Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

cause were on GGPO

trust me xbox live is gonna be full of turbo players compared to PSN
funny thing is people with turbo also run there mouths and actually think there good. i know a couple of names on HF but am not gonna say lol

Dang, I had thought they had actually found a way to detect turbo controllers in that game. Maybe by… like… inputs being registered at the same exact intervals each time as opposed to buttons just being pressed too fast.

It would be funny if Capcom paid Konami to put in Ocelot warning you about turbo controllers right before the match starts.

“And don’t even THINK about using auto-fire or I’ll KNOW. :nunchuck:”

-As far as execution, while I think it’s nice to have the tactics in the game more readily accessible to the masses (and this game is ALREADY doing that), I still think it should require an appropriate amount of skill and effort to pull off. It’s part of what makes a fighting game interesting and stand out from other genres IMO. This is not just a stand-alone strategy game.

Remember those moments when your opponent fucked up and all you needed to do was land move/combination X to finish him off and take the match? A third of the time you would miss/fuck up the opportunity and end up being beaten. Another third of the time you pulled that shit off and it feels SO rewarding. The other third, you fucked up, but then HE fucks up and OH SNAP now you’re both on edge, shit is down to the wire, eveybody around you starts getting hype and the pressure is on! This is a big part of what excites me about fighting games. Without the human/execution factor where does that go?

If all I had to do was simply outthink my opponents and/or execute top-tier strategy at the press of a single button every time… then I feel I’ve just lost a big chunk of what made the game fun for me. Also, If I know someone is getting away with doing something like that to me (ESPECIALLY in a situation where there’s something on the line… like money or ranking/tournament placement) then that shit is equally as stupid. 'Might as well give them armor to equip with stat boosts as well. Practice be damned.

same i dont see no one on BETA but no one cares anymore with only ryu and ken. blehhh.

any of you generous fellow sf fans put them on youtube so for us people living outside the states can see these videos.

Veoh got blocked in my country last month due to veoh wanting to focus more on the us market :s

plz guys i would really appreciate the effort.

no good quality vids from that Gamespot tourney yet?

I’ll upload them should be in my profile in abit Im off out for a bit, so keep refreshing hopefully wont take too long for the videos to appear.

THank you soooo very much

When is this shit coming out?

You mean palm down on the right hand right? That’s how I play! As a honda player, it’s muuch better for mashing. Also I set it up so All three punches are on the face with x, y, and b being jab, strong and fierce. Bumbers and triggers for roundhouse and short.

Yeah, I thought about that too, but then I remembered how easy it is to stop once you actually remember she has it. I can do it pretty consistently and even against scrubby players they eventually realized its not that hard to stop if you just pay attention. I think people will be way more angry at the new thawk 360s personally. When I say people, I mean scrubs of course. They have a history of hating command grabs, and with an easier command its gonna be pretty mean vs them. SO CHEAP YO, STOP THROWING ME. LET ME THROW YOU BACK. At least with cammy theres a time period where you can notice and react to it. That is a lot easier than stopping a tickvs thawk. I can already do neutral jab into 360 with hawk almost anywhere on the screen and its WAY worse to deal with because of the range.

I feel the same way. Human error/execution is a large part of playing fighting games imo. I’m extremely against macros, inluding 3P/3K, becuase people do mess up and a lot of times you’re banking on the person not being able to do such and such move at a certain time. I’ve always thought that certain moves were harder to execute because of their effectiveness and once sirlin anounced that the chicken wing motion was changed, i absolutely knew he’d tone down the move.

I’m not against making things easier, such as 2 buttons for lariat or even changing the tiger knee motions. I do think there is a limit though. 1 button for moves is just too much imo.

No way. As far as I know, there are only two autofire devices for XBL (The blue Hori controller and the XFPS converter). The controller is out of print and the XFPS’s are still in the $100 range. Compared to the PS3 which has $10 converters readily available to use the shit-ton of cheating peripherals that PS1 and PS2 already had.

I’m pretty sure he means tons of turbo players due to them already being on HF. Also there is cheap turbo pads for both systems.

Seemed obvious to me, but what do I know.

I wonder if it’s possible for developers to only allow specific controllers? I suspect it may be by the way Guitar Hero disallows Rock Band guitars. This could be an easy solution to the rapid fire problem. New controllers which are released after the game is released could be allowed via a small patch.

I always find people to play the HD Remix beta online EVERY NIGHT. then again, I added
the good ones to friends list. so it’s easier to track the most committed players
who don’t quit early.

also just cause there is no one on the search list doesn’t mean no one is playing,
of course it won’t list the full rooms.

Disallowing all controllers except “officially approved” ones sounds like an incredibly bad idea, especially considering the very wide variety of controllers there is for fighting games.

I could count the number of controllers that I know of which you’d want to use for Street Fighter on the 360 on one hand. I’d prefer it this way than have to lose to people who are cheating with controllers that store moves or use rapid fire.

yeah but not everyone is gonna like the idea of having to buy a new controller just to play
a game. **it’s kinda like how it sucks that many people are forced to buy a gamecube controller to play Brawl because the wiimote sucks.

now imagine if the GC controller wasn’t allowed in the first place except the wiimote, or vice versa, that would really kill sales and community. **

I meant that I’d be fine with a person programming a macro into his keyboard keys, so like if you press p your computer inputs back, down, back-toward + kick. This would be a bit slower than just having p = flame kick, and while it would still be faster than a human, it would probably only be like a frame faster, and things like flame kick on reaction would only be marginally more possible. Most of the same things that apply now would also apply to most people in most situations, like not being sure if you should flame kick or block and so end up blocking instead. Obviously it’s a little easier, though, and I don’t want it to be allowed in tournaments or in person or anything, at least not in the context of an established game like this one. I’m just saying that I don’t think macros and turbo pads are a big enough problem for the developers to spend time figuring out ways to beat them.

I’d love to see a fighting game that somehow made everything one button or even just required a thought, though.

Looks forward to having more than 2 hands or thought-driven game systems
