Old games are better!

SF4: When it first came out I really enjoyed it. We all did (over here anyway). But after about… well till EVO the more we played the more boring it got. Most the matchups were about doing less=good. Even Ryu vs Ryu, if they have an ultra and 50% bar the best option was to do nothing.

Blaz Blue: This shit sucks. Un-origional character design, has a load of horible ideas mechanic wise, outlandish matchups. It is fast and pretty, and some of the moves are cool looking. But even still, some of them were completly un-origional. It’s fun to play at a low level and not care about how dumb matchups are but over all, game sucks. Good luck in CS.

T6: Good game, and lots of fun. The only thing about it is that if you haven’t already played it for years then you have a LOT to catch up on.

Oh how amazing the days were when people played CvS2, Guilty Gear, and even 3S. I am grateful that there are a lot a new people now but man the old games are so much fun. And now very few people play them. QQ

Personally I like any games that are FUN, regardless of when they were made. I had a lot of fun getting into Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure with the guys on GGPO lately, but I am having more fun currently getting into Tekken 6, especially since there is more competition in it. The first fighting game I picked up was 3S and I still play it, but the scene for that is dropping off now too.

Yah, I’m new to fighting games (basically 09), and I can’t stand the new games at all. Pretty much all of them are watered down versions of their predecessors, and they are completely boring because of this.

Pretty much every single one that came out this year is boring. I’ve tried Super Turbo, Alpha 2, GGXX: reload, Cvs2, and 3s. I feel I have much more to learn, and the game stays interesting as you keep leveling up unlike with newer games.

Unfortunately, I really doubt anything of the same quality is ever going to return since the companies who made these games have changed so much since the 90s. Most of the fighting games coming out make me think EA games had a hand in making them.

Well yeah, all these new games were big failures. Specially BlazBlue, and CS isn’t looking any better.

Well, I am trying to get decent at Tekken 6, but yup… I’ve got a looooot to catch up on.

I prefer older games in general, not just fighting games. While there are some really good newer games, most of them suck and are not challenging at all.

My favourite game of all time is probably Super Mario world and I still go back to that and do a playthrough now and again, I can’t see me doing that with most newer games like Assassins Creed or Infamous etc.
As for fighting games, SF2 Hyper Fighting is my favourite. Just because I had that and World Warrior on the SNES when I was a kid. I prefered Hyper Fighting because it had the boss characters and it was faster.

But I do still enjoy SF4 after almost 10 months. It’s pretty much the only game I play nowadays, and a bit of Tekken 6.

BlazBlue sucks and T6 is good?

You were fucked from the start.

Option #3 rules tho.

What? CS is a drastic improvement over CT, what are you basing your opinion on?

Tekken 6.

I want what your smokin’…

I think older games had a certain allure because it was all pretty new to us, it was fun, they were the predecessors, and life was simpler back then. Today games are really expensive, not always that challenging, not nearly as innovative (who’s going to spend tens of millions on a gamble?), and life’s different. I love SF4 but I know exactly what you mean. Today’s games don’t hold me the way the old ones did.

i voted for old game, i love old games because they are simple and fun, a few examples are, the metal slug serie, a simple game with a whole lot of fun from the beginning to the very end. another one is final fantasy serie, i used to like the more cartoony looking FF’s like FF IV, FF V, and my favorite FF VI, and of curse Street fighter games, my favorite is SSF2x, then Hyper Fighting, and Champion Edition, new street fighters are fun to play for a few Hours but after that they just dont feel the same, so, old school ftw.

There are a sub section of games that I consider to have infinite replayability, and competitive games, specifically fighting games, fall into that group. The beauty of this is that you don’t have to move on to newer games. As long as you have competition, you don’t need to move on, unlike single player games where once you reach the end game, there isn’t a whole lot to do. So to me, whether a game is new or not is irrelevant to me.

Keep playing dat Guilty. Everything’s gonna be ok.

You are right but wrong at the same time.
SF4 and Blazblue are both 1st irritations, so you can’t compare them to the improved versions of old games. (GGX wasn’t very great at high level play either…) So yeah they gonna suck at 1st but stick with them till the next game and you’ll ripe the benefits.

For me FUN=being active and offensive in a game. (that’s why I love Arcsys games in general)
SF4 has characters like elfuerte and others who are very active and fun to play IMO. Yes they suck now, but maybe they will be viable next game which will make the game itself more fun for me than it is now.
And playing Bang in Blazblue with all his bumpers and furinkazan is the most fun I had with a character in a fighting game. It’s not fun getting looped to death by Carl but like I said suck it up until the next irritation.

In Capcom’s case since they disbanded their FG developer’s around the time CFJ was made their FG’S haven’t been the same. CvS2 I’m pretty sure was that dev team’s last game. SFIV isn’t as good to a lot of people because it doesn’t have that feel of some of the older games. Different people made the game and you can tell.

Tekken is still good. Tekken will most damn likely stay good, too.

Characters in BB are unoriginal? Wut?

I find this absurd as well. Unlikable maybe, I have some friends who don’t play because they just don’t find any of the characters appealing. But unoriginal? I didn’t realize that omniscient lolita vampires that control wind or amorphous entities made entirely of bugs were cliches.

I want a “they’re all fine” option that doesn’t imply I registered this year.

Looks like a copy-paste from gg. Ragna even has Sols sidewinder and twirly kick. If you dont feel like making completly different characters then just put in Sol and Ky. You also have Ara strait from Spirited Away.
Ratchel also has the same death and win poses as slayer. I would say her, Cat girl, and v13 have some new ideas but even some things were pretty lazy like v13 having Dizzys 2S.
