Screw morph’s league. I want you in SRK Baseball Fun League. Since you missing out on SRK Basketball Fun League.
Consider it done! Send all relevant information to my e-mail address please.
2nd basemen tiers
Tier 1
Chase Utley
He’s good in all 5 offensive categories and plays in a great lineup and a hitter friendly ballpark.
Tier 2
Dustin Pedroia
Ian Kinsler
Contenders to the throne held by Utley. They both give you power, speed, and runs with Kinsler having the power advantage while Pedroia hits for a higher average.
Tier 3
Robinson Cano
I don’t like the limited stolen base ability but he brings power with a high average and plays in an incredible lineup.
Tier 4
Brian Roberts
Brandon Philips
Aaron Hill
Ben Zobrist
Some of these guys have produced for numerous seasons. Some of them have only been productive one season. I won’t say that Hill is a fluke but I don’t think he’ll hit 30 homeruns this season. Roberts is getting up there so the stolen bases could continue to fall this season. Philips gives you the 20HR/20 SB but not much else. Zobrist seems like he could be good but I don’t know about him. Seems so fluky. There’s an outside chance he might not start this season.
Tier 5
Jose Lopez
Howie Kendrick
Martin Prado
There’s potential for good things from this group. Kendrick could potentially be a 5-cat contributor this season. Jose Lopez is making a steady progression every season. He just needs to make that next leap to become a star. The woeful lineup hurts his runs scored. Martin Prado doesn’t have speed but he hits really well.
Tier 6
Dan Uggla
Rickie Weeks
Clint Barmes
Dan Uggla is who he is. He’ll hit for power. He’ll hit for a lot of power but he’ll damage your average. Weeks does the same average damage with somewhat less power but more speed. Whenever he plays. Clint Barmes also has the power/speed/bad average combo like Weeks with fewer runs but without the injury history.
Tier 7
Alberto Callaspo
Mark Ellis
Placido Polanco
Orlando Hudson
Kelly Johnson
Luis Castillo
These guys are nothing special. They have the opportunity to put up numbers but that’s it. Castillo can get you steals, Polanco is in a good lineup, and Kelly Johnson could bounce back to mediocrity but other than that meh.
Tomorrow I’ll do the shortstops.
Can I get a trophy for having a trade veto before the season even starts?
In fantasy, Vazquez>>>CC. Each “>” is one of the stats he’s better than him in (ERA, Ks and WHIP). And you’re dumb if you think Vazquez is going to have a significant drop in Ks. He had back-to-back 200 K seasons in 2007-2008.
If you’re going to be a douche, at least know what the fuck you’re talking about.
What are you talking about. We are allowed to trade draft picks. This is a ROADHOUSE LEAGUE. Roadhouse league = realistic franchise! All rule applied! (Except for salary cap)
Nothing. Nothing at all. Move along. Nothing to see here. All is well.
Ok then u take Vasquez and i’ll take Sabathia. Yes, Vasquez had a slightly better fantasy year last year, but you can’t expect him to have a better year than Sabathia again.
If you want to argue how Vasquez gives you much more value in respect to where they are drafted then that’s fine, but to say that Vasquez is better than Sabathia is dumb.
I’m talking strictly about last year. And he didn’t have a “slightly” better year. He had 40 more Ks and half a run in ERA on him.
And he still projects to an over 4.00 ERA this year by any baseball projection you look at for 2010, and probably loses about 10 strikeouts off his average, and he also pitches in the AL this year.
What makes you think I don’t know what I’m talking about?

A bunch of statisticians are more bullish on Vasquez than I am, putting him in the high 3s, but given his flyball tendencies, yankee stadium and being in a tougher league, I’m gonna say over 4.00 by a little. I am also factoring in a slight drop in K/9.

Hmm, another interesting take.
How fucking many times do you want me to say it? I don’t know why you’re posting these links when you clearly can’t even read.
You are waaaay too serious.
Besides, you totally misread my first post on the subject.
Shortstop Tiers
Tier 1
Hanley Ramirez
He doesn’t run like he used to but he gets more RBI from hitting lower in the lineup. Arguably the no.1 pick in fantasy leagues and no worse than 2nd.
