Yo whats really good with a tournament?
Sprawlers could tell you better than anyone.
The Matrix, as for what’s good in a tourney, stuff that increases attack power or cuts down on ki consuption works great. As long as it isn’t Yakon or Viral Heart disease, I think anything goes.
3 slots isn’t alot for suppressing your ki usage by 1/3rd. It really isn’t.
And it really is odd that Bardock can’t use Saiyan Spirit. IMO, he showed the greatest saiyan spirit of all.
However, Babidi’s Scope barely suppresses ki usage. The capsule is nearly useless. Meditation and the 2 slot ki suppressing capsules are just far better.
First of all, Brolly is a bottom tier character, for one simple reason:
He is way too slow. A vast majority of his chains can be dodged and then interrupted. That warrants him from improving his spot on the tier list. He can outreach Piccolo, but the fact that the vast majority of his chains are pitifully slow just make it horrible.
Kid Buu has his juggling ability and high baseline ki. But his long range ->P starter is slower than others. Thats what kills him.

Janken fist is useless. No way!!! The fact that you can cancel out of it makes it very useful.IMO
He’s got great strings. Also when he uses yakon he’s dangerous,
Goku not in the top 3 standings… Bleh His capsule choices are godly.
He dosent need L4 to do damage…
Goku has the second best capsule potential in the game. But his combo platform prevents him from using his capsule potential to its fullest. Goku cannot effectively attack opponents who are defending. He needs to rely on his opponent making a mistake first, and in a high level fight, that isn’t going to happen much.
Can Kid Goku use his Janken Fist like a combo cancel?
About the janken fist… Sure instead of one option you cancel and now have something like 3.
And goku Hrrmmm I dont know… Your High level fight’s must really differ from mine… In my matches the only guy that gives goku serious problems is piccolo…I thought meditation stopped the threat of “block…wait…counter”…

Wow, the tier list changed, big time. :wow: Freeza is actually higher than Cell? Seriously, I’m shocked. And yes, the one con Brolly has is that he is slow but depending on the skill of the players in a high level fight, I could see someone whupping series booty with Brolly. Speaking of slow characters, anyone else notice how much slower Cooler gets when he goes into his Final Form? It sucks.
Kid Goku really is the best short character in the game, despite is low baseline ki. I’d take him over Kid Trunks and Goten any day, superior combo platforms and all. The Janken fist isn’t that good of a death move but you can stop in the middle of it, which is cool.
Anyone used Recoome much? The dude is just awesome and his capsule setups aren’t too shabby. He always was my fav member of the Ginyu Force.
Goku has problems versus anyone who has range.
Meditation doesn’t save Goku as much as it does Vegeta. Goku has no way of attacking somebody who is defending without getting killed. His only safe cancel is his KKKK. Dabura can also beat the crud out of Goku.
Goku needs 4 bars of ki to make use of meditation. When the opponent uses yakon, Goku has major issues because he has no ways of building ki other than blocking.
Highest level play (which is when tiers come into play) is all about utilizing the right capsule set-ups, attacking with safe combo cancels, making use of your defencive maneuvers and managing your ki well in order to win.
In highest level play, it’ll be an issue. Once Brolly is fighting the characters in the upper tier 3 and above, a skilled player will be having major issues. Brolly IS however, capable of taking on a perfect range game played by Piccolo and Dabura; there aren’t many people capable of doing that.
Recoome and Ginyu are both awesome in this game.
How do you guys start off your matches? I never start off with a death move. I suppose it depends on who I’m using. If it’s Piccolo, I think an excellent way to start is to do his poking game.
Oh and is it possible for the Recoome Kick to be dodge other than teleporting? I’ve side stepped that sucker and I’ve still been hit by it.
I think death moves are actually a waste… There’s a chance (with the exception of ginyu I think) they won’t hit:(

I have all three games…but man I have no idea what you guys are talking about sometimes. Like how exactly do you cancel your combos and stuff? Could you give me an example of a basic combo-cancel? Is Goku the best in the game? I hope not cuz I hate him. Are breakthroughs really worth using your dragon ball wish on? That’s all i can think of for now…but I’ll post more questions later
For combo cancels and stuff, go to GameFAQs. Look at the Budokai 2 guides. Check Evil CAP America’s combo guide. Sure, its outdated, but the exact same mechanics are used.

I can’t believe how far Goku has slid on the tier list. Seriously, I’m surprised. He’s still one of my fav characters, though. Does anyone think Saiyan Spirit is a bit of a weekness since you can’t block? I don’t think it is really because if someone wants to break your guard it can be done easily and then there’s also the tapping of the guard button for quick dodges. I gotta start playing this game again. Anyone got some match vids?

Why is Videl ranked higher than Uub? I can’t think of ANY reason why Videl is higher than Uub besides range. Uub has Fierce Flurry, one of the best level 2 death moves in the game. He’s got more combo power. More cancel power. And he’s somewhat nimble.

sayian spirit…I used to use it but now im trying out the centipede ed soup (or something like it) It raises your attack and lowers your defense… The attack is raised something like 5 points higher than the spirit…And yes I to would like to see some vids…

About Saiyan Spirit. . .
It adds 25% attack and 30% defence. But as we know, NO BLOCKING! But there’s dodging right? It won’t do much. People who have fast, easy to repeat combo chains can easily wear out people who are forced to constantly dodge. Goku, Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz will have their moments where they are low on ki. The best solution is blocking. But without blocking, they have to constantly run away. It’s definately not pretty, what can happen when somebody uses saiyan spirit in a high level fight. . .

As for the tiers, I didn’t think they’d be changing this much. So this is the third one, huh? Cool.
Uub may not be one of the higher tier fighters but he’s still pretty fun to use. I don’t think he’s a joke character or anything. No, that would be reserved for Hercule.
Are there any stats that you shouldn’t ever bother with when building a fighter in Dragon Arena mode? I wanted to make some of my fighters excel in just about every aspect but I don’t know of all stats are worth increasing.
Even if I don’t count any cancels, Uub still has Fierce Flurry… an unblockable super that can cancel on every punch after the 3rd, can CHARGE attacks after the third to become unblockable, can cancel the attacks after the third, sends the opponent flying, AND does great damage. But not counting that move, we can still say that Uub has cancels off of his K and forward+K. Off a punch string, he can stun long enough to land his kick cancels. Finally, his forward punch string (the one with 4 points where he can charge/cancel punches) is just great as a mix-up game. It may not be guaranteed, but that’s what makes Uub style so unpredictable. I say we immediately move Uub up to a tier of his own simply because of his haircut.

Uub is moving up. So if you think he’s placed low, he’ll be moving up.
Arts = Most useless ability in DA. High ability will actually get you dealing more damage than high arts will. Attack increases special move damage more than arts anyway.
