Now you can become one of us. The Jill Valentine Team Building Thread

We are three stuck in thesame boat … I still can’t find a third character

I’m currently running Jill/Ironman/Dr.Doom. Mainly for the missiles to have some sort of Anti air, pressure and combo extender. Although I’m not a big fan of playing doom, he’s the only one right now that covers a few weaknesses for both characters.

I used to run Jill / IM / Dante…mostly because I love anchor Dante and because Jam Session is a great tool for Jill and IM both. With IM it gives him good ability to do high / lows and it is also a pretty good combo extender for him (can hit about 850K from a basic KK). I think Dante is really good and really fun to play. Hes on every single one of my other teams, just not my main team anymore.

if you really want an AA but dont want to use Vajra then just use Dante. The weakest link on your team will be Iron Man (in theory at least). Dante is actually a very good anchor character. He may not be vergil, but hes definitely top 5 imo. Also, dont believe the garbage about Dante wastes all his XFac time killing one person…its simply not true if you use the right combo. Heres my xfac 3 dante combo:

confirm > volcano JC j.S > volcano JC j.S> million carats > beehive > volcano xx beehive. Does about 1mil meterless from a basic j.H>mhxxstinger confirm

@ Initial_R :

Don’t let anyone encourage you to HAVE to use a certain thing. A Stars Member means well, and I’ve run into this problem too. But if you feel that you can forego using a horizontal assist, then by all means. This is how we find new tech. I have Raccoon on all my teams and it’s to the point where it’s almost toxic, but I continually find new things w/ Log trap or Spitfire, and it justifies me for using it.

That being said, you need a horizontal assist :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: j/k But you will run into a situation some time sooner or later where you fight some X23 that flies around everywhere, backed by missiles and you need to get in somehow. Or you’ll fight some crazy Dorm that’s really good at keeping you full screen. Jill is a character that you can’t cover ALL the bases with just two assists, and it sucks.

I don’t use Wesker so I don’t know what’s good for him. Maybe Wesker / Dante? Or Wesker / Strider? You have to know that Jill is going to die eventually, and you need a good team of 2 to get you W’s back.

@ Admiral :

Jill / IM / Sent. Of course you gotta use whackbot, but it’s got everything you need. IM / Sent is good, ala Joker / Alukard. You get horizontal + lockdown for mixups. Give it a try. Also, in any order, THC is deadly to bad assist calls. You also have TAC infinites all the way around.

Im also considering using Jill/Vergil/Strider as a secondary team to Jill/Strange/Dante. I thought about using Jill/Strange/Strider for a bit but i think i would have to have a uber god like strange to pull that off, lol. I was also considering Jill/Strange/Hawk but idk about that one, maybe if i used bolts with strange and hawkeye with rag time shot (although rag time shot assist for strange would not be so great imo) or strange with daggers of denak (pseudo Anit-Air (Tracks)) well see. I might not use dante since Jill/Strange is technical enough as it is without adding dante as well to that already lol.

Now if Hawkye could raw tag combo to strange that would be sick. Or maybe i just dont know if he can really, to the lab.

Dante isnt really as technical as some people would lead you to believe. As long as you can do his 3 main bold cancels, and you learn to bold block, youre golden. His combos (including shot loops) really arent that hard if you spend a little bit of time with them. Also, anchor Dante is really reallllllly good. Extremely underrated imo. Xfac lvl 3 + DT is straight ridiculous, especially thunderbolt. The amount of chip you can do with xfac3 + DT + 5 thunderbolts is just plain silly.

Well it’s not so much that hes technical, i guess what i meant was theres a lot of buttons involved for team maziodyne lol that all. I think I’ll just tough it out since i have the most fun with this team and its a well rounded team as well. Then I will use Jill/Vergil/Strider as a secondary team possibly. Im not really liking hawkeye that much for this team to be honest. I also like that dante can raw tag to strange by himself and then strange can go into FOF loops.

sounds like a very solid team. The only thing I dont like about strange is that when I call bolts, it tends to trade with things like greyhound and task H arrows because they go under his bolts, but his bolts hit them in the head. It doesnt really allow me to get in an freely as id like, but I just need to work on the assist matchups. Im sticking with Jill / Strange / Ammy. Theres a lot of really cool shenanigans I can do. Both Jill and Ammy can DHC to FoF loop, Ammy gives Jill and Strange a retarded good THC, Bolts + Cold Star is really really good for Jill overall…Ammy can set up raw tags for Strange…so much stuff lol. Im loving it.

Ahhh, thanks for the much needed info guys. I’ve tested so many characters because of this team crisis… so I think I know the basics of dante, taskmaster and strider, which are all pretty decent additions to the team, I guess it is up to me to figure out which ones I have a affinity for. I can bold cancel with dante somewhat decently, though i’m not to sure how to bold block or to bold dash just yet… If you could link me to some info I would be a thousand times grateful good sir.

That’s what the Dante forums are for, sir. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well I looked a bit It is kinda all over the place… I’ll look alittle hard later but yeah thanks for the info anyway.

bold blocking is just bold cancelling a whiffed / blocked normal to save yourself from being punished. For example, you whiff Dante’s s.H against a spencer and he tries to punish with Bionic Arm. You just cancel into Bold after the super flash and youre safe. free.

I was originally trying to avoid drones because jill has such difficulty protecting the assist without MGS. Drones are really good for resets so its worth a try, now I just have to learn the whackot.

so…after using bolts for quite a while, Im really feeling like I MIGHT have to drop Strange…Bolts just…trades too much for my liking. Sure, its great if I call Strange before they call their assist…but its just…if we call assists at the same time, or they call assist first, the majority of projectile assists go underneath Stranges Bolts…basically our assists trade. Also, since Bolts are so high up, people dont really have to respect it since it doesnt actually make them block. characters can just sit there and wait for my approach…or just mash cr.L…characters with slides get out of this free too. Its become rather annoying. On top of all of this, I really dont like Stranges neutral, especially against characters like Nova, Mags, Spencer, Task, Frank, Cap, etc.

Ive gone into the lab and ive found Trons Boulder to be straight ridiculous in terms of beating other assists. It beats literally every other projectile assist, durability wise (yes it beats Unibeam, Plasma beam, Whirlwind, etc.). My resets work with it too (for the most part, had to adjust a few of them a little bit though). I havent actually tried the whole Jill / Tron thing in actual games yet, so I need to test it. Oh yeah, Boulder assist doesnt really cause any damage scaling since its only like…3 hits total and only one of those actually hits in my resets (well, all of my resets but one). I still hit about 680K for my reset combo.

Gonna try out a few other assists that ive got in mind and see what happens. I may look into Chris, not sure. I know Machine Gun assist trades with Greyhound (it beats the bottom two arrows but the top arrow goes over the gun bullets. It obviously doesnt beat beams durability wise, but yeah. Might be worth looking into. I know it scales her combos to hell though.

Ill keep yall updated.

I tried using Machine Gun assist with Jill and man would that assist get blown up by pretty much anything. I’m not sure if maybe it was just me but I never had a good experience with that particular assist. And goodl lord the damage scaling is insane as well…

Thats why I have been looking into iron man, the bolts assist while good doesn’t benefit jill as much as box jump type characters. You basically have to use 22S 9 as your approach option since smart players will be waiting for the ground teleport. Sometimes I go for the feral dash canceled command grab or overhead if I think my opponent is content guarding under the bolts assist, but this is obviously risky behavior.

Good luck with the Tron boulder assist, I know it works well with strange since it has a few startup hotbox up close and goes full screen so I guess it should work with jill.

In theory, IM is the best horizontal assist for Jill, IMO. But I’m all about unconventional  I use log but it doesn’t hit full screen.

Unibeam really is the best beam assist for Jill, the only problem is finding an anchor character that complements Iron man. I hear good things about log trap with iron man, but honestly I have never felt that comfortable with coon as an anchor :frowning:

I always wanted to try Jill with Ironman together but he just seemed too unreliable a character to have on your team after jill died. Although I think Jill with unibeam and drones would be great for her especially if you add Ika’s mixups to that team it can be really deadly imo. Im really liking Jill/Modok/Sentinel and by adding crazy obscure mix ups and resets (Ika’s) to my game it should be nasty. Plus all of my characters can TAC infinite. One Grab from jill on this team could mean certain death for anyone (balloon bomb assist). Modok can infinite anywhere on screen 2 so it makes it even sweeter.

Then you have the next character come out and modok loaded with 9 levels of understanding :o .
Well see how it goes, i may make a video for this team eventually, I love all 3 characters as well so this team is really fun.

I’ve mentioned it somewhere in this or another thread, I think the ultimate Jill team would have to be Jill / IM / Sent. But that’s just my opinion. TAC infinites or even if they’re not infinite they’re high damage TAC combos all around, you get a great horizontal assist and a good lock down for mixups. You get the two worst robots in the game though.
