We would like to do our own release of the Cammy manga, though we are pursuing some other never-before-released SF & Capcom mangas first. But if we do get to it we would give it a new translation and preserve the original reading direction.
A press release will be coming very shortly giving all the details on when you will see both SFIV and SFIII stories. I’ll answer and of those Q’s once the PR is released, thanks for your patience! Feel free to speculate though
3 - We’d like to get to every SF character eventually…though I’m afraid we’ve already killed off Lee! maybe he can show up in flashback?
4 - Joe Ng is drawing the four SFIV backup stories. #2 will be Abel, #3 El Fuerte, #4 Rufus, and #5 C.Viper
In the comics he is their father. In the games he’s a relative. The Yun/Yang/Lee relationship in the games is kind of confusing actually which is probably why Udon did what they did.
EDIT: Oh, SFD also brung up Lee being mentioned in SF issue 10. Same issue where Yun and Yang’s father was stated to have died. An old post of his talking about when SF characters might appear in the comic.
See, that’s why it’s confusing. Lee is probably dead, speculated to have been killed by the Chinese mafia after losing SF1, Yun and Yang’s father is definitely dead, Yun and Yang work in a restaurant in Hong Kong that their adoptive Grandfather owned, Gen also has a restaurant in Hong Kong… I’m betting there’s a hole in the wall of Ken Siu-Chong’s office from banging his head against it trying to make heads or tails out of that particular mess.
Well, the “Gen has a restaurant that Yun and Yang work in” part is only in Udon’s comics. Gen ever having a restaurant was straight out of Pocket Fighter. Not only that, their grandfather owned an herbalist shop, not a restaurant. The brothers don’t work in one, but their girlfriends do.
Hey, Ken could always hire me to try. Fewer head-bangings at the very least.
come on, guys. we got to show support towards a sf 3 comic as well. I know you guys want to see one too. I love the whole series, but the sf 3 side is a little shaky right now.
-hey Matt, thanks for the answers. so the sf 3 comic is still being made right? I’ll buy out comic book stores if I can just please let us know it is still in the works.
Will UDON be releasing anymore of the small sized trade paper backs for Street Fighter II? I love having those around so I can read them without touching the singular issues or the Ultimate TPB editions and to lend to friends.
Q could be lurking around sooner than you think… keep your eyes peeled!
As for Lee, in our story yes he is Yun/Yang’s father, though we have only mentioned and not shown him.
There are definitely SF3 stories coming your way in 2009. Exact dates and details will be coming soon, patience
Definitely, we’ll be collecting all our series in small sized TPB’s, several of which will come out in 2009. The Turbo arc will probably be two 6-issue trades.
BUT we still hope you’ll keep collecting the individual issues! The better the individual comics do, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to bring you new series like SF Legends for other characters, Darkstalkers, or others.
Thank you so much, Matt. I have plenty of patience for your incredible comics. I, along with other fans, just want to see the whole universe and sf 3 is such an intriguing and special part of street fighter! Glad to know it’s coming and I will wait as long as it takes and we got the insanely well done and much appreciated turbo comics right now anyways until the sf 3 and other comics of yours (darkstalkers, more legends, etc) happens.
and can’t wait to see Q soon!
-just one thing, when you say sf 3 “stories” coming soon - you do mean “comics”, right? thanks again for the answers.
I know Udon is full of real fans of the series as well, that is one huge factor to why all of these characters and stories thus far have been so epic.
