SC2GGRise has been doing a lot of great commentaries too, Psyonicreaver is also doing some OSL/MSL and Yankee league games as well, so make sure everyone checks out their pages as well.
Also, everyone check out sc2gg.com, its a new site for Starcraft, almost all the commentators post their vids and info there, along with a lot of other players. The forums there is really helpful for anyone new (like me) or trying to get back into it.
teamliquid.net also, its like the SRK of Starcraft really.
I’m like an ad-bot now, but yeah, check out those sites.
Quarter-finals Flash (8-7 vs Z last 15 games) vs **Jaedong **(11-4 vs T last 15 games)-> **Jaedong **wins. This is going to be close. Flash is 8-7 against Zerg for the last fifteen games, but in Bacchus OSL he beat Jaedong 2-1. Still, I think Jaedong will come out on top.
**Much **(7-8 vs P last 15 games) vs **Anytime **(9-6 vs P last 15 games)-> **Much **wins. Both are about even in PvP, but Much kicked the crap out of his group and has been playing really well.
**Iris **(8-7 vs P last 15 games) vs **Bisu **(9-6 vs T last 15 games)-> **Bisu **wins.
**Sea **(7-8 vs P last 15 games) vs **Stork **(11-4 vs T last 15 games)-> **Sea **wins. Although Stork has a strong PvT, Sea dominated his group… including Bisu. This game could be really close though.
Semi-finals
**Jaedong **vs **Much **-> Jaedong wins.
**Bisu **vs **Sea **-> **Bisu **wins.
Finals
**Jaedong **vs **Bisu **-> ???
Honestly I’m not sure about Bisu and Jaedong… though I wish Bisu would win.
Of course, I think if Stork beats Sea then Bisu is fucked. So it could very well be Jaedong vs Bisu or Stork.
Is there a direct counter strat to the Bisu Build yet?
Seriously, I think Bisu could pretty well put out a great game against Jaedong.
I will be rooting for Bisu, just because I’m a Toss player.
I’ve heard it said that the Bisu Build isn’t so much a build so much as Bisu having the timing and game sense to open with forge + fast expand -> corsair + reaver/DT so there isn’t really a direct counter build since Bisu would just manage to keep his corsairs alive against most “counter” builds.
That said… Blue Storm has been unkind to Bisu in PvZ- lost to sAviOr proxy hatch -> hydra attack, lost to Jaedong in a long game where his constant reaver harass didn’t slow Jaedong down much at all, lost to July’s 2 hatch hydra timing attack that killed his gateway before a DT could pop out and save him. Maybe he’s just spoiled by playing Katrina all the time in Proleague ;(
So shrug… it seems like the build is vulnerable to timing attacks like… right before the first cannon goes up, there is a chance you can squeeze lings past his expo and go right into his main (cf. Luxury’s 5pool on Troy). His unit count isn’t really all that big to start off with since he’s quick teching to corsair- there’s a window between when the Zerg can have the units to break the cannons and attack the main with superior numbers and the point when the first DT/reaver appears (as seen by July’s successful attack, that window might be kinda small).
Though honestly, Bisu has been doing pretty much the same opening for a while now and we have still yet to see a Zerg player beat him in a series. It’s all well and good that people pull off the occasional timing push so that people are like “omg Bisu is too predictable” but the fact is that most of the time he manages just fine.
Shame Jaedong got TvZ meched so that we can’t see a long anticipated Jaedong v. Bisu best of 5 match.
Well for average players its easy to catch a mistake and get owned in the first 10 minutes by mass ling, hydra push, quick tech.
Bisu is really consistent with his scouting and prepares on time for pretty much whatever the Z is doing. That said, recently he has lost several times to 3hat hydra and Jaedong already beat him in a straight up game with basically amazing hydra/ling/lurk(And eventually defiler) play on Blue Storm.
Yellow[arnc](Not to be confused with Yellow on KTF) also recently 4pooled bisu on the assimilator wall-in map, then after killing his cannons, forge and pylon at nat proceeded to fence bisu in and expand all over lol. prob the best “countering” of bisu ive seen.
My brother uploaded those. He’s currently having trouble uploading them because UCLA just got a new anti virus. I don’t think he can continue uploading them unless UCLA gets a different one. =(
Flash is impressing me more and more. Jaedong finally has a Terran opponent that can push him, and beat him. Flash’s defense in OSL Katrina was to the point.
In the tournment matchups (MSL, OSL, GSI) they are 1-1. Game wise, they are 4-3 Jaedong. the GSI matchup is going to be epic.
I think Flash vs Jaedong will be the closest games in the Starleague Invitational tournament, given Flash’s recent games and Jaedong’s overall skill level… but I think Jaedong will come out on top. Still, it can go either way I think.
I might go to bed early tonight and wake up at 3am for the excitement of LIVE!
How are they doing the quarter finals though? With 8 players playing best-of-three matches, that means the quarter finals will last anywhere between 8 and 12 matches. Even at its shortest, it will be longer than the previous group rounds. Are they going to show them all? Man it’s gonna be like a marathon!
I see and the units I was mentioning in the post just seems to be whats happened in every game I’ve seen. (forgot about vessels)
Also - Terran seems to be a really slow civ as far as building and techs go (again im not an SC player just going but what I see). Its pretty fucked that protoss can just warp in a building whenever they feel like and send the probe back to minerals/gas but terran has to use an scv to build it for the whole, slow time.
I would like to play the game but I feel its awfully late to start picking it up now.
