Sweeping strikes in fury is weird, I admit, but damn if it doesnt make farming faster. Intercept into arms is fine, weapon expertise in fury = OWNAGE, seriously. Whirldwind hitting with BOTH weapons is fucking pimp. And if you really want to feel hot, go down and take DW + sword spec from arms, and pop the rest into fury. Might be the new pve build, but who knows.
I did manage to get bear boss down on the PTR, pretty easy. Wiped once on the way to eagle boss then I logged to watch Office: x
well the new WW is kind of buggy atm. if the offhand component crits, it won’t proc flurry or rampage -.-
I have to admit though, even with it’s 1% parry/dodge (should be fixed with new patch to 4%) that’s going to be huge for tanking or dpsing, and as someone said, it makes a huge difference in grinding/farming as well. I’m sad though, got a spiteblade to replace malchazeen for the offhand when patch goes live, then i find out that Fool’s Bane is One hand now too -.- I FINALLY looked cool in fury gear.
Oh well. I’m doing SSC and TK, hope we put a big enough dent soon so i can drop some of the Merc gear.
Wow. This patch makes me want to play again and go DW Fury… but I doubt I’d find a guild willing to let me do that, even T4 guilds not yet in SSC/The Eye, given my tanking gear. I just want to DW Fury… it’s so much fun. ;___;
I feel ya. I dropped from my SSC/TK guild so I could use my warrior (who has always been dw unless forced to tank) and I found a guild in Kara/SSC who let me use em… been nothing but good times since.
How you like the Dragonmaw? I was thinking of making it to go allow with my deep thunder, but I already have the Decapitor and they’re pretty much similar other than the haste on dragonmax. You must not have any rogues that wanted that helm… every freaking rogue in the guild took it (rightfully so) and the spiteblade.
Since when was fools bane NOT a 1h? Its always been a 1h since I’ve seen it : O
(Ninja edit: Just found out its going from MH only to 1-hand. Thats a sick buff!)
and with warrior DPS… current standards are that the FIRST dps warrior really should be an arms/blood frenzy warrior. The 4% damage increase he puts out for all melee dps (rogues, warriors, tanks, feral druids, enhance shammys, hunters, etc) makes up for his SLIGHTLY less damage to a full fury. The problem furies have (and I’ve done my share of fury) is you are going to constantly be compared to rogues, and lose due to not having a vanish. On threat free fights, however, it sure is a lot of fun.
Now, if you have access to high end level gear, fury is a bit more viable for busting out crazy numbers. But in shit like Kara, I’d say dps warriors are nearly the second to last least wanted class… with retadins in last : O
I’ve been flip flopping specs for a long time… Full Prot, Fury/Prot hybrid, Full Fury (17/44), and am now happy with my 33/28 blood frenzy spec. My heart lies with tanking though, and now that our MT has finally gotten his gruul shield, I can MT it so he doesnt have to bother running it anymore : P
Im confused… you’re socketing AP on your chest over str? You’ve also got an extremely low +hit… how is the rage working out for you? I’d be interested to see some WWS of your dps, because you have a lot of gear that I used to drool over as a fury warrior, but I would never let my hit drop below 200. I’ve read a lot of debate on hit vs crit etc, but it seemed that 200 hit and 30+% crit left me with a nice steady flow of rage to use.
I was in a guild where it dropped on a weekly basis. So after about 3 weeks, the rogues were like 'meh, i’d rather keep the t5 2pc bonus" so i got it defaulted (whee). As for dragonmaw, it’s great. When haste is up that’s when the heroic strike kicks in basically.
Come patch, you can offhand decapitator, btw, especially with the new whirlwind, it’s going to be a pretty big buff for dps. The haste proc happens fairly often, i think something like 2 ppm, combined with DST proc, flurry and mongoose, the swing timer hits around 1.44 (pre hotfix, it was 1.08). So the heroic strikes come a mile a minute. I love it, just wish it had str or something instead of stam.
The chest is just a server issue. The living ruby’s are rare, and the bold living ruby’s go for 75g to 150g, so i take my time in buying them, but i AM going to replace those two with +8 str.
Here’s my take on +hit. 200 hit is a number a lot of people throw around because of rage flow, which is good until you realize that after WW and BT, your rage is really used for HS (or cleave for some people who still think it’s threat efficient; it is, but the rage efficiency blows). I have tanks that I can go all out on with HS so that’s no prob, and especially considering haste, the HS’s become like ‘half’ instants.
Now, onto hit rating. My white damage accounts for something like 40-43% of my dps. Rage comes in bursts now (i used to use malchazeen, but i moved to spiteblade in anticipation of the patch), and it’s enough so that BT and WW are used every Cooldown. I don’t see many misses, to be honest, it’s mostly dodges, which i can’t do anything about (until patch).
With less hit, i focus more on the AP and the crit, both of which scale yellow AND white damage. +hit, after 8%, isn’t helping my specials, only my rage gen. But my rage gen is fine, like i said, i get to pop bt and ww every time they’re up. As for heroic strikes, especially with dragonmaw and DST proccing, along with flurry, they start to become the second primary dps source. So, again, more +hit isn’t going to benefit those (8% chance to miss on mobs 73 and up), but ap and crit will.
As for my WWS, i recently xferred servers, and the new guild i’m in doesn’t like running them too much. Well, not that they don’t LIKE to, just don’t really go into it that much, we all just keep our own recaps going - the emphasis isn’t so much on the dps as it is trying to kill a boss, with some exceptions. The guild before that, did, but the WWS reports are long gone. In the latest lurker kill, i ran something like 914 dps. I could probably hit higher, but i don’t stack haste potions or get bloodlust at times.
That’s kind of the stance a lot of guilds are taking lately. I’m in a guild with about 5 dps warriors, and they’re MS. My only gripe, and it’s something they acknowledge, is that, while 4% is a big raid wide buff, their own dps was nerfed from the WF hotfix. So while they may buff everyone else, their own dps kind of falls behind at times, while mine can go anywhere from 900ish to close to 1k.
But again, like i said in previous post, the focus is more on killing the boss with a substantial amount of dps, but also doing what you can for the raid. So while the MS wars might have the lower dps, they bring Blood frenzy and imp demo. In turn, however, I take imp tc to help on the fights where it matters, like Morogrim, Karathress, etc, so the tank can focus on his threat ability rotations and I’m free to go nuts on HS spam until thunderclap starts winding down.
I had piercing howl for a while for morogrim, and some trash, but I’m starting to see that is’ more of a gimmick or pvp oriented talent. The HS damage gain is laughable unless there’s a lot of warriors, and even then, the MS warriors rotate slams, ms and ww, NOT heroic strike like i do.
Fury is a tree where your utility is limited, but your dps can be very high. My gear, although good ins ome people’s eyes, isn’t the gear that really showcases that quite yet. When i start having 2100 ap and 32ish crit in zerker stance, that’s when I’ll really start forging ahead. But for now, it’s a struggle to make people know i’m worth a damn for the raid spot.
40ish % from white damage is pretty low, and probably reflecting mostly on the low hit. But 900+ dps isn’t bad at all, so whatever works for ya works for ya.
Of course, at that level of equal gear, rogues can push out way more dps than you can thanks to skills like vanish, right? I find it really hard to imagine a fury warrior can rely on skills like HS and not run into threat issues, especially when it comes down to execute time
Correct. Not to mention other changes here and there to their mechanics. With a slow mainhand, especially, the HS “spam” doesn’t generate a metric shit ton of aggro as it would if i used something fast. But that’s not to say i can’t catch up to a tank. You also have to remember that sometimes our MTs are protadins, or bears, not warriors. When it’s warriors, i’m more conscious about threat, or if it’s a fight like void reaver.
But, yeah, when it comes to fights like gruul, lurker, solarian, karathress, rogues can far outperform me from the simple fact that they can vanish, feint, etc. While i’m barely scratching the 1k mark, the rogues in similar if not slightly better gear, are fast approaching the 1300 mark. But again, even in that limelight, the rogues and dps warriors and even enh shammies get along well. We don’t bitch at each other for taking loot, etc. So, while i think min/maxing can work, you’re going to have some sore losers.
Again, though, that’s just our guild. I know min/maxing works well for other guilds, and more power to them, I’m happy where I am and just being able to do stuff that isn’t a 2 hour wipe-a-thon in a 5 man instance because nobody gives a rat’s ass about teamwork.
We get 10% innate from berserker stance. So this would be an additional 10% we’re getting. That said, you gotta also remember that pallies can easily generate probably double a warrior’s threat. They use spells, in melee range. Spells at 15-20 yards or farther will need 30% threat to overtake the tank, while melee only needs 10. So using stuff with spell damage on top of their melee, is basically like an ap pom pyro mage popping that combo and then arcane blast spamming in melee.
Don’t worry, I’ve been on ptr, the threat reduction we get is VERY noticeable. Then again, so is the fact that you can’t pop deathwish at 20%
Honestly if you’re going to go down that road, wait for 2.3 to start your druid. a lot of the early rewards will have spell damage (it used to only have spirit and int), and the level rate will be much faster.
But if you HAVE to go down that road, get int o.O crit + mana pool early on, and i think there’s a talent in balance to turn some of your int to spell damage. It’s not much, but, the way Live is right now, you’re not going to come across a great deal of +spell dmg gear until your 40+s or 50+s
