Official Mad Catz FightPad Feedback Thread

got mine a few weeks ago on 360

just getting use to it really no problems so far i like it will hold me over till my stick gets here

I’ve had the same problems as described by most people here (360 version), borked diagonals on the dpad.

I followed the steps described by the The 4th letter and actually fixed it. Just opened it up and put a little bit of folded doublesided tape (any tape will probably do) and put it on the up direction of the dpad. I also put a smaller piece on the down direction. All directions work flawlessly now and I’m happy that yet again I have a decent dpad :lovin:

Update:

From the date I posted my faulty fightpad back to madcatz, I recieved it back fully repaired 8 days later. I expected a much longer wait, so in that respect I am very pleased.

The d-pad has since been working fine, and I just hope it lasts. They simply repaired it and sent it me back, leaving in a fresh set of batteries.

I have also ordered a 360 fightpad from the second batch that has recently just come into stock, I will test that out at my local gamerbase because they only have xbox 360s there, and I will see how it compares to my ps3 fightpad. I have however decided that sf4 is supposed to be played with a fightstick therefore I am going to get a custom built stick made, and sell both pads off soon I think.

i will never purchase anything from madcatz again.

i own 2 ps3 fightpads. i also have 3 usb receivers. one ONE of the receivers work.

i bought two fight pads, one of the usb receivers didn’t work out of the box, so i returned it to gamestop and got a new one. at this point, finally, both usb receivers worked. about two weeks later, one of them stopped working, i had to call and ask for a new one (which they sent). and then, just the other day, another one stopped working.

as I have now encountered THREE usb receivers that either didn’t work, or stopped working… i think it’s safe to assume it’s not an isolated incident.

there QA must be complete crap.

anyone else have their usb receivers die on them?

I’ve been using my PS3 fightpad for almost 2 months now, since its been repaired its been absolutely fine.

Now then, just purchased a 360 fightpad, I think this is the second batch because it was direct from gameshark just last week when they came back into stock. Tested it out and the difference between my ps3 fightpad and the 360 one is huge. The d-pad on the 360 fightpad is very different. It does not register diagonals at all!?!

I have used it and got afew mates to try it, and non of them can play with it.

Eg. When pressing back (walking back), you cannot jump back by moving ur thumb to the back/up position you have to press UP. My ps3 pad is identical in terms of looks, slightly heavier due to the batteries, but the d-pad is completely different. Is this the new and improved second batch (garbage) that madcatz has decided to release? Has anyone played on both? Can anyone shed some light on how both pads can be so very different?

i’ve had 2 of these over the past few months and am looking for a little feedback. has anyone ever noticed that the rubber grip around the back starts to crumble away after some extended use? on both of mine this would happen after maybe a week or two. on my second one, i also had the guide button stop working. any advice or solutions? otherwise, it totally destroys a 360 pad. thanks everyone.

anyone?

Yes i have One Fight pad and now 2 receivers (dongles) with are broken and just died during gameplay. This is really frustrating. Now I must email mad catz once again and explaine the situation and hopefylly to get a new dongle or a fixed one.

Originally the d-pad broke on my ps3 fightpad, sent it back to madcatz they repaired it and all was well… until now.

For some reason the red light on the fightpad flashes as does the red light on the usb receiver and it just stops working. It’s happened quite afew times now, I thought it was the batteries at first so changed them but that didn’t help. It happens more and more now, ****ing great!:annoy:

Do madcatz expect me to pay for packaging and posting again? How were these pads ever allowed to be released? This is the second fault within 3 months of ‘light’ use on a brand new product. I already paid too much for this damn thing on ebay, what can I do now, where do I stand? I am not happy about emailing them, paying to post it back to them, have them fix it and send it back to me, only for it to break again somewhere down the line. So what do I do?

