Nova Question And Answer Thread

Hmm, using both assists? I rarely use both in one combo, they almost always start with plasma beam (those that don’t either start with cold star or a clean hit which I follow up with cold star into a crumple). If your tech works off combos that start with plasma beam that would be great.

In general the cold star ender is:
(After j.S) 6H call Ammy 2 or 5HS xx 6239M

Crouching or standing H is character-specific. Hope this works!

wb the crumple set up
then j.S, f+H, call doom, H, Cent Rush M
crumple set up is
cr.M + Ammy, st.H, wavedash twice, Rocket Punch H

ok i have shitty execution so im just going to share what i found…

the tech is that if you use any powered pulse <30% in the corner (usually after cent rush M but not limited to,) you can either qcb.L (height dependant but easy enough!) or S and TK super nova!

whats good about this is that it allows assists to cool down and thus allow DHCs that wouldnt normally work, better meter gain to ensure that you get to DHC and in certain cases allow more one touch kills! (for my team its dead vergil for one meter off cr.L!!!)

ill showcase what i found using marvelos team (nova b, doom a, strider Y?) non tech combo first, tech combo second.

j.H, land, strider assist y, H, S, TK dp.L, H, S, j.H, qcb.S, j,H, j.S, land, f.H, doom assist a, S, TK dp.M, dp.H, dp.Hyper. (825,100) - DHC to Sphere Flame (980,100.)

j.H, land, strider assist y, H, S, TK dp.L, H, S, j.H, qcb.S, j,H, j.S, land, f.H, doom assist a, S, TK dp.M, qcf.M (any powered pulse <30%,) S, TK dp.Hyper. (832,200) - DHC to Sphere Flame (987,200.)

again not claiming its anything huge but…the more you nova!!!

Yeah, I figured that out a while ago. This isn’t very optimal since it was so long about but whatever.

Sick idea to use Strider to get a TK Cent Rush L early in the combo though. Going to experiment with that.

it kills vergil! optimal enough for me!

^^ DEAD ASS. When I practice combos, I’m literally always saying to myself “It kills everyone that matters” when my damage breaks 850

Wolvie/Nova/Doom/Morrigan/Spencer don’t matter? >_>

They’ll die from the DHC

That’s what I get for visiting this forum on no sleep  lol

Hey guys got a quick but important question, I’ve recently picked up nova in my main team, i took it online and discovered my nova movement leave a lot to be desired. Before this i played him casually and got some basic stuff down, but since i picked him up i intend to get more serious about it, so how do u guys move around the the screen and open people up? I’ll be watching videos in the meantime trying to pick up hints here and there.

Oh i play Zero-a/Nova-b/Vergil-y just so you guys know

Step #1: Pick someone on that team…and drop them. YOU NEED a horizontal assist.

can nova break 1 million solo with two bars without using >30% red life? the best im getting is 990k solo with <10% red life.

Quick question for Marvelo or anyone who uses this incoming mixup:

So the mixup in question is after snapping or finishing a character, you do a Javelin, cr. M, call beam (Vergil Rapid Slash in my case), and do light Centurion Rush. The Light Centurion Rush has a huge hitbox so that it hits behind Nova and crosses the opponent up. It looks really awesome.

Anyways when I do this incoming after a snapback, it’s really easy because you can simply press Javelin as fast as possible and do the rest of the mixup with perfect timing. When I watched the recent BrokenTier video with Marvel vs. Noel Brown, I noticed that after DHCing into Sphere Flame, Marvelo tagged Nova in immediately and performed the mixup and it worked with perfect timing as well.

It becomes harder to do this mixup after a kill in awkward situations. Do you guys know of any way to time this incoming mixup after a Super Nova? I know the timing of the kill for the Super Nova can differ, but I’m wondering if you guys have any tricks or anything for some situations haha. I want to be able to throw the Javelin so that the opponent is discouraged from air dashing on incoming. If the Javelin timing is off, then the mixup is not as potent. Manually timing the Javelin feels like manual timing a safe jump setup in Street Fighter. I just want as tight of an incoming mixup as possible.

tl;dr: Are there any Nova specific ‘safe jump’ style setups for incoming

As of now, the answer is no. My best is like 932 without red health

Ok, question to people who play Nova/Ammy.

Which GPulse do you use for that setup? For some reason I’ve always used Light but if you have some red life it might actually mess the combo up because it’ll push them too far for cold star to hit properly. However, what I accidentally figured out yesterday is that if you use the Heavy version, not only does it not mess it up but it actually deals more damage and builds more bar (obviously), and it still combos perfectly. Using Doctor Doom for the rawtag, if I start the combo with Nova’s j.L IOH, I can build exactly 2 bars which always guarantees a DHC into Super Nova and kills everyone at the 1m hp range, leaving the 1050 HP chars (Spencer, Frank and Capt) with like 20 HP that can easily be chipped. You might actually kill these three characters too, it kind of depends on Photon Array since it’s damage is fairly random. Was I just doing it wrong all this time?

I only use Grav Pulse L to set up the crumple as a hit confirm. To that end, Grav Pulse H does not connect at higher hit stun. It also will not connect on much of the cast. On normal-size characters you can use it once Cold Star is hitting but the link after that is tighter than necessary, and if you do an optimal combo you’ll kill 1050HP characters every time anyway. Just a matter of finding the sweet spot on Photon Array after the ground bounce extension.

If you do find something consistently more damaging though let me know.

Hey everyone I’m having trouble with Nova’s glitch unfly, I get the correct inputs most of the time on screen but the H sometimes doesn’t come out. Any solution to this?

Don’t treat it like you’re cancelling into a special move. Input it slightly after the hitstop of the previous move and it should work.

thanks for the help. I see the improvement after the delay.

Not really a question but just wanted to say that Nova board is the best. Thanks you guys I was able to get 7th at my first runback from practicing a lot and from all the information that’s on this board. Hopefully I’ll keep improving!
