Been using my PS3 FightPad since late May. It’s seen heavy use in both the PS3 and PC and I’ve had no problems so far.
Giving up Street Fighter because you bought a crappy MadCatz joypad is like boycotting food because you ate at a Weinerschnitzel. There are alternatives out there… you may just have to build them yourself.
if you build them they will fall
Actually I’d love to just attach a cord onto the fightpads but I’ve never done anything like that before. The concept of the fightpad is awesome, I love the D-pad (when it doesnt stick) but the connectivity issue is a plague. If anyone has any ideas as to how to do this (attach a working cord) please post a link or something. Im willing to try anything. I do love SF and Im old school but Im about to just go back to MUGEN over this issue.
Anyone?
Before I sell my 3 defective fightpads (which apparently madcatz is not capable of repairing successfully) is there anyone who has managed to add a working cord to the ps3 ones? This is all assuming that the 360 pads don’t suffer from the same maddening connectivity problems that the PS3 ones deal with.
Madcatz? Fightpad? Bahh! This is my story…
The Short Life Of My Chun li FightPad
Early after SFIV came out i was able to get one of these things(Xbox 360 ver.) after they sold out at my local Bestbuy. For a split second i almost went to e-bay to pay top $$ but i found one out of sheer luck. I bought it in April 2009. After each use i would carefully place it in its original packaging as i thought it would last a long time. Then in the begining August 2009, it started to act up and disconnect randomly and the turbo would go on or off as well. Funny, it started to act up RIGHT AFTER its measly 90 day warranty. Then one day it just died on me. I searched online immediately and found this site (Thanks SRK!) and found other people had the same problems. Because of this i decided to build my own joystick! Luckily, i was able to send it back to Madcatz (with copy of receipt) and eventually i got a replacement even though the warranty had passed. By this time i was disgusted with the thing and decided it was no longer worth using it. I still have it sealed in my closet of collectibles as a symbol of when my feelings got hurt “sniff” LOL
Seriously though i was pi*sed off.
Moral of this story: Save your receipt if you are buying a madcatz fightpad! Just in case…
grow a dick bro, and buy a fucking stick… jesus christ your 30 dollar controller stopped so you lose intrest in something youve loved for over a decade… fucking dumbasses in here.
FightPad for SFIV PS3 turbo rate is too slow…
I just bought one of the new fightpads, and the turbo is too slow. I know there are 2 settings, I’ve tried both, but for example with Gen you should be able to do Fierce turbo and it will connect with 9 or 10 hits… Blanka is the same, haven’t tried Honda, but probably the same.
Anyone else run into this?
The weird thing is I have one of the fightpads for the PC (blanka model) and it work perfectly, turbo Fierce connects with 10 hits or something.
I read almost this entire 13 page thread and other stuff on the web, and I have a Hori gamepad which has 3 settings and that one works great… someone mentioned that its 2 times/sec, 5/sec, 10/sec… it seems like this PS3 FightPad can’t do 10/second or 15/second???
I emailed madcatz support and am awaiting a response, but like… what can they do? They didn’t include a way to change the turbo settings on this PS3 version… I read in the MadCatz FAQs that the PS2 fightpad you can press the turbo button and then press up or down on the directional pad to increase or decrease the turbo rate… but it makes me wonder did they test this enough?
Are 2nd round Pads and the new Super SF IV pads better then the first versions? My chun-li pad has already some buttons that wont work. My good old sega pad survived more then 6 years , this one is already after 5 months almost dead…
And why are the X360 madcatz pads so big and chunky?
whats the difference? I’m interested
I bought my PS3 Fightpad back when they first came out (Feb '09 I believe) and it still works to this day. I’ve never had any connectivity problems. The casing has developed some cracks though, and I never dropped or thrown it.
Don’t use turbo. IMO they should’ve never put that in the first place.
I have a Ryu 360 pad, and the Y axis of the dpad went out.
However I have a PS3 TE stick and would like to use the PCB of the pad to dual mod the stick.
I’m wondering if its the dpad component that went out or if the PCB is faulty?
Maybe i should just buy a stock 360 pad from gamestop for the dual mod and not take the risk…
not exactly a frequent poster, but I bought a PS3 FightPad last month, and got to use it on SSFIV four days before the batteries died out; after changing the batteries the controller and the USB receiver won’t synch up anymore.
First time I bought it the pad didn’t come with the USB, now this, and the store I got it from didn’t have any in stock, so I traded it in for a game. Now I’m back to the Dual Shock and wasted 40 euros.
I think I should have buckled up and bought a Tournament stick.
That’s exactly how these bastards are making a profit. Sell the shit stock (fightpads) to gamers looking for a cheap alternative, then wait for them to give in and buy tournament sticks after the pad breaks down in a few weeks.
So even after reading all the negative reviews i decided to buy the fightpad. I live outside the US so it costs me about double the price with shipping and taxes. First after opening the package I noticed it did not come with batteries so I used some i had laying around the house . The fightpad kept losing sync every minute or so and blinking red. I was so pissed I wend out at midnight to get some new batteries, needles to say, not only is it still not working but with the new batteries it continuously disconnects.
I will give a negative review on amazon to make myself feel better.
What gamepad do you guys recommend , not fightstick I suck at those.
I have the saturn usb pad, sf anniversary pad (ps2), and the mad catz pad. Between the 3, I hate to say but the madcatz pad is the most precise. Its Unreliable no doubt, im on my 3rd and 4th one. But what can I do.
Ill have to try the te stick out and if its good precision unlike the shit hori ex2, ill invest and learn a stick.
Wired for PS3?
An online retailer in Sweden claims to be selling a wired version of the fightpad for PS3 (Chun Li version). They claim this is not a mistake, but I can’t find any info on a wired version existing for PS3. anybody know anything about this?
i’ve been through 12 now. same shit, only last 2 to 3 months. it sucks there is no 6 button pad alternative for the xbox. i wish i would’ve tooken them all to evo and left them at their booth, but since ppl still think pad players are scrub no one cares. i’ve had to switch exculisvly to ps 3 to make sure i don’t sink in anymore money, sucks though because i like fighters on live. hori came out with a very good -ps 3 only- 6 button pad if you are looking for an alternative called fight commander 3. it’s wired too. hopefully they can do a xbox 1 soon! here’s a quick vid of it:
Is it possible to play with the ps3 fightpad on the pc?
Why the hell were these not made to use the PS3’s built-in bluetooth? I have 3 fightpads, 1 working dongle. Damn.
