flash vs reach!
so far today the Gom matches have been pretty bad. As a Terran user i’m disappointed.
Best match so far was the one where the toss had all DT’s, and tried to rush inside. GG
LMAO
what is up with this scarab talk. I wish I knew what they were talking about.
Flash’s eye is in macro mode OOPS I AM GOING TO HELL
yo. before I start, I wanna say I realize this is the Starcraft thread.
that said, a friend of mine made a map for Frozen Throne, it’s supposed to model WC3 in SC’s style of play. there’s 8 different races to choose from: Alliance, Centaur, Elf, Orc, Undead, Treant, Mystic, and Hunter. I’d give you a description of each of them, but my grasp on the different races isn’t very deep. so I’ll cover just a few of them. BTW, Elf, Undead, Alliance, and Orc are nothing like their WC3 counterparts.
Undead: Remember before WC3 came out, they were described as corpses being their resource and not needing to mine gold? Well there ya go. They require no gold, lumber, or food. I was amazed at how this race turned out. playing them REALLY makes you feel like you’re the Undead and not just “a different race”, it’s like they’re immortal and unkillable. you require only mana, corpses, and any of the various undead mages to make units. Theoretically, you could make all your undead mages create more undead mages and snowball your power into unknown heights… so in that sense, they’re limitless and there’s nothing to stop you from doing this, except the other player. the units are seriously expendable, too. to describe just how expendable… If a Toss player loses 50 units he’ll probably forfeit. if a Zerg player loses 50 units he’ll shit his pants. If an Undead player loses 50 units, not only does he not give a shit, there’s 50 more just like it back at home. They’re vicious attackers with complex strategies surrounding them. If I had to pick a weakness for Undead, I’d say they really fear an excellent attack. they need mages to make more units, so if you kill every last mage then they can’t make anything.
Hunter: Undead used to be my favorite race until I started messing around with Hunter. The race consists of trolls, goblins, murlocs, and various animals. They’re a race with very specialized group units. You thought stimmed firebats to lings was a hardcore counter? you have NO fucking idea until you play this race. the right choice of unit from them shuts down EVERYTHING that unit counters. Though that’s what I love most about them, I should also mention the other things that make them different from most races. The first noticeable thing that makes them different is the food system. Instead of building a farm like Alliance would, they need to buy and kill animals from their slaughterhouse in order to have food, and the food they do receive is temporary. Also, if another player kills your food, THEY receive the benefits. The second noticeable thing is how the units are built. Nearly all of Hunter units are built INSTANTLY, since their training works like mercenary camps do. Third noticeable thing is their tactics in battle. Though Hunter units are frail, they have high damage output. They also have many different traps and abilities they can use… though, I don’t know too much about them . I only use the Ranger’s landmines. Anyway, as far as weaknesses, I’d say their weakness is that it’s hard for them to expand and/or build up a strong economy, and that… if you ever get countered, you better respond quickly or you’re dead.
Centaur: I don’t play this race, but a friend I go up against all the time does. Centaur is a fast paced race full of utter RAPISTS, very similar to Zerg. they consist of centaur, satyrs, and harpies. their Domes work like Hatcheries, in that any Centaur unit you need is built in the Dome. their buildings are built almost instantly. their noticeable weaknesses are that their units are kinda frail, their buildings are flimsy, they have no defense structures, and they can’t repair.
there are a few things to note about RW in comparison to WC3. first one, lumber is the main resource. second, the only race that has heroes is Mystic. third, like I said before it’s SC style; the units are powerful, shit dies QUICK, games end quick unless they’re just meant to be long.
downloading the maps comes with a desc for each race. take a look at the game yourself:

tl;dr?: custom map for FT, created with SC style in mind. nothing like the original WC3. 8 races. want players.
OMFG, if i could…i’d ban you from this thread. No such talk of the foul thing called WC3 is tolerated.
I haven’t been digging Gom this season. Stork is out. ForGG is out, even though I think he’s garbage any way. It seems like a lot of the pro’s don’t take it seriously.
seeing as how there’s not really a thread agenda I really don’t see a problem.
Check it out or don’t, but don’t be a lil bitch about it either. that’s all I got to say on that
WC3 is whack compared to SC.
High level Starcraft play is amazing in my eyes.
I’m not sure if this is in response only to his post, or if it doubles as a response to mine as well. if it’s the latter, please read the edited tl;dr at the very bottom of the post. after that all’s good
I believe I stated before I ever head it used, that wc3 requires no macro. Fisher price style maps + slow ass gameplay. Wc3 may as well be hero arena for all I care.
Does not help that pro players, no matter the matchup or map do the same thing EVERY time.
i refuse to play wc3. i hated it the very first time i played since i played SC first. Starcraft is like my favorite game, wc3 fails in competition so it isn’t even worth my time to play.
that being said, i play Race Wars more than i play SC right now. it really is nothing like wc3 (as omfg said in his post). the wc3 units are completely different in RW and the gameplay is very similar to SC.
i understand not wanting to give it a chance if you think it’s like wc3, but it isn’t at all. it even has some starcraft units in it as a homage (like the Alliance Gryphon Rider obviously = Mutalisk… 100/100 price, bouncing attack, light armor, etc). Match-ups are important again, recon is important again because unit counters exist again, splash damage is back, etc.
the Zerg is pretty much my fave SC race, and i play Centaur in RW because they remind of the Zerg. they’re really fast paced, sworms of powerful units that actually put the Zerg to shame, lol.
i’ve been looking forward to having more people to play RW with so it sucks to hear people saying they won’t even give it a chance.
i say don’t knock it till you try it.
Response to his. I actually love WC3 custom maps…and thats it.
When you say WC3 custom maps. You meant Dota. And that’s it.
So Bisu like the little faggot he is, bawws to Kespa about Proxy Hatches on Neo Medusa.
Now, Z can’t proxy hat at all on that map. Yet T and P are still allowed to make shit there? Bullshit.
God, fuck lazy protosses who can’t adapt to a strat that is far from unbeatable and especially fuck bisu for being a whiny lil bitch.
 really? Funny but it interesting if you look at his record he been very dominate when the maps are in Protoss favor. And just very good when it so-so. I like Neo Medusa it way better then the original piece of shit.
He lost to Great’s proxy hat on the map because he attacked into it like a retard.
Way are you serious about them not allowing zerg to proxy? Why not just throw out the map altogether. That seems ridiculous. It’s hard to believe.
Harem is just being bitter towards Protoss as always. It’s not banned to proxy hatch on Neo Medusa, but the map is probably going to be changed so that you can still build supply depots and turrets, but not enough space to build Hatcheries (kinda like the middle of Python).
I don’t really know why this was done, I guess it’s because the strategy really only has 2 counters to it which is to stop it from starting which is easier said than done and the 2nd is to just go corsair reaver to shut down Zerg’s ability to reinforce and continue maintaining the contain and so Zerg just can’t mass expand. Though this is still extremely risky for the Protoss making this strategy very dominant for the Zerg as the Protoss has to start with Corsair Reaver in mind, it’s not a transitional build where they see the hatch and go into it.
Well whatever, it’s Kespa’s ruling to make the change just like they made the change when Terran were getting dominated on Medusa so I welcome it as maps just force players to figure new stuff out. A new version of Medusa will probably be out on May 30th for SPL 08-09 R5 and it will most likely be just an iteration rather than a change of maps like Battle Royale being swapped for Shadow of Twilight.
