So are we going to run tournament style tonight? I mean, if we have 2 SF4 setups going, I don’t see why not. Everyone could warm up, and then by 9 or so we can start running the first SF4 tourney. As long as we have internet access, which Im assuming you do Bryan, I can set up the brackets in a matter of seconds.
So is everyone down for this? I know Chris was last week, and I know we have a our first RanBat next week, but playing in a tournament style setting, even if it’s only with friends on a game night, brings a sense of urgency to win unlike playing casuals. So needless to say, I wanna get some tournies in tonight for at least SF4, if not for CvS2 and 3s also.
Yes, tonight is supposed to be the Beta test of our tourney idea.

Last night was freaking awesome guys. Great play from a lot of people, some guys totally new to SF4 manned up and threw down (Christian, what chu know bout dem tiger kneeEEEEEs?!?), and I think our Beta test of the Champaign Ranbats was a huge success.
The plan is to keep on rolling, next week will be the first Official Champaign Ranbat 1.0. We will almost certainly use the same tourney software, and if we are able to, I’d like us to start awarding league points for SF4 singles…actually, maybe we could wait on the points and start everyone from zero when Super comes out…its up to you guys.
If we can turn this thing of ours into a real league, then we will be eligible to battle other leagues by sending our top ranked players to rumble in teams tourneys and singles. I know DeadXIII has a league running already, so once ours gets going, by this summer we can start having intra-league battles.
Seth Killian started this scene in Champaign, and I want us to carry that torch and do something that other small scenes and towns can model themselves after.

p.s. - Once we get this thing established…Tubo writes for Gootecks.com…its possible that eventually we might be interviewed or featured in an article for what we are doing, IF we are successful! I think that would be a really awesome goal to work toward: Becoming a model for how small local scenes can up their tourney strength by becoming a competitive league instead of just playing casuals all the time. Food for thought.
I just wanted to say…
FIRST PLACE BITCHES!! No seriously, good games to everyone. I was really happy to see how hyped J was to play. He wanted to play tournies all night haha. Also, at least for the next day or so, my phone is out of commission. I should have it back up in a few days though, but for now it’s all screwed up!
But yea, last night was lots of fun, and for the most part, pretty organized. I don’t feel like I really won though since Mike doesn’t play SF4 much anymore, and James wasn’t there, and it was only a practice RanBat 
But next week, were gunna get this shit poppin fo sho! Like I said, my phone is fucked, so if anyone wants to get some games in before Friday post on here and I’m sure we can work something out. I start work finally on Monday, but I’ll be off work and home by 6 every day so I’ll be down to play after work for sure, and then I have Friday off this upcoming week, so I’ll be ready for the RanBat. Then after April 15th my real schedule will start, and I don’t know how many RanBats I’ll be able to make. I’ll be working over night, 12 hour shifts, 4 days on, 4 days off. So basically what will end up happening is I’ll be able to play for 4 Fridays in a row, then I will miss 4 Fridays in a row. But whatever, I’ll figure it out when I actually start on that schedule.
And why do I always post books on this thread? I rarely do in the Vegas thread.
You guys are getting me so hype for tourney style game nights and SSF4. Can’t wait for that to come out.
I plan on really working on Cody to make him my new main and to give you guys some good practice. Im gonna be on that shit all day long when it comes out.

Great News: Makoto has Kara command throw in SSF4. S. LK can kara most of her moves. I’m very excite.
Bad News: True unblockables have been discovered in SF4. They will most likely work in SSF4. This is very bad. Hopefully Capcom will patch and fix this nonsense.
Good News: Chris Hu is back from China. Expect more great commentary soon.
Had alot of fun with the tournies fo real. It was really cool to fight everyone and see everyone fighting at their best. Good job fo real. But Im out for revenge on a certain three players.
