That’s exactly my point. A lot of the games mechanics don’t work or are useless at a high level.
Didn’t you know, Alter?
OP of this topic
Spoiler
Mr.Mamation = witch. And you know that you should NEVER trust a witch. You know SRK; we get trolled quicker than 5 minutes from an episode of Umineko.
And there’s the answer that (should) end the thread. I doubt it would, though.
Silence. None of the characters in Exetype are canonically bisexual. At least not to my knowledge.
Ah man, I made a killer thread. So much to read.
Dan would have been sad face if I did.
I should have called this tread “Play HnK because it’s the best game ever made” because thats what people should be playing.
Also a super important point you all should take into consideration.
Bison is the coolest character ever. Followed by Lorento (see what I did there).
Okay okay on a serious note
@seph13, I don’t expect you to play at a high level and in fact I am not elite or anything. But I have reached an understanding that when the opponent has an invinsible move and an ultra is ready to go that your options have been set to pretty much nothing. As in the best option is to do nothing and try to get them to make a mistake. Which is boring.
Lol @ yang juggles
+1. we’ve all been practicing these motions since 92.
When I first saw SF4, I was disappointed that was done with 3-D models but I decided to give it a try and ultimately I didn’t like the game enough to play it competitively for other reasons besides it using 3-D models.
I still play CVS2, A2, and Third.
I’m going to give SSF4 a try because Guy, Dudley, and Makoto seem like characters I’d like to play, but I still prefer older hand-drawn 2-D SF games–they look better and play better in my opinion. I think Blazblue is a beautiful game (in terms of animation), but I also think its a big trend to hate anything to do with anime as well–but I will say that in terms of competitive gameplay that Blazblue suffers quite alot. Even if I like SSF4, I don’t think it will ever compare to the feeling I had when I played CVS2, A2, or Third Strike initially–nor will Capcom ever go back to how they made games before because right now the American “next-gen” audience is the biggest audience with the most cash so its obvious they’re going to appeal to them.
Its a shame alot of people stopped playing the old games–most of them are still fun, imo.
This might be a bit pessimistic but, I still believe in some way that despite the addition of new characters–most of them will suffer from the same solid tactics that work in Original SF4. We’ll see but I honestly think competitively it’ll go back to square one in the end.
i want 3rd strike hd remix for consoles/pc/cell phone/washing machine- with lots of online options , GGPO, balance fixes via DLC patches - and i want everybody to play it.
I want "korean starcraft"ish tournaments all over teh world.
I want to get laid for playing 3rd strike hd remix.
but … I made an account in '09 so my oppinion doesn’t matter :shy:
The nostalgia googles in this thread are thick, unfortunately even myself has a “nostalgiafag” side, but not to the point of dissing other games.
I enjoy both type of eras, old games and new games, and I can say this based on the games that I play, of course I’m not just saying this while having as limit fighting games, I still play games from the NES era, like Megaman, Ducktales, from Snes there is Donkey Kong games, Chorno Tigger, Terranigma, Zelda LttP, KI, of course SF and more games, there is also games from PsOne and other consoles, but that would just extend this post, the main idea is also noticeable anyway.
As for objectively fighting games, I like playing games like SFIV or BB (even though I rarely play them lately due my little free time for it) because I found them fun, simple as that, I enjoy both games even though one of them seems like totaly uninspired in designs, (in this case BB as OP is saying) but that’s not completely the case since it’s basically the sucessor of GG, which explains why it’s so similar to it, personally I like Hazama’s design, is like using Lupin III or MJ in combat, Arakune is simple yet is a good way to differ from the typical fihting character, and Tager is ridiculously funny (a muscular Scientific?), the designs aren’t so bad. As for the matchups, this isn’t the first game that has crazy matchups or balance, as someone said, the Alpha series weren’t exactly “100% balanced” with the costum combos, O.Sagat is also an example of crazy matchups, but that was already used in this thread so I don’t really need to say something about it, so BB isn’t the craziest game in existence on what “balance” means.
In any case, as I said I enjoy old and new games for equal. Maybe old games some more, but even so, new games aren’t so bad. All this is coming from someone who enjoys CvS2, JoJo’s, GG, third and some KoF games too.
But all this is just my opinion, just like what this thread is made of. After all, I’d say that everyone has different perspectives about what games are better, therefore someone will always say that “X” game is better than “Y” and/or “Z” games.
EDIT : Lovely avatar OP.
Onbeygir, no it doesn’t. If you said cvs2 remix on the otherhand I think I would look past your join date.
So, the answer to this thread is… play Akatsuki Blitzkampf?
HnK sir!!
Exactly, it doesn’t matter the era of the game. If the game is good, it is good (like Super Turbo, Garou, SFIV, whatever). Plus it is really subject when it comes down to it.
I have to admit. Most of the reasons that have mentioned by seph13 about SFIII are some of the reasons why I’m not playing the game ATM. Don’t get it me wrong, it really is a great game, but gameplay wise it is very much removed from the series. It kinda feels like KOF with the way the combos work (love KOF).
This is way I like SFIV, it is an extention to what made the SF series great in the first place (gameplay wise).
are you using CV Judgment Maria in a character design argument? seriously?
if people are hating on BB’s character design as they appear finalized, you should see the prototypes from the art book. Some of them are . . . interesting. :xeye:

As far as aesthetics go, I thought BB’s animation was pretty middle of the road but the character design was better than GG’s because they aren’t as covered in belts and buckles for a really banal way to add detail.
but belts are fucking metal
Yes, but only because it was the easiest one to find.
Gothic lolita is BEYOND cliche.
Of course I’ll be nostalgic for Champion Edition, Tournament Fighter, or even Fatal Fury 2.
The problem with New games like Soul Calibur, Tekken, and DOA, is sure they look nice, but it doesn’t feel as strategic as it should be especially with Tekken.
With games like Smash Bros you are trying to survive in different ways from traditional fighting games and the strategy is more alive in their.
With games like tekken and soul calibur it’s button mash and you’re as good as mid-tier tourney player, of course IMO and my participation on Gamestop tourneys with Eddy Gordo and everybody looking down on me for using him…lol…and the new ones are cool and stuff.
While a game like virtua fighter is really deep and really complex, it tends to be TOO complex and too hard to get into.
A game like Mortal Kombat intro’d so many gimmicks that i blah’d on it.
CVS 2 is a great game for me because of the SNK Character and Capcom characters being so awesome and playing to their strengths
