spidey’s intelligence wavers as fuck. like sometimes they treat him like he’s superhuman intelligence and sometimes they treat like he can barely make it out of grad school smart. when they say gifted that makes me think of someone in mit.
[details=Spoiler] i also like how non-wolverine fans started to read this issue when they found out…and are completely hating on millar for what he wrote.
isnt this a what if? isnt it titled old man “Logan” ???[/details]
@Buzz think you can hit me up with a list of there ranges? I remember the 2 series had cards for it but 3 series had it in the wrappers… hmm… I wonder if I completed my series 4? meh, I might hit you up for some references then.
yep, I take gifted to mean exceptionally smart (like mit) though not a professor, but vaguely recall there being an issue were webhead subbed for a professor as his actual job.
If Logan scaled up with V.Creed I could see Wolverine closer to Spidey strength, but I was thinkin Wolvirine was more like 2x Cap-A str (w/ bonebrace) maybe 3x… IIRC Sabertooth was there before his last 2 upgrades…
re: grad smart
Yep, wish i were that smart too…
and if Juggy can jobber for Venom in a Venom tpb I guess anyone is fair game in a Wolverine (soon to be) tpb. It’s not like he’s Cap-A mouthing off to Thanos and getting a way with it in continuity .
lol badger pooh fumes are fatal with second hand smoke included
for str
1 lift own body weight
2 body weight to 800 lbs
3 800 lbs to 2 tons
4 2 to 10 tons
5 10 to 50 tons
6 50 to 100
7 100 and beyond
if you guys want me to write more i can
and i bought a box of series 3 a few months back, got the whole set… minus rogue, like what the fuck and got 3 holograms, rare sons of bitches
wish i kept a wrapper for the stats
im sure its online somewhere
grad school smart isnt as smart as we all think. i know grad school students…lol. not too bright. how they made it this far is amazing to me.
mit smart>college professor
clearly only part time too…lol…could u see spider-man with tenure…lol he’d be gone for like whole semester in space defeating aliens n shit. and the college couldnt fire him.
Just to chime in that last night I checked both the Black in Black Spider-Man Marvel Universe book from 2006 and the Wolverine 2005 Marvel Universe book and the stats I listed of both has not changed.
Yeah I wouldn’t get to hung up on those things from any source (again, except the Marvel.com ones which you should flat out disregard) because writers do whatever the hell they want to do anyway and will depict someone as being smarter/stronger/faster on a whim if they feel like it and then someone else will tackle the character and make them suck. It’s the nature of the beast.
Marvel measures intelligence most of the time by education. Wolverine has never been to school ever. His time at the X-Mansion doesn’t count because he didn’t start out as a teen. Some of the languages he knows he learned, a lot of them Professor X just put into his head like he did with all of the X-Men, they all speak several languages. Obviously you can gain intelligence through other means but bottom line, Marvel says stay in school kiddies.
Everyone breaks into the Baxter Building. Spider-Man did it in ASM #1 when he was 15. High Tech defenses, sure. Reed Richards isn’t smart enough to counteract comic book plots, no one is. That building gets blown up and sent to Outer Space every other day. BTW how’s it doing now? Oh yeah, it just got blown up…
No one writes Wolverine as being that intelligent anymore just like no one takes advantage of his years of martial arts training. All he does is claw people and makes no attempts at dodging or blocking. If I ever see him kick someone in a comic book again I will pass out.
Tatsu, re: your ratings:
since he placed his ratings in a tag
[details=Spoiler]Wolverine is not bulletproof. Bulletproof means bullets bounce off your skin like Superman. Bullets still penetrate his skin, so he’s not bulletproof. Same deal with fire.
For Spidey, sticking to walls involves no energy projection whatsoever, so he still has none IMHO. Unless you count brainwaves but it’s probably the same brainwaves used to touch things, no different. Energy projection means, well projecting energy. So until he shoots laser beams out of his eyes or can perform a Hadouken that involves energy and not web balls then it’s still none.[/details]
for all the money its worth i’d hope theyd be that smart. maybe the people you know used it as another excuse to keep the non-partying serious days away ha.
are you in grad right now or done with college? how does that figure w/ the trickin
but yeah i dont see wolverine as being beast sized intelligence ever. he’s got the smarts when he needs it, but it doesnt even mesh well with his personality. it does accent the spy/espionage stuff from his past. everything else, doesnt really match with. just as long as they dont make him like simple jack from tropic thunder
i’m still in school…not gonna do grad school, lol i dont think theirs a such thing for graphic design majors lol. I just know alot of friends who went to grad school cause i technically started real college late cause i did 2 years in community college before transferring. its weird being friends with mit and harvard grads and i’m that nigga who draws and clicks a mouse alot.
Yeah I agree with Fist in that he should be written as being depicted as having normal intelligence, so current Marvel has that right. Smarts with fighting skills and combat situations, sure. Solving algebraic equations, running computers and building time machines, NO. It doesn’t serve someone who is quick to anger. I just chalk up Forge’s statement as every Mutant was god in the late 80s and 90s, because they were. 90s was the age of Mutant broken-ness.
thx for feed back. :chat: w/ logan i took the card stat to mean a bullet can’t stop him from fighting and pete… well i think one of the rating were for contact effects like gambits…
i thought it was funny how wolverine went from “see how good he is w/o healing” back to “see how good his healing is” in the course of year.
I figured logan was as smart as Cap-A. both were just well trained soldiers who thought well on there feet (for different reasons but…) not really teen spidey smart. (wasn’t shadow-cat gifted smart too?)
:looney: professor.W pissed off at the flux capacitor.
Oh please. It’s only a matter of time before anything Lobe did doesn’t count. Notice how no one is referencing that Lupine crap? They’re trying to pretend it doesn’t exist.
he just had a pretty good showing in Origins against 3 members of the hellfire club. it was a cool mix of martial arts and his claws. they way he SHOULD fight
also in his regular book he’s being trained my Master Po in chinatown. Po literally tells him that hes regressed as a fighter. hopefully it’ll stay consistent. cuz he just got his ass kicked by some martial arts masters that shorted out his healing factor. he couldnt deal with their h2h or their other techniques
