Official SSF2T: HD Remix General Discussion Thread

Did Graham use Vega the whole time, or Rog as well? If Vega, I wonder why he didn’t use Rog, is he that nerfed in HD?

His Rog was fuckin sweet! He said Vega counters guile, also said tourney jitters got to him and he did a lot of things he didn’t (and usually wouldnt) want to.

thanks for that writeup, that explains pretty clearly how the $2500 in prize money was distributed. sounded like a pretty epic tourney overall with lots of press coverage, which is a great thing.

oh. and about the single elim thing i agree with you, it does take skill to make it to the end of a 64 man tourney, single elim or not. I knwo that from my personal exp playingin japan here where all tourenys are basically single elim (and you have to stick with the same char all the way through :arazz:)

looking forward to seeing the vids, and yes, guile vs vega/blanka in OG ST were always tough matches for guile from what i understand.

I got one of those Chun Li figures from work. I opened it though, lol.

I loved that write up.

There was John Choi and Graham Wolf!

And they lost to some dude named paul. He doesn’t have a last name, he’s just paul

Of course it takes skill. But c’mon, what % was actual decent competition? I’d say maybe 2%. Yes, I’m a hater. :arazz:

I want to know more about this Jeff and Paul! Even on a brand new title, even in single elimination, even if 90% of the people there were scrubby, those wins definitely meant something.

Classically top players like Choi and Graham are coming in with so many and such strong transferable skills, and the ability to figure out shit really quickly; even on a game they’ve never touched before they would be very fierce opponents… especially against anyone else who has never touched it before either. I don’t think Jeff or Paul’s victories were any small feat.

So were the hitboxes on some normal moves changed?? Or does gief still have to put up with 1 button matches vs some characters (cammy s.forward)

bump.

Some no name beat choi and wolfe at their own game? guess he’s not a no name anymore.

shirts vs paul @ evo 2k9? BET IT!

orochi: if you do the reverse on regular st and you hit the opponent(especially on ground), you can clearly see that there is room for j.strong x 2. its exactly the same in HD, except you obviously can juggle.

you do both strongs in one jump. and 1 jump is plenty of time to build a charge

for the love of god … release this game already… LOL

Muteki and Ino disguised as Jeff and Paul. Come on!

Arstal does not speak for us. N.C is for H.D .

Jeff goes by Renzo and I think Rushdown187 on here? Anyway, he was a top placer in VF5 at EVO2K7 and is generally pretty good at fighting games. He pretty much plays or at least dabbles in all the fighting games that are out there and picks them up pretty quickly.

He played really solid, but he was using Rufus and I dont think most people around here know how to deal with Rufus. Not to descredit his victory but with it being just 1 match, single elimination it didnt give John enough time to adapt.

Learn reading comprehension. I never said I was against the game. I meant in the commercial sense, in response to a couple people saying Capcom wants this game to fail, which would be a stupid move on Capcom’s part.

Besides, NC isn’t big into ST, though I hope to change that when this comes out. Doubt you’ll keep at it- you’ll insist on playing classic mode the first brick wall you run across.

He’s pretty much the reason i picked up Brad in vf5 instead of staying with Lau. Saw some matches of his a while back and was impressed.

That’s pretty sweet. So the loss of repeated wall dives seems to be counterbalanced with the equivalent of a free extra wall dive for any decent claw player.

c.MP requires a 4 frame startup so if the advantage is 5-6 frames at its meatiest, you could theoretically pull off a c.MK->c.MP if you have sweet timing. And if you’re really good, it seems you can cancel a low weak attack into his flip kick x2.

I think it works fine against most characters (Ken and Blanka certainly excepted), however good the other player is, as Tokido and Noguchi have shown. However, the vast majority of claw players seem to have this tendency to wall dive at the most inopportune moments or have poor timing/knowledge on controlling the dive.

My question to anybody who played claw is: does the fake wall dive clear Ken’s dp from full screen? If so, how far in does Ken need to be to nail a fake wall dive? Also, if you fake wall dive on your opponent’s side of the wall, can you recover in time to punish a whiffed dp? Now, it’s likely that nobody ever encountered these situations in one night of play but I just felt like throwing those up there for future reference.

for vega, i doubt you can do c.forward after a wall dive, the bounce back is pretty far when you land. and since the opponent doesnt knock down anymore, they also get pushed back, creating more distance. the very little i used claw, i was barely in range for c.strong.

as for fake wall dive, he can cancel at ANYTIME. he can drop straight down as soon as he touches the wall. it looks like he will just touch the wall and go straight down. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to visualize how close you gotta be to hit him out of it if he fakes that early

Can the fake only come as or after he hits the wall? Or can he drop straight down while he’s still traveling toward the wall?
