Official UDON Q&A thread

Ibuki would be VERY nice to see in her own comic. Her background seems interesting enough, and i still want to know more about her than whats been handed to me from wikipedia lol.

So Matt, any chances of having anything like that? Where each character might get a comic/issue totally devoted to them? Well, with the proper amount of hype for it at least.

We’d like to have Joe do more work but the guy’s so busy! Hopefully we can have him back in the future.

Technically Star Wars tales WAS in continuity. It was dcided later (I don’t if by Dark Horse or Lucas) that the stories would be non continuity to the rest of their comics. Side note: UDON actually did the cover for Star Wars Tales #17!

Anyways, while we’re not averse to doing an anthology type book with stories about different characters or SF eras, they’re wouldn’t really be a point to making those stories out of continuity from our main universe. We’re prety free to take the characters where we want, and unless we have Ryu star punching babies or something, Capcom is generally okay with what we want to do.

We do have some ideas on some different approaches to the Legends series or other projects, so you could see some more specific character centric stories in the future. Ibuki specifically is a fave of several UDONers, so I’m sure we’ll get to her soon enough!

Ever considered doing “What If?” stories like Star Wars Infinities? For example I’m sure a lot of people would want to see Bison vs Gill, or what if Ryu did succumb to the Satsu no Hadou…

On that matter why is the Satsu no Hadou simply called the Dark Hadou in the comics?

Well, Bison VS Gill is still entirely possible…and who’s to say Ryu WON’T succumb to the Dark Hadou?

Satsu no Hadou is another one of the terms that has been translated many different ways between the games, anime and manga as things like Killing Intent, or Evil Intent, negative meanings. We settled on Dark Hadou as a better translation for Westerners, as it’s a bit more ambiguous. Succumbing to Satsu no Hadou is a dark path, but is it inherently evil? We shall see…

It’s actually satsui no hadou, and yes the “i” makes a world of difference in this case.

I think this is the right place to ask this, so I’ll just do it here:

WHAT’S THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE FOR THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE BOOK?!

I mean, seriously, Amazon keeps pushing the shipping date back.

I would like to have my freakin’ copy in front of me right now…

:bluu: nice try man

Yeah, I saw this post. Thanks, I was getting a little worried since the date kept changing on Amazon.

Thanks again!

I have a Secret Invasion #1 blank variant cover. You think any of the Udon artists would wanna draw me a Street Fighter Skrull characters?? :lovin:

Why isn’t 1520 out yet? I thought it was gonna come out in September.

Say have you guys given any thought to translating the Monster Hunter Orage manga? New Capcom manga in English is always a good thing.

Question about the new Street Fighter comic series coming out. Will there be RAW editions coming out too? I loved collecting these in the previous series of Street Fighter.

Goddamn I so want to see that.

Well, every year we have a different $20 item at our booth that comes with a free head sketch (like a sketchbook or an exclusive variant comic). You get to choose any character you like so I’m sure you could get a Skrully street fighter

We had to switch printers on 1520 so unfortunately this will delay the first volume until November.

We are looking at several new Capcom manga, though Monster Hunter would be a tough one. While it is HUGE in Japan, the game has a very small audience here in North america. Not sure if a manga would be viable, but you never know.

Whil we would love to atend every event, we already have a super busy con schedule. And we do need to find SOME time to actually work  But thanks for the invite!

This time we are not doing raw editions, but we do have some projects planned for next year that will give you more looks behind the scenes of UDON artwork. For Turbo though, series artist Chamba like to post a lot of step by step pieces on his deviantart page, you can check it out here!

That would be the best training sequence ever!

Ooo… speaking of Capcom manga… any chance of getting an unflipped version of Nakahira’s Cammy manga?

hey Matt, thanks for the answers so far.
-Is the sf 3 comic on time for a January 2009 release?

Wow! Those step by steps look fantastic. Love the behind the scenes stuff.

I read SFT #1 - I saw some ads about the Next Issue, SFL Chun-Li, and the new SF IV series.

I’m happy you guys are taking SF IV into consideration, but where does this put SF3?

Is this new SF IV series gonna delay the SF3 series?

uhh. no Udon, please don’t tell us you guys are delaying the sf 3 comics???!!??
