Official 2010 MLB season/fantasy baseball thread

Been waiting for that forever now. Hopefully it’ll happen soon. I’ll just keep posting my tiers in the meantime in-between time.

What would you be interested in?

Offered you a trade ckrazy.

Also, make sure to fix the number of teams CLint, there is a bug where byes are created when you adjust the number of teams and that happened in the league. Fix dat shit.

imo.

Matrix you trying to make a deal? You guys already know I want Felix, Ichiro and Cliff Lee so the first 15 picks are useless to me. Having the 2nd overall pick means nothing to me! I’m not going to get lucky like the Seattle Super Sonics and draft Kevin Durant 2nd nor will I pull a move like the Portland Trail Blazers and draft Sam Bowie 2nd. So I’m trading down! I’m looking for picks that can land me Felix, and Ichiro.

Lothar: Sorry bro/brah/browski that not what I’m looking for.

I can do a 2nd,3rd,and 4th round pick for your 1st and a later round pick of yours.

Deal.

Lint I want a trophy for first trade made just like in SRK Basketball Fun League. =)

Slow down. We’re close but not there yet.

Alright I made a counter. Check it out broski!

Almost there.

Okay just accept the damn thing already!

2-3-4 for
1-11-13.

Sounds good to me!

Hmm. My team page says differently. If at first you don’t succeed…

Catcher Tiers

Tier 1

Joe Mauer
Victor Martinez

These are the difference makers at the position. They get the counting stats and are almost certain to hit over .300.

Tier 2

Brian McCann

He’s a cut below but he’ll still put up good stats for a catcher.

Tier 3

Miguel Montero
Geovany Soto
Matt Wieter
Kurt Suzuki
Russell Martin

These guys will get you HR and RBI even if the .AVG and Runs aren’t so high. Wieters has the upside to vault into the first 2 tiers.

Tier 4

Jorge Posada

He’s pushing 40 but he can still get the job done especially in Yankees Stadium

Tier 5

Chris Iannetta
Mike Napoli
Ryan Doumit

There’s potential for good things from this group. They just need the opportunity.

Tier 6

A.J Pierzynski
Bengie Molina
Yadier Molina

Nothing special but they’re steady. If nothing else they won’t drag down your batting average.

Next up the outfielders. Not sure when I’ll list that one though.

Posada should not be in a tier by himself. At his age and the fact that he’s probably going to be sitting out a lot more games this year he shouldn’t be picked over anyone in Tier 5 imo.

Anyway, mock drafts are fun! From the 4th position (The worst draft position besides 11th in a 12 man league imo) I got:

  1. Chase Utley (Phi - 2B)
  2. Carl Crawford (TB - OF)
  3. Ichiro Suzuki (Sea - OF)
  4. Flix Hernndez (Sea - SP)
  5. Shin-Soo Choo (Cle - OF)
  6. Michael Young (Tex - 3B)
  7. Chone Figgins (Sea - 3B)
  8. Jonathan Papelbon (Bos - RP)
  9. Andrew Bailey (Oak - RP)
  10. Elvis Andrus (Tex - SS)
  11. Michael Cuddyer (Min - 1B,OF)
  12. Kurt Suzuki (Oak - C)
  13. Edwin Jackson (Ari - SP)
  14. Randy Wells (ChC - SP)
  15. Randy Wolf (Mil - SP)
  16. Jonathan Snchez (SF - SP)
  17. Rajai Davis (Oak - OF)
  18. J.P. Howell (TB - RP)
  19. Ervin Santana (LAA - SP)
  20. J.A. Happ (Phi - SP,RP)
  21. Magglio Ordez (Det - OF)
  22. Joe Blanton (Phi - SP)
  23. Scott Feldman (Tex - SP)

Should dominate in OBP, BA, Runs and Stolen Bases. Could use some more power, but I could trade for that.

My starting pitching is pretty middle tier, but solid relief pitching should help balance out some of the averages.

I can respect that. Those Tier 5 guys aren’t without risk though. Iannetta lost his job once and could lose it again to Migue Olivo if he falters. I’m resigned to the fact that Napoli will not get 400 at-bats playing for Mike Scioscia. Doumit when healthy (stop me if you’ve heard that one before) is a good player but that lineup around him is awful. As long as Posada is healthy he’ll play more often in a better lineup. If nothing else I can just start him at home where he’s a beast and (hopefully) have someone else who won’t kill me when the Yankees are on the road or when A.J Burnett is pitching.

Yeah out of everyone in your Tier 5 I have the highest hopes for Napoli this year. Posada’s defense has never been fantastic but in the past the Yanks sacrificed defense for his bat. As he gets older his defense is getting worse and his bat isn’t exactly improving. Napoli will probably get more at-bats than Posada this year. Iannetta is a huge question mark. If you’re going to take a risk on a catcher you could probably do better getting Barajas on the Mets, as he’ll probably get the starting spot.

Also, no love for John Baker? He’s a solid bat for a catcher position and he’s young. He hits for a better average than anyone in your tier 5, and he should be doing the bulk of the catching duties for Florida, in only his 3rd year. If anything he should be in the tier 4 with the potential to move into tier 3. In fact, he had better numbers than Matt Weiters and he only had about 20 more at-bats than him last season. Now I think Weiters probably has a higher ceiling, but Baker is a pretty solid choice if you’re late in the draft and need to fill the position.

Always hate trying to fill in the C…

who should i pick with my #1 pick? i was thinking about david eckstein or maybe nick swisher

Trade down for someone’s first rounder next year and umm…Matt Tuiasopopo

sup rob

Sometimes my friend and i play catch stoned… i like to pretend i am rey ordonez/torii hunter. It makes me feel like a G.

i need a scrappy player who just knwos how to win to build my team around, don’t think tuiasoppop fits that

but good idea trading my picks to improve next year

I guess you’ll just have to go with Jason Marquis and his streak of 11 years making the playoffs. Nats going into the playoffs this year!
#1 starter for team scrap.
