Official Street Fighter IV FightSticks & FightPad Thread (More on the way!)

I have an odd question. If Madcatz is making alternate faceplates (did I read that right?), are there authorized techs to install them without voiding the warranty…?

The Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition FightStick by default are in the position of 4 ways when I look from this picture. You can clearly see it’s a square.

Ummm, is that bad???

good for charging charackters ; bad for zangief &co bt its easy changable with a octogonal gate

but all moves are exacutable with both…

not at all. Basically if your used to playing with american or “bat top” sticks, then change to Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate, if ur used to normal japanese sticks , then stick to 4way. If you dont care or dont know the difference etc. stick to 4 way.

It depends which characters you will play with. You can always put the 4 ways or the 8 ways by turning the ring in the clock wise.

On the Vewlix it’s in the 4 ways position for the first sets of picture (Sanwa JLF Stick).

Below, the seconds sets of picture it’s 8 ways position but they use another ring (Seimitsu Stick).

absolutly NOT!

if you like play shotostyle or 360 degreemotion chars much more than chargers at least try it^^

Well, this will be like pretty much my first time in so many years where I’ll SERIOUSLY be playing with an arcade stick (haven’t touched any in God knows how long) so the 4 way should be alright then right?

Well, ask Markman then if by default the TE stick is 4 way or 8 way… As much as possible I don’t want to open up the TE stick to void the warranty. (It’s also the reason why I’m getting the SE stick as well, just to mod)

I’m sorta worried since all the character I’ll be practicing with and really trying to get good at are characters like Cammy (My main) and Sakura.

Though, I’m thinking about it and I don’t think Markman will screw over shoto characters like Sakura especially with their TE stick.

I ordered the PS3 TE Fightstick, I am almost certain there is not a payment issue. Besides don’t they not charge your card until much closer to release?

I’m probably going to call Gamestop.com’s help line or whatever, just to make sure I’m in the clear. Thanks for the info though!

Just once more, anyone who ordered the PS3 TE fightstick from Gamestop.com are you getting the ‘Open’ and then ‘Verifying’ status on your order?

Is there any little chance these sticks (both TE and FS) are going to be compatible with TvC on Wii?

Will the Standard Edition sticks also be going for a lot on Ebay or will they be rare? If so, I’ll probably buy another SE stick along with my already pre-ordered one and probably sell the seconde one (maybe even keep it).

You’d have to probably mod since the wii is a whole different kind of hardware. (I’m just guessing here though)

Oh and Markman, please tell me that the Te stick is 8 way by default!! I don’t want to have to open the TE!!

The TE stick is the only one that’ll be going for crazy prices on Ebay since the SE stick isn’t limited by any means. So, if you’re planning on getting another SE stick do it because you need another stick for 2nd player otherwise selling on Ebay won’t make you a profit.

Really? I had heard that the SE sticks weren’t going to be too easy to find (not as rare as the TEs though).

nobody is screwed over, it is 100% a 4 way gate, it will not hamper your ability to do anything with anyone, if you prefer the 8 way then change it. None of Cammys moves are really complex (IMO they can be done consistently with little effort even with a pad). If you played a lot of cammy in SFII on american cabs you may prefer switching but otherwise I would recommend giving the stick a shot

well, its still 8 way, but its square, not octagonal or round.

Cool, thanks for the input.
Just these terms like “square” or “octagonal” is confusing me… lol sorry

Square gate is the default for cabs in japan. Also if you buy a sanwa JLF stick it comes with standard square gate. If you want to compete in tournaments in japan, or tournament here in the US that have jap cabs is better off if you learned in the standard square gate.

square gate is much better imo

I was horrible at executing special moves at Video 94 (circular gate)
Then i went to Upland (square gate) and hit everything really easy. And for awhile I had no idea it was square until my 3rd visit

So, the TE stick comes with a square gate right?

yes (see related inside pics inside this thread)
