Okay, I gotta know your thoughts people. The next poker night is apparently THIS Friday. What’s more, Chunksta (one of Cali’s premiere level MvC2 players and 2006 EVO runner up to Justin Wong) will be present. My question is, do you guys want to have a league event that night?
My personal thoughts are against holding a tournament. While it would be nice to see the special guest whoop ass in a competitive environment, the dude is here on vacation. Keeping the evening casual would also ensure that more people get the chance to play him. Lastly, it might be a touch unfair to expect people outside of King County to plan a trip on such short notice. Out of towners that are taking the league rankings seriously might fall behind simply because they were unable to organize a carpool or get time off of work on 2 day’s notice.
Those are my 2 Yen. If you have thoughts on the matter, share it. This HAS to be resolved by tomorrow afternoon/evening so that SRK readers in the region know what to expect come Friday.
I don’t really mind if we have a tourney or not. I kinda think we should ask Chunk if he wants one or not. But other than that, I suppose just a big ass Marvel party would be dope. The longer you stay to play, the better hahah.
Actually its pretty normal for us to have tournaments when people from out of town come to Seattle.

As I see little support for a league event, we won’t be having one this Friday. Zach said that everyone is welcomed to show up starting at 3PM. Knowing gamers in this area, people will just meander in sporadically. I would not be averse to holding a non-league affiliated tournament, but that’ll sort of happen whenever enough people decide they want one.
So if you’re strictly a competitive player, show up to play Chunksta. If a side tournament happens, it happens.

That was not what I said if you read my post. I’m not here to make friends and I’m not making any friends are not the same thing. My intentions and the result of other intentions don’t always coincide. I’m not all about competition and that’s why I think it’s great that marvel is next to 3s since we can all socialize again. I’ve said nothing about anyone in particular or in name and have no intention of attacking an individual so much as prevelant dispostions that are bothering me.
As for the cross-hopping-on travel post, at the end of the day I could have got there if I absolutely had to. I’m just saying that as you know it’s not always easy to get somewhere far at the drop of a hat with no car.
Secondarily this is NOT a set in stone thing. I’m sure that if your able to get enough interest in 3s, and that you have GURANTEE’S on people that are going to enter, then i’m sure tournies will be held for this game. For instance, I had every intention on entering the tournament…I was BROKE as a mother fucker…even pleading to Kyle “PLEASE!!! 1 dOLLAR GAMES of THIRTEEN!” I was poor as hell…unfortunately I couldn’t enter. I really don’t have an interest in anything but 3s. If the community decides it is out then I’m out by proxy. So yeah I’m gonna be a little defensive about 3s being removed or pulled.

My whole point is that I’m tired of hearing “marvel has more players so nothing else is worth fuck”. I don’t see why we can’t co-exist. There are 3s players in the seattle or at least the northwest, and for everyone to be dismissing them is bullshit.
That’s it. Any implications anyone took other then that is entirely on them. I’m not a very indirect person, when I say something I just say it. I have no issue with anyone and I’m not angry at any particular individual.

Nonetheless, if it’s from a thread here, please reclarify, because i know MANY people are willing to play other fighters, it’s just that the main scene here is Marvel. Never once have I heard this allegation.
Just a little side note, 3s was playing last night. So to let you know, no one has “stopped” 3s or anything…2nd week still coming.
Yeah, seriously, I won’t let 3s die. Even if absolutely no one played it anymore at Zach’s in the future, I’d bring a TV and set up 3s and just play training mode the entire time until someone played with me.
I’m desperately looking forward to getting my 3S board. And if someone could definitively tell me the state of PS3 lag on a LCD HD when playing 3S/CvS2 there - that’d be awesome. I’m going to get a PS2/PS3 to make this whole thing easier, but I still don’t know if the PS3 would be nasty on an HD TV… :sad:

Just go with the PS3, man. After watching it on the 42" Plasma at Paul’s, all I can say is… WOW :wow:. That was TIGHT playing VF5 and Oblivion. Puts the 360 to SHAME. Turn down the system graphics for 2d games, though. Otherwise they get a bit uglier. No lag. Honestly. none.
I can’t wait until Heavenly Sword. And MGS4… I’ll be ALL over that on release :lovin:
