Yeah Salamence had enough checks, but I do think that Specsmence was one of the most retarded movesets ever to grace the game. Required no real strategy thanks to Draco Meteor having 1 resist and very few Pokemon in OU or UU could take a pummeling from one Draco Meteor.
Mixmence was the main reason Mence was banned. I still don’t like the ban, even though I do realize Mence was ridiculous in OU.
SRK rules… interesting. The only rules I really care about seeing are:
-the one version of a hold item per team;
-no more than one species of pokemon per team (is species the right term?);
-(i guess no hacked pkmn is out of the question);
-banning wobba v wobba (is that still an issue? not sure);
-and probably banning certain event pokemon (although if hacking is allowed, then the harm this rule seeks to avoid is negligible/negated).
-Really, I’m fine with the official nintendo rules, or at least those rules they had back in emerald days.
I don’t mind ubers. I ran teams back in the day when mewtwo was legal, and everyone had a different mewtwo killer, which would also take care of most of the other threats. If everyone is going to run ubers, then that’s fine, imo. With hacking allowed in competitive play these days, I don’t see why anyone would exclude Ubers, except because they really like crobat or scizor, and can’t imagine playing pokemon without them. :/. If there is no breeding/EV/IV training involved, then I don’t see why competitors just can’t look at the game as competing packets of stats, and go crazy on each other.
Maybe having a cap to one set of pokemon (ie only pokemon below 560 for this set of battles/then uber tier) would be fine. shrug.
Wobba vs Wobba can’t happen anymore, if two pokes who got Shadow Tag are out they can both switch now.
I don’t mind Ubers unless you don’t want to see them in a match, really. I think there has to be a line somewhere, otherwise we get the 6 non-ubers vs team full of Ubers situation.
Same here. Garchomp was pretty dumb, but you could get around it if you played smart and if your prediction skills were on point. I don’t think he was a ban worthy pokemon.
Anyway, anyone here with white version has a Rufflet/Braviary to trade me? I don’t care about the nature, I just want him to be male and named ‘‘Ken’’ and I’m good.
I think the single old item thing is kinda eh, many Pokemon rely on Lefties as recovery move, and putting something like Expert Belt on my secondary wall simply because of item clause is kinda lame.
if they ban drizzle then they should ban drought as well, sandstorm too. Rain was not that fucking good to warrant a ban. It has a bunch of reliable walls to it like nattorei, vaporeon, that water/ghost, thunder genie, mischeavous heart. Smogon is full of shit
Just ban the auto weather buttfaces. No one uses Pine Tree Yeti anyway. He sucks ass. The you get the best of both worlds, fun lol weather teams, no no frame weather brokenness.
The one item clause is stupid too.
Just do no evasion moves, sleep clause, and species clause. Don’t be a gay and use the super broken Ubers. The Cutesauce/Bird/Dog non broken ones are cool. OHKO should be okay because those moves are ass tier accuracy wise.

This Mismagius online tricked a flame orb onto my Conkeldurr. I hit him with Payback and fainted him. He sends out Mamoswine and uses icicle spear and I hang on with 3 HP. My guts boosted STAB Hammer Arm decides the game at 3-1.
That was pretty good for my first battle.
I really don’t think it was really elitism that got Salamence banned actually. It was the new players that got easily reached the relatively low minimum score for voting. As far as I could remember, most of the senior members voted against banning.
But as it stands, Smogon’s ban on rain seems pretty whack right now.
On a side note. Has anyone thought that Jellicent looks like the Pringles can mascot?

OHKO moves suck period even with low accuracy because it’s purely luck based, BUT now we have moves like Hone Claws that can increase accuracy, so OHKO clause still necessary.
Yeah… he shouldn’t have done that.

OHKO moves ignore all accuracy and evasion modifiers, so Hone Claws wouldn’t do anything.

I did not know about the that about the accuracy modifiers, I only knew about evasion modifiers. Damn Pokemon with its complications that can only be proven through testing.

Looks like bad news on the Global Link front. The US/EU launch was supposed to be next week, but it’s been pushed back an unspecified date due to the servers being in Japan and them kinda needing the energy to live.
