OFFICIAL World of Warcraft Thread

Boomkins are one of the most laughed at classes in the game, perhaps besides retadins. However, they get a bad rap, and can put out really nice DPS… for like 2 minutes. They are plagued with threat issues, no threat dump, and a silly looking form. That being said, we raid with at least 1, who regularly is pulling more than his fair share of DPS. Popping him into a group with destro locks and mages and an spriest is a big boost for the group. But the fact is, for every good boomkin, theres 10-12 bad ones. Like hunters or warriors. You’ll be fighting a huge uphill battle.

Also, I don’t mean to say that I think Min/Maxing is the way to go, my guild definitely doesn’t min max. We typically run 1 fury, 1 arms/BF warrior, and 3 rogues as melee dps. My dps also isn’t anywhere near 900, I typically peak around 700ish. But I also have a ton of upgrades to get… I was totally done with kara and my tank gear, and it was pushed to an off night that I have class. Now that I’m dps, I have a ton of drops I still need, and I havent gotten any of them because I havent been to kara in awhile. Couple that with the fact since I have gone arms/BF, the only plate dps or 2h drop we’ve seen is the Naaru mace off HKM (lol), the helm off VR (passed to the fury warrior because I have the engy helm), and the bracers off lurker (which I wasn’t in for the kill, passed my spot to the fury warrior). I still have too many blues I need to replace (rings, cape, BP, bracers, legs : / ) and trying to upgrade despair. Prolly gonna go with a skillherald just for the pvp opness.

Also, I play on a PVE server… Anvilmar. Pretty backwoods in terms of progression.

My spec I think is prot currently (went prot for a raid when we were short on tanks, staying that way until sunday in case I have to tank again), and my gear is probably most of my DPS gear (except the horsemans helm and weapons, was having fun with that laugh).

Ah i see. Yeah i was wondering about the gear at first, then i read your final paragraph heh. And yeah i know the feeling of wanting something and having drops be something retarded. Every lurker kill i cross my fingers for Bracers of Eradication, but nOOOOO he drops the mallet, every fucking time. Of course, our tanks are happy, but now they’re just getting sharded (until now i didn’t think to take one since there’s always been a tank that needed it, but next kill i’ll probably end up taking it :P)

and keep in mind i keep 900+ dps with flasks, and other overboard things like swapping to fast weapons at 21%, popping haste pots, deathwish, reckless, etc at 20% and spamming the living daylights out of execute unless it’s over 45ish rage (then i could just bt and then execute rather than a single execute that would hit for about half of the former).

Anything Night Elf gets laughed at.

So what did they change to Weapon Mastery besides putting it in the Fury tree? Thottbot says “mastery” instead of “skill,” but is that just an aesthetic change or some sort of buff?

Weapon Mastery gives you -.25% chance to be parried/dodged per point. Its a HUGE buff for tanks, and a pretty good sized buff to dps as we have no way to eliminate dodge. It even helps to scale past the hit cap to help your yellows, which is huge.

However, the new warrior skill is supposed to be -2%/-4% chance to be dodged, according to a blue post. Currently on the PTR its only -1%/-2% chance to be dodged. Its still a big buff for warriors, enough to put it ahead of precision in the talent tree.

All these warrior buffs make me want to play WoW again. Reinstalling that shizz tomorrow.

Only problem is that if I want to DPS as DW Fury I’m gonna have to join some random scrub guild and do Kara.

I recently joined Andorhal so i can join the srk clan, i currently have a lvl 70 NE hunter on firetree

I just need a little help getting on my feet, about 100 gold, i’ll repay you when i get to level 70 :stuck_out_tongue: (edit: actually, it would be better if i had 4 decent-big sized bags)

rolled an undead rogue

Ilavll (first letter is an I,rest Ls)

2 questions does anybody have the brian koop lvling guide lost it in a recent reformat and 2 does anybody know what mod this is on this site? http://www.briankopp.com/mapmodpreview.html if you have the guide email it too greyfoxx_1983@yahoo.com. Much appreciated.

I have it. Very good too. Since I actually paid for mine… ummm send me a pm and we’ll talk. You’re a fellow SRK’er.

Can’t wait for the relms to get back up to check out the Guild Banks and all the new changes.

before you go any further, most of us are/were in the server Blackwing Lair but i’ve been out of the loop with wow for a few months so maybe that might have changed.

What’s up guys. I am new to WOW. (yeah I know, "where’ve YOU been?) I have an undead warrior lv 6 or so…Any suggestions for a noob?

What servers are you guys on anyway?

And did I make a bad choice of character? Are there any really broken classes??

Every class is good in it’s own right. So far the most “broken” class everyone bitches about is a Warlock (and they ARE good, I have a 70 Warlock myself), but all classes can be beaten.

Anyone try Zul’Aman yet? I really like that place. A new Kara of sorts. Plus all the changes they made with this patch (that Mage conjure shit is too good, and the new dailies) made me really want to play this game some more.

New patch is crazy. I have an Orc Rogue alt who had Rugged Spaulders equipped. They used to be white. Now they’re BLUE (!) and give +8 agility, and still need only level 15. Instant twink!

DAMNATION

i have a lvl 30 undead rogue now -_-

patch 2.3 = awesome.

damn, 2.3 makes me wanna roll again. I gotta stay off that shit though. Got some legal issues to take care of so I can get my ass back to work then I might hit it up again.
The ol’ BWL crew still around or did everyone xfer off?

I just made a Troll Hunter on Thrall and I can’t wait for the rollercoaster that is 20-60.

2.3 is amazing!

Blackwing Lair is where most of us are/were but as I said before I’m out of the loop and haven’t played WoW in months.

And no you didn’t make a bad choice for a character. A lot of people QQ, but blizzard does make an effort to fix the game, but I think a lot of people will agree with me that even they do sometimes they just aren’t able to fix it. PVPers want it pvp based. PVErs want it more pve based. Casuals want it more for casual. Hardcore players want it more hardcore. After I took my extended break a few months ago, the game seemed llike it was meant for semi-casual pve players , and it seems like that’s what blizzard wants to do.

How noticeable are the decreased xp requirements and the increased xp? Is it not very noticeable at all, like say, you’ll ding 60 an hour sooner than you would before? Or is it awesomely noticeable, like say, you’ll ding every level an hour sooner than you would before (i.e., getting lvl 60 30-40 hours sooner).

I personally love the grind, but never loved it enough to play alts seriously. I always just had the single lvl 70 and that was it. An occasional alt or two that I wouldn’t take past the 20s. But if the xp is jacked up big time, I might start playing again and just go 1-60 with every class.

2.3 is the truth.

I’m gonna be rolling and possibly transferring to destromath soon if anyone wants to join.
