its reduced, but not significant. its only the initial hit that is nerfed, which is definitely not that much.

leraldo: i knew you would say that since you are hardcore HF. Giving both shotos would make them more similar again. on the upclose fighting, there really isn’t anything gained from either side, if both get invincible dp’s. then you would have ryu still dominate the zoning game with faster fireballs, and the fake fb of course, keeping ryu above ken. Giving ken just invincible startup, i think is good.

I do find it silly too, that when a ken mirror is taking place, both players guessing as to which dp is gonna be used by their opponent (jab or strong) and then counter using the other dp. And why does it seem, that sometimes, when the person waking up with reversal jab dp, versus his opponents jab dp, that the wakeup dp loses on the last frame of the dp? The person standing HAD to start the dp at the exact same time or earlier, to avoid the startup hit of the wakeup. with that said, the reversal dp should be >>> than the standing person’s jab dp.

maybe i am imagining things, but i swear this happens sometimes. pretty silly imo

edit: another silly ken mirror match situation, is wakeup ken vs standing ken, eachother beating out dp with a different dp, and vice versa. seems kinda generic to me.

Sabre: Waking Ken uses reversal jab dp, which doesn’t hit for a frame or two (iirc, it’s two, but it’s not immediate whatever it is). Standing Ken uses jab dp a frame or two after Waking Ken’s, just before he gets hit. Both are invulnerable for a period of time, but then because Waking Ken started his jab dp before Standing Ken, he loses his invincibility first and gets hit. Not much to be done about this I don’t think, making jab and strong dp immediate would be pretty dumb.

I believe dic’s fake slide is meant mainly for throw shenanigans considering how terrible dic’s throw game was already:wink:

Can’t wait to try out sagats new crossup forward, lk, double tiger knee combo.

I think the comments about Dictator are pretty much correct. He really feels like a one or two trick pony with a major corner weakness and a few moves that can only be safely used in rare situations. He’s great on the attack with scissor kick combo tactics --> dizzy and also a decent throw, but I never feel like I have too many options playing him (and he’s my #1 guy). Jabs are solid, st. MK and HK have a range and quickness that seems to surprise many opponents…blah I’m just saying a bunch of stuff that is already known. I guess we’ll eventually see what the fake slide can do add to his repertoire.

Also, I was wondering what you guys think of going to default 5 rounds for ranked/tourney matches as per the new patch?

Dic is NOT a ā€œ1 trick ponyā€ in the least he’s all about aggressive momentum and guessing games. Yes he has a few major weaknesses but i’m sure they will be addressed because that’s the whole point of remixed mode right?

I hope tiger mixups still work =/

Heh, I was wondering why nobody mentioned it. I like it, at least for online play, since three round matches seem too short when you have to connect to the other player, wait for the other players to finish when in a tournament, etc.

On the other hot topic: I don’t like fake moves, but I’d take Vega’s fake walldive over Ryu’s fake fireball any day. Fake fireball makes corner traps excessively nasty imho and too deadly for some characters, unless they received specific buffs to deal with them.

Also, I agree Ken’s kneebash is still too strong and I’d like his loop removed (and he seems too powerful to me now, but I’m a newb and I dislike him).

I think it would further differentiate them from the rest of the cast that have similar kinds of AA’s.

There’s still quite a few differences between the two Shoryukens. Ken’s now have farther range, hit in less frames, always knock down, and the fierce SRK can juggle. And of course I believe they should add invincibility on his fierce SRK.

If they made Ryu’s SRKs like it was in HF, he would have invincibility on all of them, the fierce SRK wouldn’t knock down if done too close, he’d have pretty weak range compared to Ken, and he of course doesn’t have as many combo options as Ken does with his SRK, because it hits a few frames later, it doesn’t juggle, and it has less range.

Now, this isn’t something I think Ryu and Ken absolutely need in terms of balance or anything like that. This is just how I would like to see them. And I don’t think it makes them too similar, either. I mean, they both do practice the same art, right?

