Old games are better!

Only on wake up tho, easier to mash

or while getting hit/poked/linked/etc.

I don’t exactly see any sort of point to this thread, so I’m just going to post.

Lets find an even ground and call it “during a state in which you are not able to physically move”

Waaah waaah, I can’t adapt! Waaah, waah, I can’t play a new game the same way I’ve been playing an old one for 10 years!

hell yea lets play some sf4 bb and kof12

NOT!!!

I see nothing wrong with series like tekken having a lot to catch up on, it’s a game that has evolved a lot over the years.

As for the noobs complaining that the games should be easier, it’s because americans have become lazier over the years plain and simple. They want everything handed to them on a silver platter, and that’s just not a good thing. There is a solution though, at least on the online side of things.

Have two ladders online, a beginners ladder for easy inputs, and a hardcore ladder for those who actually want to learn how to play. This way, the beginners can have their easy play, and won’t be matched up with the players who know the ins-and-outs of the game. Beginners can learn the game while playing other beginners and won’t just lose every fight and give up, and when they’re comfortable enough to make the jump they can move to the hardcore ladder.

Tournaments obviously would ban beginner mode offline by default. Obviously beginner mode players likely wouldn’t be trying to enter tournaments anyway.

Everyone is happy.

I love how so many people are bashing BB and SF4 while nut-hugging Guilty Gear and Third Strike… don’t get me wrong, I love all of them, but give SF4 and BB some time. Remember how awesome and balanced the original Guilty Gear X and SFIII:New Generation were when they came out? Yeah, I though so.

and I could honestly give a shit less about character design. I main two fat guys in SFIV and a giant red scientist as well as every shotacon fan/catholics’s priest fantasy in Blazblue.

But… but Guilty Gear X had a killer OST!!!

wahh wahh, that 1 frame reversal is to hard. waahhh wahhh, I need that ultra to help me make a comeback. waahh wahh, I need that auto correct DP to stop that guys mixup. Fuck blocking properly or trying to see what side he’ll end up on or anything like that. waah, waah, I need that shortcut so I can copy daigo and ume people. :crybaby:

Its not about sf4 copying the old games fully. Its about taking them what made them good in the first place. The technicality, the engine mechanics etc… sf4 takes all the hard stuff about SF and made it retarded easy and scrubs are STILL complaining about the difficulty. Even my grandma can pull off this shit now.

If scrubs want to go play a scrub game, go play DOA. I’m sure there’s room @ the top for all of you in that shitty game. Everyone is the champ in that game and you can mash shit till your hearts explodes.

The same people playing old games then are playing old games now, it’s just that their voices aren’t as many as people playing the recent games. Many old games are really stupid and unbalanced too, I really don’t see the point of this thread. It really doesn’t sound like you play many old games because your criticisms of these newer games resound stronger with the old. Probably your funniest criticism is of Blaz Blu. Name old games with lots of “originality” or uniqueness. Most of SF’s char are caricatures and bland stereotypes so don’t even start there.

lol @ the people who think BlazBlue is actually a good game.

The new version is better, but I don’t know if I can say it’s a good game now.

I see everyone’s point on evolving with newer games, engines, and mechanics. That isn’t my problem with most newer games. I guess I just feel that mid- to late 90’s fighters had a certain element of charm that has since been forgotten.

C-Sagat or A-Sakura would’ve worked as well but besides that I lol’d…

Yes because one character is a “matchup.”

When did SRK turn into such a fucking bitch-fest? I was down with it when SRK was about hate but recently it’s been about whiny little girls QQing cause there isn’t a new game they like. Stop being a little bitch and go play the games you like you fucking girls.

yeah take a look at the match ups for the low-tier characters

Its not just fighting games today that are being dumbed down. Just about every game made today is being geared more towards casual gamers if anyone didn’t notice. Just look at Nintendo. They only encouraged the multiplayer whores of today. Games currently suffer because most don’t offer a solid single player anymore unless its specifically geared towards single player.

I also believe that Halo 2 was to blame for the multiplayer whores getting what they (mostly) wanted. The only game genres that need muliplayer are fighting games, party games and sports games. That’s all really.

My favorite [fighting] games right now are Rival Schools: United by Fate, Street Fighter 2 (not turbo), and Street Fighter Third Strike. Also MvC2, CvS, VS, MB, Tekken 6, CvS2, and SF: A3 are good. Guilty Gear Slash was the better of the GG/BB series imo.

SF4 to me seems slow, boring, limited, relies too much on ultra, and is overly defensive. Infinites and graphics aside, SvC chaos is comparable to this game, as in it gets fun at a point but after a short time it gets boring. BB isn’t good either imo. Hopefully SSF4 will be an improvement.

Also, you can’t say people like certain games because they only came out in the 90s, or because they’re newer or older. For example, MK3 Ultimate was the best of the series and it is neither the oldest nor the newest. You don’t see people going around saying how SF1 was the best game either nor are people saying Tekken 4 or Tekken 1 were better than Tekken Tag.
