Ahh you’re near Mira Loma? Sweet. Maybe I should sneak into your facility and play on your beautiful sticks
8 button face can die in a fire. put the buttons on the sides or do what hori does with the xbox sticks and put em at top, as little buttons next to start/select.
my main gripe with hraps(except hrap1) is that the arcade layout buttons are the “inside” 6 buttons. My index finger and thumb naturally rest on jab and short and never move further to the left. They are like my place holder. Kinda like how the nubs on the “F” and “J” key on a keyboard are. The problem is, to me, my pinky could wander beyond the inside 6 button layout and touch the 7th and 8th button and my fingers can get confused and shift over to the outside 6, and now im hitting wrong buttons for a sec.
I know I’m not the only one that has this issue. It’s annoying having to constantly mod to get rid of those buttons and put hole pluggers in its place. and it looks rather tacky at times. and now i’m without those buttons for other use(moving about in leaderboards, special colors, entering codes, etc…) Unless I’ drill them on the sides. It’s just too much hassle for the average person.
bottom line, imo, 6 button face. theres no point of having 8 button face. put the spare buttons elsewhere =D
I did that same thing with the SFAC buttons, mashing on them, then going back to the left side was hard to do. I know exactly what you mean. I don’t really do that with JPN sticks as much for some reason though.
In response to Shin-RoTeNdO’s thread:
I’m sorry guys, none of that info will be given out. We’re not revealing specifications as of yet, but when they are available it will be posted. I apologize in advance.
The info from the GameStop meetings here at MC will be confidential and should not be made public knowledge. The district managers who visited last week were under NDA (non disclosure agreement) and future meetings will be no different.
Rotendo when you come by, ask for me we can talk at length about the arcade stick then.
I promise when info is available and can be given out, it will be. As of right now until things are final, we are not going to mention anything.
my bad
all good…
my bad ;(
Mark, where is my invite to test!? lol
Ask them who would win in a fight a madcat or pelican.
Markman as long as your updating us, there is light in this project. OR YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TIME GET BACK TO WORK
don’t let 8 buttons happen :<
But I SURE LOVE jamming on the :lk: numerous times for annoying poking action.
Eh Madcatz makes decent enough third-party gamepads & stuff, but an Arcade stick? No sir.
And this is why you read Markman’s posts before making comments.
I was mistaken, a google search has yielded no results for Madcatz in Rancho Cucamonga or Ontario. I coulda sworn we drove by a tilt-up concrete building with the madcatz logo on the side.
meh.
DISCLAIMER: AMERICAN STICK USERS DONT GET OFFENDED CUZ I KID *
If we stick to american sticks, americans will continue to SUCK! I have MAS Super Pro Stick with P360 and Happ comp. buttons but once I made the switch to HRAP2 with Sanwa buttons I can’t believe I ever could play on the mammoth beast that is a MAS stick. I’m a firm believer that you CAN “teach old dogs new tricks” Just because old-schoolers used to play on sticks that you have to arm wrestle in order to do moves doesn’t mean they can’t learn and actually like Japanese style sticks. In the early days of SF, most American gamers just didnt know any better about sticks but this is a different time. I know it’s all about preference but I just think you have to use the right tool for the job.
Isn’t the SFIV cab at Chinatown Fair a US distributed version? All the text, even winquotes, are in English, and the setup itself is primarily Sanwa.
Henry Cen put that setup together, and if I remember right you can change the settings for SF IV in the dip menu.
Will the Joystick have both USB Plugs for both the 360 & PS3
Short answer, without reading the thread, is
"No"
MarkMaaaaan please read this! :karate:
(it’s from Shin-Rotendo’s closed FGD thread)
It was an excellent point and I want to piggy-back on it. It’s probably worth reminding them that, in the end, no matter how successful SF4 turns out to be, arcade sticks in of themselves are a specialty item for a relatively niche market.
Simply put, your potential sales from hardcore fighting game (and I guess shmup) players far outnumber all the nostalgia/curiosity/random buys you could ever hope and pray for.
The best way to ensure this arcade stick’s commercial success is to target the bulk of potential customers (fighting gamers) and cater to them as much as is realistically possible. Learning to target your most-likely customers is a basic part of good business. To this end, expanding the potential customer base (ie. getting casuals to pick up one too) is a matter of vigorous love and approval from the connoisseurs (the hardcores whose opinions on the matter are respected, because they know what they’re talking about).
I assume that you’re fighting the classic fan-in-the-company war there of build quality versus production costs, at least to some degree. I don’t doubt you’re already pushing 100% for the best, but I figured phrasing it like this couldn’t hurt your (our) cause.
