CigarBoB Vs. Sirlin.

I havent seen the video of fake wall dive, people arent mistaking it for a normal walldive without the strike???

We haven’t seen video of the fake wall dive. There’s a vid from someone at E3 playing Claw, and you can hear two guys talking about how Claw now has a fake wall dive that you can do by pressing down+k in the air. There might be a moment where one guy does it, but the camera man shifts off screen for that split second, so you can’t see for sure. That’s why I conditioned my statement about a fake wall dive, since we’ve heard about it but it hasn’t been confirmed visually or by anyone else.

I haven’t played anything except the beta that we all have on 360, but a very good source told me over a month ago that Vega had a fake wall dive but it was deemed too good so it will likely be nerfed somehow or maybe taken away.

One time my friend was playing Sirlin in the beta and I got on the mic and asked if it was true that he would have a fake wall dive and of course his only response was ā€œmaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyybeeeeeee.ā€

Ack, you changed ST to SF2, and game to series, thus stopping any ā€œbut it is a new gameā€ comments. Sneaky. :stuck_out_tongue:

that fake is just used as a bait. anyone can see that.

if you see the vid, yes, indeed, that fake did happen. vega drops down from the wall.

even if you controlled the descent from the dive in ST, it goes way further than that fake that was shown on the vid, where he just drops down.

i am very exiced to see the new build with original ST speed. i think with slowing down the speed the fake moves will be more useful.

LOL just make him into a fireball QCF motion character; that would get him out of that ā€œi’m taking a big fat shitā€ position!

i’m sure Sirlin will find a way to make Honda fun to play and play against. :woot:

I hope they give Honda a fake Headbutt (like K+K+K so you could keep your charge)
Then Oochio them when they wiff their Dragon Punches.

That would be awesome

Obviously I hope that doesn’t happen, but there’s no real reason not to do it, as far as I could tell. Would it help Honda in some difficult matchups? It would.

baiting psychic Dragon Punches would be so awesome!

 Your intense hatred for Honda always makes me smile :wgrin:

Some of these fake moves seem weird to me. Vega already had a fake dive. You just hold back. So why give him a better fake dive? Did his wall-dive game really need improvement? I’m sure the normal dives are going to be nerfed a bit, but still.

I’m also not sure I understand the point of Bison’s fake slide. From up close, he’s already got great mixups with LK x ? into scissor kicks, psycho crusher, or throw. So, I assume the fake slide is meant to be used from a bit further away. But doing a slide from further away doesn’t usually bait some move to come out. People just sit there and wait and then counter during the awful recovery time of the slide. So, if the point of the fake slide is to give your opponent pause, what does that buy you? I dunno. I guess it’s too difficult to analyze without seeing how it works. Still, I wonder if simply improving the existing slide would be a better buff.

Well there’s most likely not going to be very much recovery on the fake slide. So I’m imagining fake sliding from the right range so that you start recovering just as you reach the person, so you can either throw, or do something like overhead with j.forward if they’re low on life. And of course, depending on the distance of the slide, you can probably bait moves.

It would be cool if holding down the button determined how long you slid. So you could do a very short slide or go as long as his actual slide goes.

other than fake fb for ryu. i don’t really care for fake moves, imo. I never understood why dictator, and especially claw, needed them. they were so strong without em. then again, i dunno what can be done to make dictator better without giving him better hitboxes or something. but then again, i think he was fine the way he was, just a really strong character. The idea of a fake slide just makes me nervous a little bit. Using it as a dash, using it for throw mixups. using for more crossunder shenanigan tricks, similar to how regular slide shenanigans work.

as for claw, the thought scares me more. even without the dive shenanigans in ST, I still considered this character top tier. maybe he added it in to help him a little with honda? or even blanka? to avoid each characters vertical attack and to bait it? I’m not sure.

I’m not too much of a fan of everyone having fake stuff. It would just seem kinda homogenous to me for everyone to start getting fake moves, then the games start to devolve into baiting people with these moves, more often. i liked the fact that we have created our own methods of baiting using moves, that were NOT intended to do such things. I find that much more interesting.

just one man’s opinion

edit: is anyone else starting to feel that ken’s invincible dp’s are a little overkill? i think startup should be invincible and thats it. all i know, is ryu is fuxed against him, up close. Granted, we can argue that invincible dp for o.ken didn’t affect the game. but now we have a ken with a better dp, better arch, along with a super, a super thats easily comboed, and more versatile attacks overall(s.short, s.rh, and crazy kicks). I’m beginning to wonder if the full invincible strong and jab dp is a little bit much.

opinions?

Nah. Knee Bash mixups was such a big part of N. Ken’s game that now that it’s been nerfed he needed a lot of buffs not to just make up for it, but also to compete with the top.

He’s a much better overall character now, and maybe he’ll even be among the top, but I seriously doubt he’s going to be too good.

For Dictator, I’m really not sure he needs to get any better. But to the extent that he does, I think that needs to be balanced out by making him not as awesome in other areas. Like if he gets a good escape move, something with invincible startup to get him out of bad situations like being cornered by a grappler, ok, in my opinion he becomes top tier because his major weakness is gone, so balance him out by making it so that he can’t make the opponent’s stun meter go from no stun at all to fully dizzy in a single combo. This makes him more balanced and maybe more competitive, but in my opinion way less interesting because he’s much less of an ā€œall-or-nothingā€ style character

BTW, slide isn’t useless, it’s good for a meaty crossup after a throw, a way to get up close to the opponent quickly after knocking him down while keeping charge, and even the situation max-range knockdown. I think it’s a pretty good move, and I like the fact that it’s useful in non-traditional ways.

lol dude, me and cigarbob use ken like crazy, in st and obviously in the beta. the kneebash is BARELY nerfed. the throw range is nerfed so minimally. all the tricks STILL work 100%, just walking in from a blocked air hk is a LITTLE bit riskier, but still extremely strong.

if you played the beta, you would know this =)

I barely notice the nerf too. It’s more like a thin rubber coating wrapped around a pipe rather than the pipe being wraped in nerf sponge…if that makes any sense! :wgrin:

No wai! I would even prefer it if both Ryu and Ken had ALL of their Shoryuken’s invincible (Like HF, babay). I’ve always felt that was the way Ryu and Ken were meant to be.

ya, I thought the damage was supposed to be reduced on the knee bash?

Doesn’t ssem like it.
