Balltappers game history from most recent to further in the past as much as i can remember:
TTT2 - stopped playing because a person mentioned something law can do that was broken
Injustice - stopped playing because patch came out that made wake-up moves easier
SSFIV - stopped playing because focus attack is abuseable
SFxT - stopped playing, don’t remember the reasoning
Umvc3 - stopped playing because “bad play is rewarded” and XFactor is stupid, doesn’t teach anything
MvC3 - stopped playing when Umvc3 came out
Currently playing KOF13 and 3rd strike
still likes mvc2 for some reason, even though theirs really only a few teams in that game that mean anything at higher lvl play, fewer then umvc3 for sure.
Now i mention these because, for one, Balltapper isn’t a random scrub that doesn’t play the game and comes to troll. Doesn’t play it currently, but he’s played it. But the main reason i needed to mention this is because, it doesn’t take much to make him drop a game, and while we all know umvc3 isn’t a perfect game, it’s definitely still evolving, and that says a lot for a game that hasn’t gotten patched since it’s debut.
Also saying akuma or taskmaster is an “optional” anchor over phoenix in vanilla is like saying magneto is an optional anchor over vergil in ultimate. Sure, he has his options while running solo with no assists and XF3 to boost him, but are they really on par with each other?
The wolverine thing is just silly. The ricky ortiz is only logical when killing their final character or when taking out the highest priority on the opponents team (possibly a snapped anchor vergil). Berserker slash with invulnerabilty every time it’s used beats out a one time use instant overhead that requires the most precious resource you have in a match - XFactor. With an assist, that instant overhead is confirmable either way.
I agree on how vanilla dantes execution vs ultimates doom and vergil is a decent reason to give him an air lariat, and in that game dante still wasn’t really broken when haggar lariat and tron gustaf fire were completely invincible assists, with phoenix as broken as she was, and the lack of air XFactor giving 5 dormammu hyper-balls-of-chip gave a balance to dantes abilities. Which brings me to the next point of agreement/arguement.
Ultimate XF is not a nerf to vanilla. It was a buff. TAC’s leading to infinites, a free meter or deducting a meter from the opponent, and the TAC tech using XF to basically nullify your opponents tac break is one of the reasons that it’s a buff. BT already pointed out that everyones health was nerfed, and a lot of characters can TOD now or do a TAC infinite to kill, and thus XF is not ever needed to kill still and can be used as a guard break, guard break protection, lol vergil, the aforementioned tech, anti-phoenix tech of other variants, strider usefulness, or to guarantee the final characters death if you happen not to have the meter or just want to ignore the need for good execution in that final kill. In my previous mention of the dormammu hyper balls, i feel the air XF was kinda needed, but they should have completely removed the damage buff itself, leaving chip nullification and maybe the speed boost which gives the damage buff alone (through normally impossible combos/infinites that would scale down to shit wasting the XF time).