I have the Blanka PS3 gamepad, from the day I opened it (mid May) it had the flashing light issue. I had to put a full and half dead batt in for it to stay synced. occassionally during game play it would go offline for about 1-2 secs then sync again now tonight it stays blinking with brand new & half life batteries. I was looking for a fix but I realise I will have to send it back to madcats or purchase a new one

only thing is I havent seen many posts with this problem hopefully i got a dud

I’m using my PS3 FightPad for three weeks now and it’s working just fine. I feel that this pad is really working great for my Ryu and Ken ( the SRK cancel into ULTRA works great for both sides ) But for Balrog I have to be really careful with charging ( for exapmle Headbutt on the beginning of the round is a problem ). But I’m sure I can used to it. It’s still far better than Dualshock 2. But on Dualshock 2 I had not these problems but SRK’s are much faster on Madcatz … What’s your experience now after the release and a while of using ( PS3 version ) ?

Sorted again. I emailed Madcatz and they simply posted out to me a new receiver, tested it and it works. Don’t think it will last long though.

Received a second USB receiver today, strange but I’m not complaining lol. Suppose it’s because I had 2 email addresses for madcatz so emailed on both and got a reply from both and 2 guys from their side each sent me out a replacement receiver, a spare one will do nicely though.

After three weeks of using it I quitted yesterday. The reaseon is that for charge character is this pad really terrible. Also I noticed that each I say 150th battle there was a lag and I had to turn off the pad and than turn on again ( that can cost you a match in tournamnet ). The pad looks very nice but compared to PS2 Dualshock is not as reliable. I had chosen reliability instead of good visage. Still the PS3 version of the pad is far better and almost without mistakes than the X360 version which had a lot more problems with d-pad and diagonals… We have in Czech Republic a big tournament in two weeks so I can’t take the risk plyaing on both now but after the tournamet I’ll give it a try ( maybe ). Still the D-pad is a lot larger than PS3 and PS2 D-pad …
For Pad players on PS3 my ranking is like this :

1) PS2 Dualshock
2) PS3 Dualshock
3) PS3 Sux-axis
4) Madcatz Fightpad

Well, I got my Fightpad today and after hours of using it, I found it to be really good, but the only problem I have is that it’s really tough for me to pull off triple moves such as Iori’s Deadly Flower or Fei Long’s Rekka Punches. Also took me some time to learn how to jump diagonally, but that’s all good now. Other than that, awesome controller.

I received my ryu fightpad 2 weeks ago and it worked just fine until last night. The right shoulder button doesn’t seem to be “clicking” anymore and seems to have become jammed. I try to main Guile and this is what happens when I start pulling off his ultra flawlessly!

Time to just invest in a stick!

gunna pitch in here:

my first fightpad (360) broke in 20 minutes. (played a couple matches, x button stopped working)

Got a replacement after that, and it was working fine until recently when i noticed inputs were getting wonky. The warranty was expired so i just took the chance and opened it up. It seems the rubber contact for down was completely ripped off, while back and forward were worn and hanging on by just a sliver of rubber (obviously from holding so many df/db charges)

I have noticed that the good feel of the pad (and not being overly clicky) is due to this contact not having too much plastic between the button part and the holder (kind of hard to explain), but because of that its very thin and can break easily. So in desperation i start ripping apart all of my old controllers looking for rubber contacts that are the same size, fortunately the SNES pad is, but the contact is far too short and thus makes the dpad too loose and unresponsive (i fixed this a bit by gluing some plastic onto the top of the contacts).

So now I am without any properly working fightpad, out $50 CAD, with no money to buy a stick and no real alternative since im on 360. Great job madcatz, great fucking job.

i had a sticking button once on my fightpad as well. here is how i fixed it. first hook it up to a pc and bring up the the controller properties, you should notice that the button that wont work is lit up on the properties screen. hold down the problem button for 10 to 20 seconds and release. the light that said it was pressed should turn off when you release. now check it to see if it works.

How good is the madcatz pad for charge chars? And how fast till ur hand starts to hurt. My Hand hurts after 30 mins of using a charge char with the ps2 controller. I hope madcatzs pad is better.

MUCH better than the 360 controller for charge characters. Unless you happen to pick up one of those defective d-pad fightpads lol
