POKEMON BLACK/WHITE 2 LEAKED!!!:

continuing where we left off:

Salamence became uber late HGSS metagame, or somewhat late DDP. He was promoted through sheer comparisons of being the “Rayquaza” of OU, once setup nothing could stop his wrath. Though that seemed to be the case with many OU pokemon, Salamence’s sheer power and speed was so good it couldn’t be stopped as easily. Outrages still shredded those steel types, DDx2 meant sweep unless revenge killed. Even with CS, Salamence still out sped some pokemon x2 DD. S/R was always something that bothered Salamence, but that didn’t stop people from using him. As a late game sweeper, teams were just at the mercy of this thing.

trying to set up my game to get my friend code. i keep getting a message saying The server is undergoing maintenance. am i messing something up or is the server down?

Fun times with catching Pokemon.

Bastard Ducklett turn 1 Aqua Ring as I go to set up my false swiper. In a fit of annoyance, I sent in my Lilligant and Leech Seeded the fucker.

Now, what’s amusing here, as I learned, is that Aqua Ring’s heal goes before Leech Seed’s drain. Tagged back in my false swiper, and proceeded to give that damn Ducklett misery by beating it within an inch of its life and watching it get healed just enough to live a little longer and take more pain, but never quite get the sweet release of death. After several turns of this, a timer ball caught my Ducklett, who is happily named Deadpool.

You know what I hate?

Munnas with bad synch natures. I’ve only gotten a few useful ones, those being Jolly, Naughty, and Modest, but none of those are what I am looking for, which is Timid.

EDIT: The first Munna I caught after I made this post was Timid/Synch.

ohhh, that makes sense. Sounds pretty nuts. I can’t wait to see what the metagame is like for B&W.

This metagame is gonna be nuts for years. I also think Dream World abilities should kept in a separate tier. Certain skills are just far too game breaking (there’s a reason Inconsistent got banned). That said, however, I really would like to see EVERYTHING get tested for the sake of completeness and fairness. Yes, I’m talking OHKO moves, Evasion, etc…
It seems whatever you come up with has inherent counters that you will eventually run into.

It’s both the blessing and curse of there being so many Pokemon now… You can’t possibly prepare for everything now. You have to be able to adapt on the fly and be flexible under pressure in order to win your battles. It’s really got me itching to go into the lab and come up with all sorts of crazy strategies and teams. The game just feels so wide open, now.

Please mature Pokemon alreadyyyyy.

I don’t think Dream World abilities should be separated into another tier. Some lesser Pokemon got boosted to decent levels just because they were given a viable ability in this new metagame.

I do believe some abilities are broken and should be banned though, Inconsistent is the major one.

My only issue is that no one should be using unreleased DW abilities until they are available in the US. It is grossly unfair for people to have teams to prepare for something they don’t have legal access to, or Pokemon that might need a DW Pokemon as a direct counter.

stop peddling this crap already, sand attack was never banned

also that d/p tier list linked is so horribly out of date and irrelevant, no need to carry it over into a brand new thread

wait, is there a b/w tier list up already?

copy/paste adjustments will be fixed, I just felt the majority of the rules should be out in the open. I didn’t check that link  but I’ll patch things up

no it’s still too early, testing have been underway over at smogon though.

Hello, new thread!

Just for reference, the current banlist as of a month ago is:
You may not use a Pokémon carrying the following attributes:

Moves
All moves that increase Evasion only (e.g. Minimize)
All instant OHKO moves (e.g. Horn Drill)

Abilities
Inconsistent

Species
Arceus
Darkrai
Deoxys-A
Deoxys
Dialga
Giratina
Giratina-O
Groudon
Ho-Oh
Kyogre
Lugia
Manaphy
Mewtwo
Palkia
Rayquaza
Reshiram
Shaymin-S
Zekrom

You may also not use a Pokémon team carrying both Swift Swim and Drizzle.
The top players from the previous testing round have also been nominating more stuff for the banlist. Popular Uber nominations right now include Blaziken, Deoxys-S, Latios, Excadrill, Reuniclus, and Thundurus. Some people also want any item or ability that boosts evasion to be banned under the evasion clause (Sand Veil, Snow Cloak, Brightpowder, Lax Incense, etc.). Others also feel that weather in general is too powerful, especially with the Drizzle and Drought abilities, which offer more benefits than Sandstream and Snow Warning, and that the game has become too “weather-centric”. Basically, they feel that the Drizzle/Swift Swim combo ban doesn’t go far enough in preventing rain users from running rampant.

Regardless of what gets the banhammer, the new metagame’s gonna be interesting, that’s for sure.

There is a guy on Route 13 who gives out free stuff everyday. He has a suit and sunglasses on. Here is what he gives out.

  • Flutes: Blue Flute, Yellow Flute, Red Flute, Black Flute, White Flute
    • Evolution Items: King’s Rock, Metal Coat, DeepSeatooth, DeepSeaScale, Protector, Electrizer, Magmarizer, Dubious Disc, Reaper Cloth, Razor Claw, Razor Fang, Dragon Scale
    • Pokemon Specific Items: Lucky Punch, Metal Powder, Thick Club, Stick
    • Miscellaneous: Big Pearl, Shoal Salt, Shoal Shell, Heart Scale, Lucky Egg

The best part is that you can soft reset for the item you want. I’m going to do it everyday until I have 6 lucky eggs.

People want Blaziken and Reuniclus in ubers? WHAT?

up to date ban list I was looking for it! Thx, I’ll get in the first post, chopas old list needs to be upgraded

and yeah I talked about it a while back, they’re gonna ban the weather! It’s too powerful loooool.

Thanks for creating the new thread Travis. I sure as hell wasn’t doing it. #lazy

btw, I figured out a way to play online. See my Friend code in my signature.

If that happens, I think I might be done with Smogon. :expressionless:

I’m not so sure about how I feel about Smogon’s direction this generation either. They seem to be getting a bit over-zealous and obsessive with trying to use increasingly complex rules and bans to try and stabilize the metagame.

Black/White really shook a lot of stuff up, but I’m not sure that trying to cling to 4th gen expectations is the right answer. I understand some stuff is really, really, powerful… but when you have to ban entire abilities, and combinations of abilities, you’re getting further and further from the real game and it kinda makes me feel like I don’t even wanna deal with it

I’m disappointed that Nintendo’s built-in “Flat Battle” rules only allow for 3v3 on Singles because i think 6v6 allows so much more potential, but I’m sorta feeling like I’d rather play the game closer to pure form with Nintendo’s rules and find out whether it’s playable or not for myself. Then if the game ends up sucking without 100 rules to guide it, then maybe it’s just time for people to stop respecting Pokemon as a competitive series

Late, but lol:

Durant (Pokémon) - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia

Does anyone know if the average sleep duration has been shortened or something? I’ve been noticing in my Wi-fi random battles that there’ve been A LOT of sleeps where I sleep them with a faster pokemon, they sleep for the turn I sleep them, and wake up the next. It could be random chance and I’ve been getting unlucky, but just wondering if anything’s been discovered about changes to sleep
