that’s the problem, they weren’t. I dunno why they felt that 6v6 needed some glamours change, it’s more like battling under nintendo event rules, which is bullshit.

Larvesta (sp?) is worth raising, although there is a lvl 70 volcanareafhda (sorry the larvesta evolution) available. it is also intractable, so one can soft reset for a shiny/good stats etc.

Exactly. You paid for the system and games to play pokemon on. Don’t let some elitist website tell you how to play what you pay for. I mean I don’t mind rules, but within reason you know. Sleep clause is fine, but I would think having one legendary would be ok in a 6v6 single and such. Smogon isn’t the end all/be all to pokemon battles/rules for them.

Yup. After you get the nat’l dex, head to the relic cave. Try to descend to the bottom floor where all of the sand from the sand pits seems to be collecting. There should be a door there that wasn’t there in the initial run. Head in there, and you will eventually come to a room with an interactive pokemon sprite. I thought it was a legendary, but was a volcarona (which I already evolved from the egg that was given out). It is level 70.
I was running Rain Dance teams in the beginning of HG/SS. Why would people hate on it enough to get banned :sad:
This game is crack.
The problem is Dream World Politoed and Ninetales, which have Drizzle and Drought as abilities, respectively. At least with Rain Dance and Sunny Day you have to give up a turn and moveslot for them, in addition to the 5-8(if you’re holding the respective Items that extend the length) turn limits on them. But, to get FREE INFINITE WEATHER just for switching in is really lame, and always has been ever since they gave T-Tar Sandstream. Plus, in addition to all the pokes who benefit from Rain(not just water-types, mind you), I can see where people would have a problem with Rain, or I should say, Drizzle teams(since that’s what’s really the problem).
But, of course, no one ever says anything about Sandstream teams, because everyone loves stalling and any extra damage I can add without actually having to attack is cool, and no one really cares for Drought teams anyway.

I would like that actually. Smogon is full of elitist douchebags who care more about maintaining their status quo rather than logically analyzing the metagame issues. Votes for bans usually go by the way of nuthuggers who just follow a few “1337” members who are unsurprisingly, mods or senior members.
That said, they have set up some useful parameters to build upon. Evasion/Sleep/etc… clauses have obvious functions but other things like Dream World tiers or banning Blaziken while Cloyster runs wild need not be adopted IMO.
Since I’m getting this game sometime this week or this weekend…
What rules are people following here? Also why is there an evasion clause? Are there new abilities that up or decrease evasion by more than 1? Because that sounds pretty easy to deal with…

I was done with Smogon when they decided to ban Garchomp and Mence.
And no, I was not a Garchomp user.
Look up Shell Smash and add that to Skill Link. Evasion clause means that moves that reduce the Evasion of the Pokemon you’re using are banned, because the counters required are too centralizing and unreliable in any other aspect. (Good luck killing a Suicune with Surf/Calm Mind/Double Team/Rest with Shockwave, for example)
Honestly, Sand Veil Garchomp was retarded, and completely centralizing. It had no natural counter and insanely hard to kill due to bulky defenses and an auto-Double Team.
Yeah It was pretty dumb, I didn’t really have a problem with it though other than EVERYONE and their momma had one in their team.
Salamence ban is stupid though.
You can have 6v6 singles using the “no restrictions” ruleset, just not with random matchmaking (4th generation did not have random matchmaking anyway)
The only thing they really took away was auto-level up to 50 or 100 option, so if you want to have 6v6 at level 50 or level 100, all of your pokemon need to be that actual level
Garchomp is screwed pokemon. While posing too many advantages for the OU metagame he seen very little success in the land of uber. SS is not common enough there for him to use his sand veil, though Tyranitar could be the only closes paring for uber play in order to activate it. Simply put, Garchomp is fighting for slots. Even moreso than Salamence, because he cannot DD. Garchomp’s only purpose in the uber metagame is stuck to the job as a revenge killer, more notably with a Choice item.
People have a tough time seeing why they should pick Garchomp over something like Mewtwo or Deoxys-A.
