Old games are better!

i am making a rule to myself
i aint touching another fighting game unless i see
CAPSNK

BB characters are indeed uninspired compared to GG, although some are decent. Daisuke wasn’t involved in the character design in BB, correct?

I don’t got no firefox on mah phone!
SF4 might be fun for some of you all but to me the spark is gone. Doesn’t feel like theres much else to take it and half the match Im doing nothing. It used to not bother me, made me more in tune to what I had to do, ALMOST like it was with cvs. It may be because I play Bison, but this game just don’t give me that erection anymore.

And yes, Faust is awesome.

Oh yeah, and I know sf has a lot of shotos which is pretty dull. But you can’t tell me Bison, Vega, and Rolento aren’t cool as hell. Bison has fucking shoulder pads and psycho powers and a big DIC he uses to mind control people like Cammy and Ken with.

And a couple of people recently at NCR used P Groove and went decently into the brackets.

As long as you arent Dan, Kyosuke, and King, in CvS2 anyone can be scary if played right. Best game ever… only reason i play SFIV is because everyone and their mom plays it now and they abandoned the older games.

Admittingly SFIV isn’t truly horrible by any means, its acceptable, but its no CvS2 or ST. I don’t get the same excitement in playing it compared to those games.

Dictator is boring as shit in SFIV. His gameplay is so dry and one dimensional in sfiv. Hopefully they fix his issues and return him to his offensive high damage mix up glory from ST. His bnbs not raping ur health and the dead weight version of the stomp they gave him is so bland. Can’t even combo into ultra unless the opponent is sleeping. If it wasn’t for his beefy normals (which is like the only reason he is worth using IMO) he’d be near useless. They got the normals right but everything else about him is just so dry and uninteresting. U just know he isn’t going to win at high level unless he connects 90 bnbs or 7 s.hks.

I concur
GG > BB but since there is no next gen GG, BB will have to do. But I will dearly miss Johnny, Venom, Testament, Eddy, Milia…

This is exactly my problem with Bison in SF4. He’s my favorite SF2 and CvS Capcom side character to play. But in 4, what you say about him not having scary damage hits the nail on the head. In ST, if you all down against Bison, you’re scared because you know he can end it in one combo. In 4, Bison is not one of the characters who really scares you when he knocks you down. Akuma, Fuerte, 'Gief, and Abel are worlds scarier when they knock you down. And the inability to combo into ultra is why I’ve played Rog or Sagat instead.

I like how you said 90 BnBs or 7 s.hks, because that about how much damage those moves do

no, he wasnt, he only did the music on this game, mori is the one that designed the chars, and its the leader of the project

Why are we emulating games that have native PC versions? :wtf:

Oh how I know this all too well. I think its more likr 99 bnbs

The only reason SF4 is a good game is because of the chubby Asian kid.

Jarv all in here stealing my jam.

I haven’t played anything recent that I thought was outright bad.

Agreed, and as a Faust main you basically broke down how cool he is. Nice. Inspiring some #R tonight. I think when I play and look at each character’s drive is where I see the originality, but the borrowed ideas are plain and obvious (Sol-the-Bloodedge, etc.)

ahh mobile srk  sorry man
Yeah I dropped off the face of the SF4 planet for a few months and played only KOF/BlazBlue but over the past few months I’ve found some fun in the game. I think it’s a mix of maining Dan, finding good local competition and just focusing on the basics. But yeah I understand about not playing it… and being Bison.

Bison and Vega are both much cooler in ST, Rolento is beast in CVS2. Still doesn’t help out the projectile/horizontal attack/dragon punch crowd in SF4 unfortunately :frowning: wish it was Rolento throwing that knife at Guy instead of Ibuki and her kunai

Err, yeah, topic… I still play 3S, CVS2, ST, Marvel, Gem Fighter, SamSho2, Garou, etc. on top of the new games I’m playing so it’s more about what’s fun.

I dunno what happened to me and SF4. I loved it when it first came out too…but then after awhile I just got bored with it. Maybe it’s cause I only found interest in playing Boxer and Rose…and I was too lazy to really sit down and fuck with Viper.

New characters are meh gameplaywise outside of Viper. Game itself is too catered to people who sit there waiting for a opening. Even now as a casual game I just don’t see myself playing SF4 anymore. Let alone BB pretty much killed all the skill I had in SF4.

BB is ok I guess. That may be because I never got into GG seriously and even though I want to, i’m so behind as it is. Thankfully I have comp but it’s not frequent. But I enjoy BB because my characters aren’t op. Least not in CT. People will probably hate me in CS if Litchi stays as godly as she is…

I’d love to play some more 3s still. I do from time to time on GGPO and just fuck around with it on the PS2. CvS2 is just fun. Could care less what people think on that game but this seriously should be revived hard.

You all make valid points. Theres just one game we should be playing honastly though. Fist of the North Star

Alpha Series, ST and Virtua Fighter 2 (Really 5 but…) are hands down better than almost that has come out in the past 10-15 years…IMO.
Granted I grew up on those games (I’m 34 in JAN.) along with others (Killer Instinct, random PSOne/2 fighters) and for me it’s about those days. But now that I know about Frame-Data and Priority, “Match-Ups”, I atleast know WHY I don’t like 4 anymore and why I love (and still play) Alpha and ST…

ssssooooo, qft!!!

…Have you played SF4 before?

It’s not a problem because they’re easy. It’s a problem because, simply, the game is made to be random. The lack of blockstun makes any sort of creative offense too risky to try, because there are no legit blockstrings outside of jabjabjab (no mixup here). That combined with the all reward/no risk (that’s if you call being next to someone at frame advantage a risk) DP FADC means that if you try to rush down, then you will eventually lose simply based on the odds. Daigo mashes (yes, he actually cranks them shits out scrub style) on DP during opponents strings; that should say something.

I don’t want the community to stop playing the game necessarily; I just want it to be honest about the game instead of going all crazy over it. It’s a game made for beginners. Plain and simple. What we SHOULD do is use it to get people into the older, deeper, flat out fucking better games by featuring them more than we do alongside SF4. We won’t, though, because it’s become more about numbers than quality, and that’s exactly what the new games embody.

Thanks Mamamamamamamation for making the epic thread.

That, my friend, we can both agree on.
