that until MWC comes out.
Or just mess around with everyone and we’ll take you off the official list.
This shit is SRS BSNS.
Dude… Before anything else, we honestly do this for fun. If you’re not at least getting a shot at the character you like, then what’s the point? Honestly, Chris, I say that if you want to learn Ibuki, then go for it. However, IF we happen to need you to focus your efforts on someone else at least until MWC, would you be okay with that? That way you’d be learning Ibuki AND the character we’re coming up short on.
For the record, I’ll probably at least be testing out Guy to see how he is. If I can get past how stupid Hakan looks/is, I may delve into that territory, but don’t count on it. As usual, I’ll still be using Vega and Guile regularly
Chris, remember last night when I said that a part in that Ruby Suns song sounded like the end credits to Mega Man 8? Check it out:
