I believe the tournament footage that just went up on Preppy’s site was for the 4/20 tournament. I don’t think the footage from 48 hours ago has been converted yet.
The ST tournament before the one with footage just posted on Preppy’s site was held on 3/16. That was the one where the Portlanders showed up, on the same night that the sole 3s tournament thus far was held. If that’s the one you’re referring to, I don’t think anyone filmed it. Also, didn’t you go 2 and out in that ST event?
Everything about me vs Kenny was hella bomb. Like even the whole shit leading up to the match where I was super confused about my controls at the control setup screen and where I had to restart cause I had Ken hahah. I’m glad that was all recorded!
David was pretty cool! Look forward to playing you again!
My stick works fine, I just had to rebuild the top section of the box. Took me like… 30 mins (only took that long because I have nothing to plane it with). I dunno about a MM rematch next time, but I’ll play you for sho’. As a matter of fact, I improved my game just by watching the combos you were attempting. Thanks to that, I’ve got my Storm game WAAY up from where it was. In a matter of hours
Well, I’m off to Oak Harbor for now. Can’t wait for the next one
Yeah I went 2 and out in that tourney, I was confused about the dates last night when I posted asking that, that one posted is the one I wanted to see.
Still looking forward to Fatal Fury Special though because some of the people who play that game would like to see some match play…
You saw how many Lightning Attacks => supers that I missed in our match alone. That shit is basic, and I couldn’t link it. I’ll offer a rematch to Kuenai since he thought that the controls might have cost him the money match. But I’d be hesitant to play anyone else for money.
I don’t think the controls cost me the money match Where did that come from? You’re a better player by far at this point. I just think the controls certainly were detrimental for my execution. Simple fact is, I couldn’t keep up with you. Other than character switching. i have no fucking clue what was up with that. I must’ve pressed k+p four times or so each time before switching AFTER eating a combo xx super. I had no problems on the arcade cabinet whatsoever. But the MAS sticks have some pretty big dead zones between diagonals and u/r/l/d. I’m used to 8-way japanese sticks. Never really play on american controls
I play on Jap sticks all the time and yet I played the best of the night on the arcade machine! LOL! Oh well hopefully by the next time I play out there I will be a much better player since I learned most of my marvel in 2 months or so with maybe 10 hours of true practice LOL. Hopefully I won’t be bringing the suck again and will be winning at least sometimes…
I just remembered how even after you swapped to the square gate stick, then to the arcade cab, you kept saying how you were having problems doing what you intended. I know that if I had lost money due to controls that I was not accustomed to, I’d like to have a chance to win it back. If we were money matching in an arcade with only Japanese sticks (especially with ball tops and square gates on a sit down cab), I’d be annoyed to say the least. So, if you should want a rematch, I’m game. It doesn’t have to be the next immediate tournament date. If you want a rematch a month or two down the line, that’s fine too.
I highly recommend regularly attending the tournaments. I get knocked out really early on (which also makes it easier since I run the events), but getting to watch the finals matches really let me see spacing and movement strategies that I never understood by playing casuals in Texas. I mean, a person can sit in training mode for over a thousand hours and master all of the beefy combos, but there’s no substitute for experiencing competitive play.
You’ve got more red bars than I have green bars. People must really hate you. I guess there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Perhaps I should seriously flame someone well known in the community and ride their coattails to stardom. I could take on the nickname “Dark Prince Jr.”, or, alternatively, “Duc Jr. Jr.”. nyuk nyuk
Just noticed that the next poker night is in fact this upcoming Friday (5/11). It’s short notice, do people want to have a league tournament? Whether you’re for or against, post up here by tomorrow night at the latest.
I’ll only take the opinions of those who have been attending into consideration. “But I won’t be able to make it” doesn’t carry much weight if you’ve never bothered to participate in the past.
Also, since no one has bothered to speak up about seeding, I’m presuming that there’s no objections to seeding both Marvel and ST tournaments from here on out.