Tier 2
Troy Tulowitzki
Jose Reyes
The steals for Tulo came out of nowhere but even if they’re fluky he’s still strong in the other 4 categories. Don’t forget about Jose Reyes who when healthy will steal a ton of bases, score a bunch of runs while making solid contributions in AVG,HR,and RBI.
Tier 3
Jimmy Rollins
Derek Jeter
They’re both getting pretty old (Jeter’s getting really old) but they’re productive players great lineups in hitters ballparks. Rollins will get more steals while Jeter will have the higher batting average.
Tier 4
Asdrubal Cabrera
Yunel Escobar
Alexi Ramirez
Cabrera will hit well steal some bases and score some runs. Yunel Escobar is a good hitter who could hit 20+ home runs but he doesn’t run enough. Ramirez went from overrated to underrated. He brings the speed and the power.
Tier 5
Everth Cabrera
Elvis Andrus
They’ll get you steals. A lot of steals actually. Anything else is a bonus.
Tier 6
Miguel Tejada
Jason Bartlett
Alcides Escobar
Stephen Drew
Rafael Furcal
J.J Hardy
Erick Aybar
They play in good lineups so they should be somewhat productive.
Tomorrow the 3rd basemen.
Throw Gordon Beckham in that tier 3/4, and tier 2 in a couple of years
I wanted to keep the tiers as simple as possible. With Mark Teahen playing 3rd base Gordon Beckham will in all likelihood become the White Sox 2nd basemen but for now he’s only eligible at 3rd base. I like him this season but he’s not gonna come cheap. You have to believe that he’ll breakout if you want to pay what it’ll take to get him. Tier 4 sounds about right.
Third Base Tiers
Tier 1
Alex Rodriguez
Evan Longoria
A-Rod bad hip and all still got his 30HR and 100 RBI with double digit stolen bases. Now healthy even at 34 should still have 1 more huge season left in him. Evan Longoria had 30 home runs and 100+ RBI/RS and yet he still left people wanting. That’s when you know you’ve arrived. He’s only 24 years old. The monster season from him has yet to come.
Tier 2
Pablo Sandoval
Ryan Zimmerman
Phenomenal players. I expect them to have great seasons again with plenty of upside.
Tier 3
David Wright
Mark Reynolds
Aramis Ramirez
David Wright has put up some monster seasons but came up short last year for a number of reasons. Hopefully it was a fluke but it can’t all be explained away by the injuries and ballpark. Mark Reynolds had the sexy all around numbers last season but a person with all those strikeouts can end up killing your batting average which thus affects all the other numbers. Aramis Ramirez wasn’t bad last season. He just didn’t play often. When he did he was his typical self.
Tier 4
Chone Figgins
Michael Young
Gordon Beckham
I prefer to get power from the corner positions but Chone Figgins works for different types of teams. I don’t like that he’s going from one of MLB’s best lineups to one the worst. Michael Young won’t hit as many home runs which are preferred at 3rd base but he hits over .300 most seasons so that counts for something. Gordon Beckham had a good rookie season. Assuming he makes the usual progressions he’ll be a productive fantasy player. He won’t come cheap though.
Tier 5
Ian Stewart
Alex Gordon
Chase Headley
Stewart has so much power but the average hurts. If he ever hits like .260 though then look out. Alex Gordon is one of those guys who was overhyped but then dissapointed and then forgotten. He has a ton of physical talent but if he ever figures out the baseball skills he could be a really good player. Now he’s a low-risk, high-reward player where before that wasn’t the case. Chase Headley is coming along. He’ll hit some homers and steal some bases.
Tier 6
Casey McGehee
Adrian Beltre
Chipper Jones
McGehee had a solid partial season for Milwaukee but I’m still skeptical. If Adrian Beltre bounces back from his down season last year but playing in Fenway instead of Safeco Park then he could have a very good season. Chipper Jones is one of the greats but he’s heading towards the twilight of his career. I guess he could bounce back somewhat and hit over .300.
Tier 7
Mark Derosa
Jhonny Peralta
Scott Rolen
Brandon Wood
Edwin Encarnacion
Brandon Inge
Best of the rest.
I know that I left off Kevin Youkilis but I consider him a 1st basemen. In terms of 3rd basemen he’d be in tier 3 most likely.
Catchers tomorrow.
Draft order is out so we can start a mock draft.
imo.
I got the 2nd overall draft pick? What?
2nd pick is on the board anyone want to trade up?
