Thought I’d give my two cents on these pads.
Got a Bison-Round Two fightpad online, delivered a few days later. The back has a rubberised feel, which makes gripping it somewhat easier than my last pad (an old PS2 pad I’d modded). The switch that changes between d-pad, left-analogue and right-analogue is on the lower back, and is pretty out of the way, so no accidental pushing.
I found that if I had it switched to left-analogue or right-analogue mode, there was a weird lag when crouching low and going forward. So if I crouched facing right at (1) and went forward (6), there’d be a half second pause, where the input would be read as (3), making you crouch forward.
I just tested this again though, and it seems to not be happening anymore. Still, was weird.
The d-pad itself is pretty good I think. I first tested it on MvC3, and a lot of moves were tricky coming out (Wesker teleports for example). However, I think it’s just a matter of applying the right pressure when doing (623) motions. After a few days, I rarely had trouble pulling off moves (and this is coming from someone who used that PS2 pad for literally years, so most likely a matter of adjusting to the new pad).
SSF4 is fine from what I’ve played. I might say I play better now maybe. I have had zero problems with inputs and manage 1-frame links fine (in that, only my timing is to blame for when I can’t pull them off).
The pads also work fine on PC, assuming you have the XBOX360 driver.
Never touched the turbo function, so can’t comment on it.
There’s a weird problem when writing messages with it though, in that you can’t navigate the character pages (from alphabet to symbols) using LT and RT (or LB RB whichever). It clearly reads my inputs, as the buttons on screen light up when using them to navigate, but I can only go to a different page if I move the cursor to the little button on screen that changes menu’s and pressing a on it (hope that makes sense).
Had it for two weeks, so can’t comment on whether or not they slowly degrade after a few months. I hope not, as I rather like it.
