I think Dhalsim should keep his throw range, makes complete sense for his character. Other stuff though needs to be sorted out. Push back from yoga flame is a must!!! >_<

you can join games by hitting “Y” on the players game you want to join without it crashing 99% of the time.
that’s a lot of damage; it’d have to be nerfed in the damage for sure.
we weren’t joking.
if it is the end of the year. i am not getting another 360. ps3 it is
All the characters Sim kills are either getting better or getting stuff that’ll be more useful against Sim, so I don’t think there’s any need to make serious changes to him. I like the nerfing of his noogie throw range while keeping his big fierce throw range, I think that’s a nice solution. And reworking yoga flame with pushback or something seems like a good idea, no need for him to have that corner trap… although I guess that can be (is being?) solved by giving the characters he can trap better ways out.
Heh but yeah, looking forward to juggling yoga flame/blast.
I don’t know much about how sim should be played but yeah I agree about nerfing noogie corner trap a little bit considering he can already lock down most of the cast in the corner with his controllable limb mixups+drill.
I said a lot more about sf4 but I guess they didn’t want that in
No word on an updated build for Evo, is there?
i’d be surprised if they have anything that’s finished (art-wise) beyond that build at BOD. :bluu:
the HD remix build @ BOD was the e3 build, Vega’s lose portrait wasn’t even coloured in yet.
I hope they have a version of the game with all the characters and their new changes. If that means bringing a build without the new artwork, then that’s cool, bring some versions with the old artwork and all the characters and some with the new artwork and only the characters with finished art.
That upgrade would be really strong! As much fun as I’d have using it, I don’t think it’d be a good one.
As far as his noogie loop goes, I don’t think nerfing his throw range is the right way to go. He can get close enough to dry hump your leg after the noogie, so nerfing the throw range won’t really stop the loop. The only thing it’ll do is cause him to have to get closer to you on each repeat, which to be fair would make it easier for some characters to counter throw him. But mostly, it’ll just make slightly it harder for noogie you in the first place. I think a better change would be to alter the properties of the recovery from the noogie. Maybe knock the opponent back a little further or give him a couple of frames of recovery or something?
I’d also agree that I don’t think Sim needs too many nerfs given the upgrades to everyone else. Ryu gets his fake fireball, it sounds like guile’s sonic boom has been fattened up so you can’t punch under it, etc.
My naive idea:
Evo should have one or two consoles running the full version of the game using old character art, with a giant disclaimer on it so people don’t come away with the wrong idea.
Run the feed from those “full character” versions to a recorder, and you’ve got a few days of outside playtesting that might catch crazy retarded shit. People get to try the full game, and you get a dev. benefit from it. Although getting somebody who knows what they’re doing watching 36 hours of gameplay for bugs is probably too time intensive to bother.
i wouldn’t mind being able to throw Sim much easier.
i say nerf his throw range! GRRRrrrr!!!
and give Guile a fake boom (qcf+k or some shit). lol.
i’d rather have that, then no full cast to test on. this is a very good idea that i’m sure others have thought of also.
Honestly, it’s what I expected to see at the Street Fighter Club thing, and then when that didn’t happen, it’s what I expected to see out of BoD. I knew that the artwork wasn’t done so I wasn’t expecting to see the full new game with remixed characters and finished art, I was just expecting to see the regular ST art with all the remixed characters available. I didn’t think it was just an exhibition, like, “Here’s a peek at what’s done so far,” I thought it was being shown in part because they wanted some actual feedback on the changes they’d made. After all, BoD and especially SFC had some extremely high level players in attendance, so not having the full play changes available seemed like a waste of a mini closed beta to me. Hope they do things differently at Evo.
This is very disappointing to hear. I’m definitely still keeping the faith in Sirlin and Co., but it would help my peace of mind if we could get some feedback from top competitors who have played the version with the latest changes.
Marketing didn’t like the sound of it, I imagine. It looks better to the general population to have the newest artwork in, even if it means not having all the updated characters available.
That is most likely why. Sort of hard to hype a game as new when using 1994 graphics. Of course, we do not care but marketing probably does.
All they need to do is to hire (or even exploit lol, for lack of better words) a few respected players and it should be fine. I mean, a few days after the demo’s release, desk brought out a vid with things even the testers them selves didn’t know. If Capcom want any success in this game (Remix) and to walk away with a smile on their face, they need to get MORE involved with the community and let them test shit out. And of course, Capcom have probably never been so involved in the community up untill now (E3, BoD, Evo etc), but they’re making a lot of bold changes, way beyond balancing the game like origionally planned. I think holding back will give them more problems and if things are truely going along with respect to the current playable roster, it’s going to be a while before everything is sorted out.
So yeah, I’m kind of worried for the game. At the very LEAST, they should release the Evo build as the new update and give people a proper chance to play test other characters besides Ryu and Ken…
Oh, on a side note, is the demo still available?
If there were two main changes i could make from what I played at BoD, it would be to increase the number of stun points required and lower damage.
Well some top players have played the game during balance testing, it’s not like it’s just been Sirlin by himself. But Capcom is really missing out on opportunities by not at least allowing SF fans at certain events help out as well. I have a lot of respect for the players who’ve gotten to test the game, but exposing the game to as many balance testers as possible can only be beneficial, and considering that finding new combos is pretty time-intensive, the more man hours available for balance testing, the better. After all, even though Ken’s huge juggling shoryu combos were already part of an old build by the time the beta was released, it wasn’t until Desk sat down and made that combo video that we realized the problems with Ken’s roundhouse hurricane kick as well. Finding that kind of thing doesn’t necessarily take a proven tournament winner, it just takes someone with an inventive mind and some time on his hands.
I really wish they’d drop the non-disclosure agreements, too.
screw marketing! they’re already late! it won’t make a difference on the art or not now!
just bring out the completed game with the old graphics to EVO!
