On those two occasions, the player on the left was 2P, while the one on the right was 1P. It really threw me off since I was running around finding people for matches, and wasn’t paying attention to who won.
Alex lost to you in the first round on 5/4, but I recorded it as a win for him. I recall that we had go back and redo one match (Alex went on to beat Nate, but it was nulled), and I’ve been explicitly asking winners to report results to me ever since. I make mention of this in the 5/5 post featuring the tournament results. It was near the top, in the first paragraph.
It happened again on 6/1, in the first round of the loser’s bracket. Josh and Ben had just finished, and Josh lost. Josh immediately got up and ran out of the room, so I asked Ben [to confirm], and the following exchange ensued.
Me: You lost, right?
Ben: No, I won.
Me: (thinking that he was kidding) Really?
Ben: What, a black man can’t win at Marvel?
Me: He can if his name is Sanford, Wigfall, or something like that. You really won? I thought you just lost. I mean, I just saw the first player lose.
Evan: They were on opposite sides. Bunkei won.
Me: Oh, okay. Sorry.
Ben: Man, you a racist.
Is that a roundabout way of saying that you won’t be attending? I’m going to hold you to your word. If you show up on Friday, I’ll pay your ST entry fee for you. But only if you give me the cash equivalent in Bison Dollars.
Lemme see, Bison Dollars have no cash value since his plot to kidnap ____ wasn’t carried out. Sooooo, the typical coupon with no cash value is valued at 1/30 of a cent. So I’ll pay your ST entry fee of $1 in exchange for 3,000 Bison Dollars. Or 30 of what you have as your current av.

Less than 24 hours from what could be the final tournament of the season. I’ve got a prediction, I’m going to get crushed. I haven’t touched MvC2 in nearly 3 weeks.
Is anyone else going to get to Zach’s a little early for warm-up games? I’m in desperate need of some. All I’ve been playing are a couple of ST sessions. ST is fun, but the game is REALLY slow, and you’re only ever keeping in mind 4 or 5 possible tactics. I’m not sure if my brain can handle Marvel after such a sabbatical. I might sprain a few fingers tomorrow, since I haven’t had to execute any combo greater than 6 hits in a long ass time.

I wonder who would progress farther in the brackets. You two in Marvel, or me in ST. Note that this is not a pledge on my part to enter the ST tournament. Not sure my interest in the game warrants the entry fee.

I’m not even sure if I can enter Marvel tomorrow, as I’ve got $1 in my wallet right now. Not sure if I’ll have to time to stop by an ATM before getting to Zach’s tomorrow. I’ve got the $1 set aside for FatBear’s ST entry fee. He said that he’d enter if he were permitted to pay in Bison Dollars. I’m calling him on that bluff/joke. If he goes back on his word, AND if Umbrellastyle and Full Screen Super together win more matches than me in the Marvel tournament, I’ll go ahead and enter ST.

The truth is, tournaments run better if the organizer doesn’t participate in them. Look how chaotic the Marvel tournaments are. Thankfully, I try to do my own matches first. After I get eliminated (first round of loser’s usually), everything goes smoother.
The last time Full Screen Super placed in a tournament was 6/1. That was only 2 tournaments ago. Damn, boy’s got no memory. No wonder he keeps activating from the opposite side of the screen. We try to teach him but he just can’t remember.
Iono when you are trying to go out to Zach’s, but I’ll prolly be home from work around 5 pm today. We could practice a little bit before headin over to the east side if you want.
probably can’t. I’m in south everett, and will probably head directly to zach’s when I’m finished. I’ll probably break free at around 7PM, so wouldn’t be able to get in any meaningful practice games anyway. I’ll hopefully get to Zach’s before 8PM, I might pick up Zero along the way. Where does that guy live?
