Now that the servers are actually working, Im loving it! The game plays like a dream, the netcode is amazing and its just fun learning all these new matchups. I cant wait for next month content update. Already have my FM ready for Alex!
Either your going to get random fps drops for no reason simply because your in online mode
or your going to have disconnection issues
or your going to wait eons to find a online match
or maby juuuust maby you will be perfectly fine
at first i was happy that supers have a purpose again. then i noticed how some EX moves are easy to confirm or are really safe so might as well use those. but you gain meter so fast that if you manage right, you can use both EX and eventually super effectively.
the only thing i think still needs some work is throws and just hear me out. i get this is a new game and there’s white life but that doesn’t make up for shit throws. what i would like to see is either slightly longer throw ranges since throws are a terrible 5f startup and can get beat by most jabs. this would help a little with tick throws since most walk speeds are very slow. second, it’s bad enough throws are rare and the only real danger they pose right now is the fear if you do a counter hit instead of throw so they get hit that way, but i feel people will gravitate more and more towards just taking the throw so they avoid less damage and stun AND recover faster than you recover from throwing them. this kills your momentum big time and going the white life route if your character has a decent overhead is the only way to make up for it. if throws had a slightly longer knockdown time (not like SF4 HKD) then you could keep some momentum but not enough to do that vortex shit. hell if they had just enough knockdown time to keep some momentum i wouldn’t mind the 5f startup. end rant.
the game has been very entertaining otherwise and still offers some challenging execution with certain combos and of course learning new strategies. not happy with launch disaster but game design wise, i’m liking it.
Throws out prioritize anything button wise. There’s also 2f of throw invincibility when you are leaving the ground, hitstun and blockstun. Just like in SF4. And outside of startup throws recover in 18 frames, and can differ per character. Then there’s the reversal game. They would probably have to make more things throw invincible to compensate longer throw ranges. I like it like this.
Fun. I missed out on the beta so I have some catching up to do, but I like it way more than I thought I would. Now, if only I could figure out how to watch my own freakin’ replays.
The most insulting thing of all is in Australia the PRICE COSTS MORE THAN ANY OTHER NEW RELEASE
AND THERE’S NOT EVEN A SINGLE PLAYER OR WORKING ONLINE ON DAY 1
We have the right to be aggrived I work hard for my money this game is piece of shit to anyone other than a fanboy
they out prioritize on same frame maybe but if done at the same time, jabs are always faster and will always beat them. SFII had 0 frame throws, SFIII had 2-3 frame throws and they weren’t broken. i’m wondering if many players here like cr.jab so much because they think that’s how you beat throws or something. the way it always was in SF was if you were that close to the other player, throw was the best move for good reason. if you didn’t want to get thrown, you reversal or jumped, both being risky options. with such easy reversal timing and inputs, there’s really no reason to nerf throws.
Funny you mention lights. I actually don’t do them that often. I probably should but I don’t. SF5 isn’t as reliant on throws. They are more like a “bonus”. Once I break the habit of throwing a fair amount then it’s gona be CC city.
Boy did Capcom shoot themselves in the foot on this launch.
How many potential newcomers saw the ad on Steam and thought “hey, Street Fighter! I remember that. Let me check the reviews and forums real quick!” only to be blown away by the negative response from the OTHER newcomers that didn’t check that first, bought it, and was hugely disappointed. Not only could they not use their joysticks, there was no singleplayer content to be had. That is, if you managed to log on and you had a good enough computer. Ridiculous keybinds that can’t be changed too.
The loss of potential customers must be enormous.
For me this first impression was on par with MKX.
With that said, yesterday was more stable and I was really enjoying myself!
Sorry, but no, no and again no.Never in history.
MKX launch (at least, on PC) wins the cake. SFV fixed his online and servers problems in like two days, MKX still sucks on pc, plus they just said “well, who give a shit, no support or content anymore for you pc players, just suck it”.
SFV’s lack of content is a fact, but bugs and online wise, i think it has one of the best netcode i have experienced in a fighting game.
Never imagine how the crossplay is actually well done in this game, sure sometimes you get some lag spikes, but to me a crossplay pc-console at this level never existed. And it is a thing that need to be pointed out.
