Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

Capcom didn’t say their solution is telling you to use a wired connection.

Word, but if helped, I would cry tears of sadness.

If you’re a bit crazy you can get ethernet adapters over power outlets.

You can get them for $50-$100 on ebay, and supposed don’t have the same kind of packet loss you see over wireless. Not too pricey considering the outrageous price of the 360 wireless adapter.

spend a couple bux and get some lengthy cat 5 cable, its either that or suffer worse gameplay and make the other players suffer from your laziness as well. wireless is not good for gaming, especially these games. fuck wireless

this is so true; don’t be lazy and just get some cables!

This. It’s cheaper and better to spend an afternoon wiring your house than it is buying a bunch of wireless adapters and getting packet losses.

Alright niglets, if any of you want to come over to my place and use your wiring and dry wall repair skills I am all for it.

Do it yourself, and make sure there are girls watching. Shit, how better to find your way into someone’s pants than to handyman your way in?

I understand your concern, but I think it may be a little pessimistic. Given the pricing structure of XBLA, I can’t see them releasing characters at $10 a piece. Probably more like a 4-pack of characters for $10. Anyway, this is all probably moot since I doubt it’ll happen in the first place.

Or just run the cables along walls. Dirt simple. It’s what I do, anyway.

But yeah, wireless connections and fast-paced online games aren’t a very effective mix coughNintendocough

Yeah wireless is a big joke.

I just have a cat5 running across the middle of my carpet. Sometimes it gets unplugged.

This.

Individual DLC characters is a fucked idea on so many levels. My slightly knee jerk reasoning made short includes:makes the case for making a new Street Fighter title harder…risk creating a convoluted experience…also risk making the experience seem like a janky pieced together product, where you need to buy “parts” to get the full experience…I’m generally anti-DLC for crucial elements of a game…the point of this remake was to be, well, a remake. It’s DLC jumping the shark. Please stop encouraging this.

i run all my cable along the corners/sides of the rooms/hallways/etc… you cant even notice it in my place. buy some white cat5 (or even better, cat6) cable and it blends in more. Or if you got conveniently placed rugs on the floor and run it underneath, that works too. It’s really not that hard.

The Unity blog posts about the netcode just shows their incompetence. Really? They didn’t account for packetloss? Reading it left me amazed. Rookies.

Oh, I KNOW, those incompetent fuckers! On their first try they only managed to make the best online fighting netcode on a console ever. How fucking embarrassing. School them them some more dude!

EDIT: Before somebody chimes in about xband, apples and oranges. Xband was direct connection.

What if they do 4 new characters at once as a single expansion? Seems like the route they’d take anyway were they to do it. If they were ever to release character DLC I’m sure Sirlin would fight to make sure it was done in a smart way.

More news on the patch and video of it in action! Looks promising:

At that ridiculous price, perhaps. But let’s say it’s $10 for all five characters. We can totally expect that. You don’t run Reign of Chaos because I don’t want to spend ten bucks on Frozen Throne. Besides, the initial game costs money, the consoles to play it on are super expensive… Even playing in an arcade costs you. At any reasoonable price, they should be tourney legal. I mean, 3S was 50 on release, right? Oh no, I only have 2I, make everyone play that!

Fucking great news! =)

i just nutted at that blog. that is freaking AWESOME! you can definitely see the speed difference too. but it wasn’t noted if he slowed speed 2 to us fs3, or if he moved the current speed to speed 3 and made speed 2 the same as us fs2, etc…

either way, the netcode demonstration is AWESOME, to say the least. that’s like night and day.

All that sounded great (especially the speed setting ), up until he said “extend the beta”! I see 2009 as a release date now.
