I use Pokegen. Simpler interface imo, and my Pokemon pass Nintendo’s legality checks online.

In other news - Unnerve Tyranitar was released recently. Now one of the best C. Band/Scarf wielders in the game, is no longer limited to sand teams

The first thing I checked was of course the ubers. And, they sold out and put Deoxys-S back to uber? When did this happen!!? And, I see that Excadrill and Thundurus are still banned sadly

I don’t remember Alakazam being OU at the start of this generation (was pyshock that powerful?)
Eviolite Chansey looks interesting, and she’s OU now
Dugtrio revenge killing is now considered OU
Donphan spinning is back to OU

Hipowdawn got sent to BL, and I think that’s about right. He’s too strong for UU that’s for sure.

Travis, Magic Guard Alakazam wasn’t released at the beginning of this generation (nor 99% of Dream World ability Pokemon). In Alakazam’s case, iirc it was released in October. Free 30% damage increase with no drawbacks c/o Life Orb, plus an attack to deal with high Sp.Def. Pokemon like Blissey/Chansey/Snorlax? Yes please!
- Eviolite Chansey has been OU for most of the metagame with a brief stint in UU. I still prefer Blissey though (I love my Leftovers dammit! :razz:).

People like to act like Toed and Rain are better, but I don’t see it (assuming you play by smogon rules). Losing excadrill hurts sand a bit, but I doubt it’s going anywhere.

I hope that Excadrill and Thundrus stay gone. Deoxys-S dual screening makes some things really dumb.

Alakazam has magic guard now, meaning it’s sash will never be broken by hazards and such. Life orb with no recoil is scary powerful also.

& 4. I don’t play UU, but there’s a new tier called RU (Rarely Used) which is to UU as UU is to OU. There’s even a BL2.

yeah I noticed that they changed around some of the movesets for Deoxys-S, into what is now some sort of supporters role (fastest Stealth Rocker in the game?)
I’m still not changing the moveset on mine though, and I think my espeon can still do the task of dual screener just as well.
I think the argument with Deo-S was it was too unpredictable… kind of like what they said about Mence in Gen 4.
By the time you figure out what set it was running it had already done too much damage… To me… that’s just pokemon, part of the fun of the game is unpredictability.
As for Thundy and Excadrill, they need to remain gone IMO. Thundy was stupid… with rain and NP, you just set up and pretty much kill anything in front of you that isn’t Blissey, or MAYBE sp. defensive Jirachi. Plus prankster t-wave was just dumb. STAB thunder in the rain with LO did ridic damage to begin with, and the ability to effectively cripple any non-ground type sweeper was too stupid.
And Excadrill, you know when people are picking Gliscor with no true recovery move, over Skarmory as a physical wall - something is wrong… Not to mention the fact that it voided choice scarf as an item, almost entirely… and just generally overcentralized things.
As far as weather, Toed type trumps most other weather users besides Abomasnow… who brings an overall shitty weather anyway… And rain in general is probably the weather that supports its team best, while also screws the opposing team moreso than sand or sun.
Sun is still my favorite weather though.

Anyway, Deo-S was one (if not the best) revenge killers in the OU Metagame. Even though he was unpredictable, you knew he was coming even more thanks to Team Previews. In Uber, he can’t use his power bases in favor of something like Deo-A, who is just ridiculous whenever he touches something. From a team supporting aspect, he is welcomed addition however. The entry hazards in Uber were lacking because everything there could TOD you or setup in ways to sweep your team.
Thundy also gets overlooked in its typing. Electric/Flying is GREAT typing for something so powerful, and I could see Thundy doing well in Uber moreseo Excadrill because of the less common SS rates there. Part of the reason we aren’t seeing Roost Gliscor anymore is because he got Poison Heal, which heals more than leftovers could ever do. Skarmory as physical wall needs to be suspect, and the only reason it wasn’t was because of the Sturdy buff and its Steel/Flying typing is unusably good even by today’s standards. But his job soley as a physical wall is getting harder and harder to pull off:
He still cannot boost his defenses
No reasonable/impressive bulk
Fighting moves becoming more powerful
Easily taunted
More special attackers added to the metagame
Now, here is speculation that if Excadrill was still OU then maybe Hippowdon retains his own status in OU. Although he would not like getting hit by a boosted SD EQ, he can still phase, resist S/R, and perhaps even survive SD EQ upon being defensively bulky. Not to mention, KO back with STAB EQ varying no air balloon.
Rain is no doubt the best weather control for many teams, though the sun does present many advantages in certain situations. Ice is gimmicky weather, but not impossible to form a team around.
What’s the bigger troll move by Game Freak for Gen V?

- Deliberd with Insomnia as it’s Dream World ability (It has Vital Spirit as one of its regular abilities).
- Rotom-S (Fan Rotom) with Levitate.
Moves
- Final Gambit Shedinja
- Synchronoise Umbreon
Final Gambit faints the user, and does damage equal to the HP the user had when using the move. Synchronoise is a Psychic type move, and does damage to all adjacent Pokemon with the same type as the user.
Honourable mentions include Flareon still not getting Flare Blitz. :lol:
