Now you can become one of us. The Jill Valentine Team Building Thread

I think you should dump Wesker for someone to assist Jill in the neutral, and go with anchor Dante. Way better anchor than Hawkeye in my opinion.

Im like taskmaster … Jill Taskmaster Dante?

I think Jill / Taskmaster is totally slept on. Go for it.
One thing I really like about that team is that you can switch out either or both of their assists in between games to compensate for specific threats.
Vertical Arrows are a decent anti-air in my opinion since they carry bad guys down to the ground on contact, and horizontal arrows are also really nice if you don’t find yourself in need of an anti-air.

I don’t know much about actually playing Taskmaster, though, so I can’t say which position he should go in or even if he likes any of Dante’s assists. I’ll let you handle that one.

I played in vanilla Jill taskmaster shuma Gorath and I managed good results here
I liked the concept weasel shot jam session vertical arrow horizontal arrow

Thought this would better than putting out of topic in the combo thread.

Gangie, I think you are right on the whole meter build thing. I think the old pulsr combos do more meter build/less damage. If that is the case, I might roll with that. Right now I run Task (H.Arrows)/Jill (Arrow Kick)/ Phoenix (Overdrive) as the team that might work for me. I was using the idea from a team I played from a long time (and got out of evo pools last year), which is Task/GR/Phoenix. GR ran chain. I use Shield Skills to blow through most projectiles and chain to get the wall bounces/ cover taskmaster. I think with Jill it’s better for a few things.

  1. It hits crouchers, which was the only fault of chain. The idea of arrow kick hitting crouchers helps relieve me of being hit by people who can crouch chain.

  2. The massive amounts of stun arrow kick does to enemies. In turn, allows more pressure. Chain had some but just barely.

  3. the obv reason of giving Taskmaster a wallbounce, so an easy hit confirm shield skills to launch and relaunch again. and also very good for his combos.

Jill second allows me to get the TAC. plus with phoenix dead, easy to confirm arrows into MGS or a safe way in with arrow kick alpha counter into MGS. I also like the whole Jill/ overdrive. I just need to see what I can get on it since I’m still researching the team.

I love it when someone is quick to recognize that the conversation has changed tracks and proactively moves the discussion to the appropriate thread. <3

As much as I detest Jill anywhere besides point, I’d so steal that team out of pure fun if I liked Taskmaster, haha. If you want to build meter, the regular jump loops build pretty good meter, pile on alright damage, and can set up resets no problem if you end on Cartwheel. Try incorporating an assist in there to make the most of it. NSR has a fun one with Vajra that I stole that builds just over one meter off a Somersault, using three reps of jMMHS into H > Assist call > 4H > S > [Vajra hits] > TK Cartwheel. Maybe that will help.

This is definitely unorthodox and all over the place, but one thing I don’t agree with is Jill behind Task instead of the other way around. I get the strategy and the benefit of having the TAC infinite and a powerful long-range wallbounce to capitalize on, but I’m not sure how effective Task’s arrow hypers into MGS could be. I’d honestly love to know how that would work out. The very thought makes me uncomfortable, though, especially with your proposed tactic of CC’ing Arrow Kick directly into MGS. That just sounds like a complete mess of trouble and huge waste of meter, even with Phoenix dead.

Haha I don’t intend to do it that much. It was just suppose tactic. It may not work at all. Just something that came to mind. whole legion arrow/MGS is to really catch an assist. It’s kinda what I do with my Wesker/Task/Phoenix. also since Legion arrow into MGS doesn’t scale hitstun. It’s a free X-Factor happy B-day if done right. I really don’t trust X-factor 3 Jill or Task (although My XF3 Task can put in work and haven’t done enough with XF3 jill). I just like the idea of having an assist with an XF2 character.

The idea is Task shield skills will be covered by arrow kick and in turn Shield skills saves arrow kick from most projectiles in the game. It takes almost all of dooms H.plasma beam (i think it leaves like two hits left), also good against 8 way characters who aren’t careful with their rushdown. I don’t agree on Jill second either, but with the way looks, it’s makes it so that Jean will get her 5 bars.

Keep in mind, it’s just all theory. That’s why I came in here to ask some info and some insight. Thus, this will help out a lot.

Does every Legion Arrow hit both the character and the assist? If so, that’s an awesome idea. I think Taskmaster would also provide a nice THC with Jill in front.

Yeah, XF3 Jill is crap. Your jab will usually miss after crossing up with a feral dash or command grab because of it. It is funny using Mad Beast in it, or just using her Somersault > TK Cartwheel infinite. Blowing X-Factor to secure the double kill is worth it more often than not.

I’m really digging the idea of having a monstrous, nearly projectile-invincible battering ram.

Legion arrow hits both characters, which leads to the theory of MGS into X-factor level 2 to get rid of both. and have incoming from there.

I like the idea as well. It worked well with GR. the only thing wrong would be the move puts her in danger where as GR’s chain doesn’t count as part as of the hurtbox.

Can someone elaborate on how this works? Not sure how I would set up a raw tag into strange from Jill on point.

I have messed around DHCing from Jill’s cinematic hyper in the corner into strange’s anti-beam hyper, and going into FOF loop but I haven’t been too successful. Does anyone have the ideal inputs for Jill into Strange DHC xx FOF loop?
( edit: found a video here, http://www.youtube.com/user/maziodyneMVC/videos )

I’m also interested in an alternate to doom (with missiles) as my anchor. Any suggestions?

you could try ammy cold start assist with strange that works pretty well.

I’m running a new team Of Jill/Dante/Iron Man. I’ve been trying a host of different Jill teams, but I think this one has a lot of potential as far as I’m concerned. Reading these posts Jill needs two things. Anti-Air Help and a lockdown assist. Both DHCs cause heavy damage from Dante and Ironman.

Stengths
*Heavy DHC damage
*Great lockdown
*Safe DHC tag from first two chars
*Infinite’s (Not as important until I learn the game)
*Good movement
*Good transition from keepaway to rushdown
*Opponent lack of knowledge

Weakness
*High execution
*Not S tier
*Average comeback factor
*Weak to rushdown
*Weak to keepaway
*Hard to convert damage from SJ height
*No true “get off me button”

Purely from theory crafting, I would want to get a hit with Jill to BnB to X-factor to kill first char. Mixup second char and either snap in anchor or reset second char depending on threat level.

What do yall think?

Which assists are you running?

Jill (Arrow)/ Dante (Jam)/ Iron Man (Uni-Beam)

not sure on arrow, usually if Jill is second she is healing up and I don’t want to call her. SS might be better for the invicible status?

It’s your call. I’d been meaning to play around with Dante backed by Arrow Kick since I had first just blown it off by saying he needs his wallbounce, but I’d never considered his reset potential. If you find yourself wanting an emergency escape, then you might want to go with Somersault. It probably won’t connect since it can just be blocked on reaction, but you can stance cancel it and move around before or immediately after the hit comes out, assuming it connects.

Jill behind Jam Session works, but I personally find it extremely frustrating due to its lack of horizontal range.

Unibeam is just fan-freaking-tastic for both characters, I think. It will mitigate your “weak to keepaway” negative, especially with Dante.

applauses you for doing research before asking questions you’re the best newbie to a forum we could ever ask.

I think that team is pretty solid, but you have to play IM anchor. It better be solid, lol. Jill loses to too much bs :frowning: I don’t play Dante so I couldn’t tell ya :\ But Unibeam is great for Jill, but it scales her damage to shit. What I do, is if unibeam hits, I’ll reset them right after. Not sure if it’s a good idea though.

Since you’re already scaling your damage super hard, you’re not sacrificing much damage for resetting at different times in different ways off of a Unibeam confirm. Just keep it mean and ambiguous, and don’t forget that you also have Jam Session. Call it just before a cross-up feral dash when you reset at point-blank, and you might be able to extend your resets from there by forcing them to block.

True, but it keeps them on their toes, since they’re not expecting a reset right away. But then again eeking out that 300k before the reset is helpful for her damage issues >_<

I agree. I like to do light, light, feral teleport behind opponent to get rid of damage scaling.

I really am loving uni-beam. It does everything I need to do to get Jill in except for being a little slow against magneto. I have very little exp using Jill as an assist for resets… Going to test this week. I usually just use Jam session to discourage someone going to air and to get rid of doom missiles.

Dante/Ironman is really good too. Dante–> Jump—> Beach Ball —> M and call ironman while falling —> 236 S —> teleport into mixup is a nice way to pressure. Can’t wait to test it out against my roommate.

Here is a first to ten against my friend using this team. Note My friend is Super Saiyan Goku 4 fused with Super Man Prime and I’m a jar of soggy peanuts. There also a few pauses (30 seconds to a few minutes between game because we are discussing strats.

My roommate thinks Jill has no way to get in if he plays a solid zoning game. What do yall think?

I replied to your video in the video thread [LINK]
I didn’t say it in the response, but I really enjoyed watching those matches. Jill makes me happy, and you make me happy by playing her competently, team construct included. Please don’t quit.