Like Sabre, I’m still a little confused about Dictator’s fake slide (both in how it would execute and…well…why?). Dictator also has options for days depending on the match up. The only thing he can’t do is lean back in the corner. Claw fake wall dive? That character needs more nerfs than improvement imo. Even if he has the occasional retarded match up (fake wall dive = counter the Blanka staring match? :wgrin:).

That’s my theory fighter for the day.

ultra: ah ok, im with ya

leraldo: i dont particularly hate r.ken dp or anything. it just seems a little overkill considering the other buffs he has as well. plus havent used him vs the others, so it could be no biggie anyway.

thrazz: kneebash loops are good, but if you got good reversal skills, that shit aint doing nothing. I reverse cigarbob’s kneebash loops with about 80% success rate.

No he’s not literally a one trick pony. I meant he can feel like one at times compared to some of the more varied approaches you can take with other characters. You may disagree and/or play a much better dictator, but I personally feel very constrained in a lot of situations.

you sohuld see giga-msx play dictator… WOW. Dude got so many freaking shenanigans, its retarded. lots of options. I can never read the guy cuz hes always doing something different to kick my ass. It’s scary

Cigarbob keeps telling me how good this guy is. I started maining dictator a few months ago all thanks to this vid:looney::looney::looney:

The fake moves kind of read as ā€œwell we want to change this character but don’t have any great ideas - fake move!ā€

I agree that dedicated fake moves are weak compared to repurposing existing moves.

yeah i can vouch for giga personally, as well as some socal og’s. hes local to me as well, scariest dictator I have ever witnessed/played against. Hopefully he can make it to evo this year.

Whats funny about that video is he got even more silly tricks now. PLus hes not all about the shenanigans. His footsie game, and just overall knowledge of the game is mind numbing. He’s the reason why I’m kinda scared about the fake slide, rofl

LOL @ the fake hate.

Fake fb adds ALOT to ryus rushdown game and is a more effective tool then any of us could have imagined when it was first announced (even more deadly in the hands of top players I bet.) It adds to the mind games of a match and instead of making ryu something he’s not it only enhances the rest of his playstyle for the better.

Although we don’t have any footage of dic’s fake slide or even any official confirmation a source told me dics fake slide doesn’t do any hit/block stun yet puts him in range for a throw:looney: But if you think about it how often will you be using dcs fake slide when he has so many better options to play with most of the time? not to mention how an opponent will probably look for it once he gets walkup thrown after it. IMO from the sounds of it it won’t be as useful as ryus fake fb but will still prove as a worthy addition to his already great throw game.

Can anyone who mains claw put a positive spin on fake walldive or how it could be implemented without being as stupid as it sounds?

Theory fighter FTL???

Yeah, I am scared of any buffs Dictator gets too. Giga owned me up worse with dic than he did with his rog. I do have a weakness against good dictators though, dunno why. I don’t want him to be god tier again, maybe it’s the old burned in CE memories that makes me fear, don’t know.

Can’t wait until this comes out, going to be extra fun testing out all this new stuff in a system I am so familiar with.

you probably know this

I can’t believe this website is doing the new remix music for the game

Did you test the range? Are you sure it’s not just the faster speed that’s making the kneebash seem better than it actually is?

I haven’t been able to play HD Remix that much.

Also I’m against Dictator getting ANY buffs. The dudes already top. Giga is the best Dic player in the US by far, but even if I had never played him I would be against buffing him.

None of the hate against fake moves has anything to do with people worrying that they won’t be effective, and the few people who aren’t sold on the usefulness of the fake fireball don’t hate it because they think it’s ineffective. The hate on fake moves is about the way they’ll be effective, that is, by making the game more guess-y or balancing the characters in an awkward way. Yeah fake fireball adds to Ryu’s rushing game, and yeah it increases mind games. Those are problems to me.
