You probably didnt get the infinite start to register. The j.l after the butter gun looks different than normal when you get it right.

The problem with photon shot is that it doesn’t work the same way at certain angles/heights making it dependent on where the shots hit, and it also hits all characters differently. If you want the easiest way possible, you might as well just footdive down then activate flight, giving you the desired height for the starter.

Make sure that you are jumping forward as it makes a difference. In addition, try doing one jump l after the rejump then doing 2 hits of m each. If done correctly, you should be slowly falling down and be very close to the ground. Then, the h footdive into the 2 jabs will connect properly since you are at an angle where doom can be pushed up back with the footdive+jabs, allowing you to continue by air dashing up forward into the rest.

Due to there being so many dooms and whatnot, we’ve managed to really flesh out doom’s infinite stuff, so almost everything in the op is outdated at this point, and you guys have probably noticed that I haven’t updated it. I think I might as well start a new thread at this point with the same formatting since the infinite is really different from the original thing. I’d request a sticky as well.

Somehow I’m now hitting it when I do nj.l but not when I do fj.l :S (the footdive extension won’t connect when I do nj.l)

Anyone got the notations for that new midscreen infinite marlinpie and fchamp have been using at the last couple tournaments? All I can remember from it:

TAC Down: ADDF -L. Plasma - j.L land nj.L…

… j.L jM(1) jM(1) fH ADF jL jM(1) Plasma beam

i didn’t even realize it, but i started doing it without the footdive… It works the exact same.

I seem to be having trouble with the actual infinite part instead of the set up (well for the corner anyway), I can get the j.L after the qcf.L or the j.H and I can even get the j.L after I jump again but my problem is when I try to hit the j.M they always recover. Any help will be much appreciated.

If the jm isn’t connecting, it means that you did not successfully start the infinite. You have to time the jl so you fall on hitstop aka u have to delay the jl after the buttergun

I am trying to do the Down tac infinite in this video, they flip out after I do the jump L, any tips?

Sounds like you´re having the same problem I´am with not being able to connect with the j.M after the j.L. Take the advice given to my in the post above you, it helped me out a lot. Btw Rokmode what exactly do you me by hitstop? I`ve never heard that before.

This gives a good explanation. I don’t know if he mentions hitstop, but it’s easy to tell when that occurs when performing a normal close to the ground. The game will look like it’s glitching out, and the normal will come out, but the animation will not finish.

Oh ok I´ve noticed that the j.L looks like it´s angled downward when done correctly.

Yeah youve got to get the angled j.L that points downwards. Hitting that specific frame of the j.L is the only hard part of the infinite. I find double tapping the falling j.L really improves the consistency of getting the angled version.

Somebody tell me that I’m not crazy…the j.L to start the infinite has different timing midscreen vs corner when using j. plasma beam, right? Right?

I can get it in the corner 90% of the time, but it just doesn’t come out midscreen (except the first one…which I think has the same timing as the corner version).

I have a suspicion that it’s caused by the difference in space between the characters during the plasma beam, but after an hour of frustration I’m not sure if that’s the case or I’m just delusional.

you are basically correct. midscreen starter timings are a bit different

I really hoped that wasn’t the case. Oh well.

For anybody else trying to learn the midscreen infinite, the most reliable cue I’ve found for the starter is to wait until you can see Doom finish the plasma beam animation and go into falling animation, and THEN press :l:. If you try to anticipate it you’ll hit as soon as possible which is too high, if you take too long to react you’ll get a standing jab.

As for the other timings, hellifiknow, I’ve got them internalized by now. I believe that the plasma beam double-hit sound is not a good cue because it might vary depending on spacing, but don’t trust me on that.

Does anyone have a setup for activating the infinite with the beam that doesn’t involve eyeballing the ADDF into beam? Or any tips on how to time it?

I have a problem. I can hit the L before landing easy. My problem is the jump + L. I jump and nothing comes out. Any tips on how to land this?

You have to time it better.
