Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

Was hoping for something a little more dramatic, but the style suits the Vegas vibe.

This new t.hawk without the whiff would have been so serious, beast mode all day.

Is that a fake Max Out at 0:46??
What the shit?!

The new soundtracks sound good but Boxer’s one sounds a bit weird for me - reminds me of him in a Tux in the old animated movie.

Edit: nevermind it’s just st.hp. All this talk of whiffing must have got to me.

It looks so much better without the tacky particle effects that it feels like I’m looking at a different game (compared to the beta).

yep and it looks like crap just like the fireball clouds. remove them all please. these bootleg cgi effects on a 2d sprite-based game dont look good

So nobody tried the new DJ move at E3? I was hoping there would be videos showing it :frowning:

What new DeeJay move?

Guile is great, although I wish they had used an electric guitar sound more reminiscent of Rush of the Wind or the one off the PC ST soundtrack.

Balrog’s stage on PC ST is much better than the one they’re currently using :-\

Just purchased the demo and so far it’s great. Although no one seems to use their mic. And only one level? Kind of stingy. Netcode and graphics are great.

QFT

keep SF clean and with a classic look.

Yeah! And while we’re at it, get rid of these HD Sprites!

I really dislike Guile’s theme. Maybe it’s just that I’m tired of hearing the same SF2 themes remixed over and over again in every Street Fighter game since SF2, but I really dislike it. I’d much rather just have the original.

Meanwhile Balrog’s stage sounds awesome.

I personally think that Sirlin should totally redo T.Hawk. I mean like, he should take all of his design and balance skills that he claims to know about and remake the entire character. I think it’s ok to just admit now that Capcom totally fucked up and that T.Hawk was a horrible design that was never fun to play or play against. In ST, first it’s really hard to do his moves, and on top of that, he has this gameplay where he either barely gets to touch the opponent or he performs an infinite combo on them. Neither is really fun for the players fighting, IMO.

Sirlin then changed him to make him get around fireballs more easily and made his specials easier to do, but then realized that that infinite that made the design crappy was still rearing its ugly head. NOW we have a version of Hawk who has almost no knew ways to get around fireballs AND has no infinite and a whiff animation. He’s basically being taken out of competitive ST altogether rather than being made a tourney-viable character like he’s supposed to be. Something drastic needs to be done or this guy will just be a worse version of Gief.

Maybe I misinterpreted something, but I remember hearing about a new DJ move.

I am not sure those are the final songs, to be hoenst. Aren’t those just songs SFDevotion.com chose to use as audio for the vids? You can’t hear the action from the game at all, so it’s very obvious that the music is just BGM for the vids put in by the video editor. Who knows if those are the final songs or not?

Not counting the fake fireball there’s no new moves in this game…?

They do look weird, but on the plus side, at least they make the colors of the projectiles ā€œpop.ā€ The biggest problem (and maybe it’s been fixed) is that in a lot of videos, the cloud effects don’t sync up with the fireballs.

Yeah, I’m sure that’s EXACTLY what they’re saying.

mechanica: don’t know if you’re asking a question or making a statement but there are more new moves. Dic has a fake slide and it’s looking like claw has a walldive feint.

I don’t really consider moves that don’t do anything as moves. I mean I know they’re something new, but meh. It’s a fakeout! >_>

^ in response ^

In a game based in strategy, where victory in a battle between skilled parties is achieved by one out-thinking the other, being able to convince your opponent that you are doing X, when you’re actually doing Y, is a very powerful tool.

… if that was flame-bait then you just won our little mindgame.

You input commands, your character reacts to said commands: it’s a move. Jump can be considered a ā€œmoveā€.

Unless your definition of a move is something that contains offensive hit boxes.

i stand by this seth killian agsf2 post from 1995, in response to someone saying he’d like to see more fake moves in SF2
