Lol, I’ve always thought that he looked like no face, but is that really fair to say?
I always thought Arakune looked like those shadows from Persona 3 and Persona 4.

ever since developers figured out that they can sell more copies by dumbing down the engine, games have been shit garbage. T6 is hot but even this game is guilty of dumbing down the engine to allow for better sales. All though, I don’t think namco watered down their engine as much as sf4 did.
new games like sf4\BB shy away from difficult engine mechanics so the casual player will have a shot. It has become about making a dollar now than creating a good game. Ono doesn’t give 2 shits if you think his games is good or not, he just wants you to buy it. Until this trend changes, expect bad\easy fighting games. Personally, I would hope that capcom would get rid of Ono and let someone else design ssf4 but its kinda late for that now. His philosophy in general shouldn’t be used to design a fighting game.
I’m actually pretty pissed that I quit playing a certain genre of games, and decided to play fighting games. Only to find that this plague is finding a home in fighting games as well.
I made an account in '09 so my opinion doesn’t matter, but I really like the older games the most. Games didn’t have a huge demographic like they do today, so they really felt like they were made for people like us and not trying to drag in new people that don’t know how to block. You had all these crazy games coming out that just didn’t give a fuck, like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure or the Marvel games that are really made for a certain type of person. Look at Virtua Fighter, it’s the first 3d fighting game, and all the series to come out after that are dumbed down in comparison. Hell, just look at Soul Calibur 1 vs Soul Calibur 4. they’re not even the same game.
I blame it on the economy.
everyone on this forum grew up in the 90s…of course they’re gonna vote that older games are better…its so obvious i dont even know why that nigga thread creator even bothered to make this thread.
so close it.
^That’s not even the reason, even my 10 year old cousin would agree older games are better!
Please believe 10 years from now no one will ever think about dusting off their PS3/xbox to play some SFIV/SSFIV.

***Will there be a simple input option for special moves and ultras, like using the right analog stick or trigger buttons?
Street Fighter 4 was nearly unplayable for these kinds of gamers because of the inputs and insane timing on combos which required a $150 arcade stick plus months or years grinding away doing repetitive motions.
Thats just not a fun idea of gaming to someone thats new to fighting games or plays them casually we want to jump in instantly and start having fun.
Seth: I’d agree that you’re overstating the difficulty a bit, but that said, I sympathize. The short answer is that we’re not planning on offering inputs like that in SSFIV, though there ARE easy special/super commands for Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, which IMO is a much better entry point for a fighting newcomer. Chain combos, easy-input specials (if you wish), etc. all give you a much better feeling early on if the world of fireballs and hurricane kicks is a foreign language. Try TvC or MvC2–there’s certainly plenty of depth, but the barrier to be able to do some basic stuff is lower.
after Sf4 dumbs the engine down, bigger reversal windows, safe shoryukens, auto correct DP, and an ultra that helps you after you get your ass beat, slow ass jumps, bigger hit boxes on normals YOU still have scrubs asking for an easier game. Seriously, right analog stick to trigger specials\ultras? like just tapping a direction?.. no one even wants to practice anymore. Everyone wants to be god like from the start. When in actuality its hard work\ perseverance that makes you a good player… so disgusted that capcom actually listens to people like that and you can see that some of these players get what they want in fighting games. Why else is sf4 so scrub friendly?
around the ST\alpha era, everyone who was playing hard knew you had to practice to be good. It was commonly accepted and other players showed respect to those who have been grinding it out to step their game up. Just like a sport, you gotta practice to get better. This new era of games\players are preferring easier methods to emulate the skills of a vet so they can look cool or some shit. I don’t know their mentality behind it. When I was growing up and I saw someone do a hard ass combo, I gave them mad props and asked them questions about it so I could do it after a little practice. Now everyone wants the combo to be easier so they can do it w\o practice… its god awful seriously.
This guy is probably speaking for close to 60% of the players. You have to remember that the majority of people who bought this game are not @ a mid-expert level in fighting games. The majority of them are beginners or casual players who play it for nostalgia purposes. When you look @ it from a business perspective, they obviously have to balance it out. They want pro’s to play it so there’s a scene for it. This in turn is advertising for the game and sparks interest. They also want scrubs\casuals to buy it heavy since the bulk of their profit will come from these players. If you create a game that super skill smith, its a niche game that the casual player won’t pick up. If the game is to easy, the pro’s wont buy it and they lose a form of free advertising that the tournament scene provides. There’s a middle ground that they try to work and it simply doesn’t IMO. By watering down the engine to help the scrubs, this in turns hurts the pro’s and they expect the pro’s to deal with it. Thats why sf4 is currently a crappy game and I don’t expect ssf4 to be any better since that god forsaken ultra is back.
Im still playing FFVI, chrono trigger, super mario world, super metroid, TMNT 4 Turtles in time, castlevania 1,3,4… etc.
New games are unappealing for me, i don’t know why, i never played halo, or assasing creed, or bioshock, CoD4, God of War, gears of war… none of those games, i find them with good ass graphics, but im not a graphic whore like 80% of the people are right now/
I love old games, the only new games i play, are Tekken 6, and SFIV, period.
Why bother when you’ll be able to emulate them on your PC whenever you please?
You are right, but that was not the point I was trying to make. There are many other games I would rather emulate before wack ass SFIV.
Am I getting trolled?
You probably are.
I’m all about old-school 2D fighters. To me, nothing will ever be as awesome as games like Vampire Savior. SSFIIT, CvS2, etc. Hell, Fighters History is better than 90% of today’s newer fighting games.
But I still thoroughly enjoy SFIV. In my opinion, it’s a good game that’s about to get even better with SSFIV. I was completely turned off by it at first, mostly because of newer techniques that I was too lazy to learn and because of the 3D graphics, but it really grew on me.
i’m not sure about this
if we’ve learned something this year
every idiot in america knows how to throw a dp and an ultra
lol at syxx above
Also, its all about the real og game, ball in a cup.
I don’t get this nostalgia stuff, and I was raised at the start of the 90s.
Seriously, for every Vampire Savior, there were five SF2: Rainbow Editions.
Its more there was more quantity in the old days than quality if anything.
