[Oct 13, 2012] Gulf Coast Encounter #9 ft. UMvC3, TTT2, & Project M (Gulf Breeze, FL 32561)

Had a blast. Isaac is considering coming down for the next one if he can swing it, and I’ll definitely try to be there as long as I can get a ride.

I felt like a total noob for holding up my first match with that headset/amp stuff, so sorry about that lol. Felt like overkill for a local, but I might as well use it if I’ve got it, you know?

Any way to have the random tournament a lil later. We all know how much I love to work at publix

Car is basically repaired so I will be at the next event. Really looking forward to whatever the random tournament is, the more random the game the better to me as that is really all I play. Any interest in a very small side even for Last Blade 2 or one of the older King of Fighters? I do not want to take anything away from the main events but there has to be some interest out there for the older games.

Fullschedule, are you in Gulf Breeze much? If you live out there or happen to be in the area some time you should hit up my place and get some games in, I have got quite a collection. Plus you work in IT and I could use some help configuring my new Linux media server (old Dell PowerEdge) I’m making a media server.

Good to hear about your car situation. We can do a poll or you can try to ask around if there is any interest for the games at the next GCE.

Yeah, but I usually get off work and head home to rest / study. If I get some free time or after I pass this certification I’d be happy to stop by and game some.

How much space is in the old Dell PowerEdge? I am actually going to be building my own media environment very soon and I will most likely be customizing a data server for all of the files.

hahaha dood that headset shit is sooooo god like.

bring your friends!!! don’t forget you can come out here randomly if you want and train in between GCEs.

I would definately be interested playing some Last blade 2 and any other Neo Geo fighters you have. I haven’t played the game in forever, but I remember enjoying it. I will probably practice a little on supercade to get a little refreshed.

I was thinking of arriving early, around 3 or 4, because I can’t stay as late as the tourney runs. Is anyone there around that time?

Hey Borc, I show up around 2 to start setting up for the event. I know there were a few people there early last time as well. Since the charity tournament is starting a bit earlier than the rest, I imagine people showing up early for signups too. If anything, I will be there lol.

Sazae might show up early to set up his neogeo, especially if you’re interested in playing. I’m sure he will chime in.

To set up all my equipment and due to the Random tournament I will definitely arrive early, and since I’m so close it’ll make it even easier. As I had said before I got the best reactions from Last Blade 2 and SamSho V Special but I would love to play some of the King of Fighters and even the puzzlers like Magical Drop and Bust-A-Move. Would say I may be willing to bring Windjammers but then money would have to come on the line and I’d go a little past the fun casual aspect, Windjammers just gets way to damn competitive.

As for that PowerEdge FullSchedule it’ll be a little bit before I fully get it all going. It uses SCSI drives in a hot-swap configuration and I don’t have the drives to toss in there right now. As you may know 10k 72gb SCSI drives are not cheap but once it’s gets going it has 6 memory slots to populate and then it will be connected to a 2tb NAS.

From what I can gather, the games are played on 360. I do not have a 360 arcade stick. Will Live Wire provide any arcade sticks that players in tournament can use?

Jay, all games are played on XBOX360 - you are correct. As for arcade sticks, Live Wires does not have any 360 arcade sticks for rental use. However, I am sure someone at the tournament will most likely let you use their arcade stick if they aren’t playing in a game at that time.

I would recommend acquiring a dual modded stick if you plan on participating in tournaments in general, though. A lot of the big tournaments are played on XBOX360, at least the ones that I have been to.

Sorry about not making it to the last one, the flooding probably kept more than just me at home. Fun water damage to a part of my roof and my backyard and garden basically ruined. If the location wasn’t damaged at all then I hope there is another event and I look forward to attending.

From Mobile, AL here. Planning on attending. Can I sign up for a tournament even if I only have a PS3 stick? I don’t want to be DQ’ed, you know?

All tournaments are played on a 360. Do you have a way to play on a 360? We are also a nice scene, so somebody would let you borrow their stick.

I don’t have a 360 or a 360 stick but I play on PC which is equivalent frame-wise to the 360 version. I really want to enter AE. I’m just worried I won’t have a stick available when my match starts. I don’t want to hold you guys up or anything. If it becomes a regular thing for me then I will invest in a 360 stick.

I and two other friends will be coming this Saturday. See you all there!

So even though there was the return of Noah a couple weeks ago it looks to be clear outside this weekend and I fully intend on being there. May I ask what the surprise/mystery game was last time? I plan on bringing the full Neo setup and some games so I should be one of the first people there to help get all my stuff set up. One quick question, do the TV’s have s-video inputs so I’m not limited to composite? On an old system like the Neo it really makes a difference. And I’m going to list a couple games up for a side/mini tournament and would like to see what everyone would like to have played. No entry or cost for it, just be interested and I will come up with a prize for the winner out of my own pocket, just want to raise awareness of great games that came out before 2009.

Game list, please let me know what everybody would like to play.

  1. King of Fighters 98
  2. Real Bout Fatal Fury Special
  3. Last Blade 2
  4. Garou: Mark of the Wolves
  5. Samurai Shodown V Special

I will also run an extra, silly side game as my “mystery” one. Could be something like Kabuki Klash, Magical Drop II (I don’t have 3), SVC Chaos, Street Hoops, whatever. Hope this is cool with you FullSchedule, give me a call at 850.529.6217 if any of this would cause a problem.

PS: I will be providing my modded old style stick (this), a kidney bean stick (this), and two converters to use PS2 controllers on my Neo. I will have a DualShock with me along with my custom which is all sanwa parts.

The last charity game was Bust-A-Move. Who knows whats in store this Saturday! Full Schedule is going to have answer the S-Video quesiton.

Awesome about the charity game, I recently got the MVS cart of Bust-a-Move Again and along with Magical Drop are easily the best puzzle games on the Neo and some of the best of all time.

SSF4AE? Yes! I’m in! Cool if I bring a lagless 24" monitor?

It’s not much but here is what I want to do for my mini/side event on the NeoGeo for the next GCE. No entry fee at all to play on my system but I will provide out of my own pocket a $20 gift card to Gamestop to the winner. The games to be played will be Last Blade 2 and Garou Mark of the Wolves. If there are any objections we will switch over to King of Fighters 98. I will play casually but will not enter myself in the tournament. I would prefer 8 people to make the tournament setup easier but I will figure something out if fewer. No seeding if we can get 8 people, if less than 8 then we will use KoF 98 to determine the seeding. Come on people, free tournament with nothing to loose and a prize for the winner.
