Well, that’s good at least…

wohoo! fix! patchs ftw?
:wgrin:
Here’s the question: Will the fix only apply to network and freezing problems, or will Bro-Ken be fixed as well.
the link doesn’t work for me.
lol you didn’t have to list that i said it. thanks tho
I’m pretty sure the main goal of the patch is to fix the freezing problems, but I’m really hoping that the network code will get updated. I’m really curious to see if any of our feedback and their further work is causing some improvement there.
i hope the patch will implement speed 2 into the beta as default. I hope sirlins character changes aren’t unbalanced on USA2 like he hinted they might be.
Finally tracked down a video showing Akuma. Very interesting to say the least, when doing airfireball Akuma will rebound off it which increases his air time slightly. Pretty cool. Dragon punch doesn’t look overpowered like some have suggested. In the THawk match Akuma does an air hurricane juggling into a dragon punch damage seemed very small. Should be noted that his Hard Dragon only did a single hit and not multiple, but does do multiple hits when done normally.

T.Hawk’s throw whiff looks ghetto as fuck! At least Zangief got more than one frame of animation…
Yeah, I figured it would look pretty bad, as it has to be recognizable as a whiff and not an attack, and has to be done with existing frames.
I was watching the Ken vs Ryu video

About :47 seconds in, Ken does a Fierce DP and it has black smoke trails. That’s new, isn’t it?
Also, maybe I’m crazy but it looks like Ken/Ryu animations are tweaked again.
Looks like he is going into a sprint, but its a reused frame used from his fierce throw.
That whiff does look really weird.
Since the whiff is a new thing, i didn’t expect the artwork to be linked to another frame from a different move. Why not a new sprite, even if its got no animation?
It looks stupid.
nigga doing a rain dance.
Because you’re confusing “animation” with “artwork”.
The game can’t have any new artwork - probably because of the hassle of dealing with the sprite tables and general extra work.
On the flipside, it’s trivially simple to utilize existing assets to create new moves. Like I said before though, to make a whiff Sirlin had to:
A) Make something that was obviously a whiff so it can be recognized and punished
B) Not be confused with a normal attack
Given those restrictions, I’d guess this was one of the better options.
Fortunately Hawk has always been able to tick with cr. Short. He can tick with any of his close standing normals, besides st. Roundhouse and st. Fierce - which he can’t tick with from close or far. Same goes with all his crouching normals, besides cr. Roundhouse and cr. Fierce.
The only gripe I have is with the people playing with R.Hawk, I haven’t seen his SUPER yet. I am anxious to see his splash animation and also looking forward to see his Roundhouse Throw (Elbow Bash). Elbow Bash -> Cross-up splash is too good with O.Hawk.
I’m hoping R.Hawk got to keep Old Hawk’s cr. jab and cr. Roundhouse.
Never noticed that, looks dope.
For the whiff frame maybe they could of used the frame where THawk slams the opponents face into the ground, or swing his arm without leaving the ground atleast that kinda makes more sense and would look like an attempted grab.
Comments on the remixed tracks.
The Guile one is good.
The T.Hawk one was a cut version of New Mexican Thunderbird, so that’s full of win.
Don’t know what to think of the use of Sexy Trunks for Balrog. It’s definitely a good Street Fighter remix (one of the only few that I put on my MP3 player), but it’s so odd to hear a tune that I’ve been listening to for years be used as a game track. I love the original Balrog tune (it’s one of the best in the game), so it’s going to be tough to listen to such a drastic rearrangement of that.
