Will it be out within 1 or 2 weeks before Aug 22nd?
Tekken 6 isn’t coming out until fall, I would say at the earliest the first week of September.
Supposedly they’ve been doing well on development schedules though, so we’ll see.
I meant the date is very far away from today.
Still…I feel a gas bubble of hope welling.
I check Tekken Zaibatsu and I was wondering if you could post up to gauge the communities interest in having Tekken at the tournament. Something like 36 Tekken players at EVO last Summer, and the impending release of BR makes me wonder if they will really be interested.
If its possible, it would be great to know if they are interested within 3 weeks to 1 month from now.
I don’t think there will be a problem having people show up for Tekken. The scene does their own thing but they showed up strong last year, I don’t see why not for this year especially if they wanna send DR out with a bang before BR drops.
I asked them to stop by and vote, gave a direct link to the stickied thread here.
Here’s hoping!
Thanks Matt.
Well, apparently “summer” starts in late June, so if it keeps with a summer release date, it’s entirely possible that BlazBlue will come out (on console) in time for this event. Nothing official beyond just “summer” yet, though I imagine one of us will post here if something more specific is announced.
I’d be pretty psyched about it, and since we have a BB arcade machine nearby and quite a few GG players in the area, I imagine many others would be, as well.
We have a pretty strong GG scene in the NW.
I don’t particularly care about Blazblue, but I wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention.

I know there’s no real information on Blazblue’s console release, however, this thread came from a person who has playtested a newer version of the game recently. And so with that said, if the game is out before Evolution, that would give peeps more than a month to try to dissect that game. Enough time to gain confidence to enter a tourney. I know better than to assume that people would want this over GGXX, but that’s why I made this post, to start discussion. What do peeps think?
I’ve heard BlazBlue might be out by June. I guess we’ll know more in a few months but it would definitely be great to include it. If it comes out by June, I definitely think it should be on the roster.
Since we don’t know for sure about KOF XII right now (what the hype/scene around it will be like, other specifics) I don’t think it should be put on the roster just yet, since there is still time to include it.
The Smash players I have talked to are all unanimous about having Melee over Brawl, since it is a more competitive and loved game. I know there is some concern about how the scenes don’t have much overlap, but I think it is really imporant that the Smash community be given the chance to come participate and rep for their game since the community is so strong and organized in our region. Our region also has players who play at a very high level, and SF4 is bringing interest from all gaming communities, so I think its more imporant then ever that we include them.
So the first 6 are looking to be-
Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter 3: 3rd Stirke
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Guilty Gear: Accent Core
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Before I send this list Axel to put up on the site, I’d still like to hear everyone’s opinion on the first 6. Keep in mind there are still time and space to include games like Tekken, CVS and KOF. For now though, I think this is a strong first six that reaches a lot of different gaming communities and can really start to get people excited about the tournament.
Axel, I’ll get you the other info you asked for a little later.
We should mimic evo, as in not have Smash anywhere near the venue. Unless I get to bone the hot barely legal emo girls that may just happen to play the game. GG and SFIV should bring HELLA people. Smash would just add to the madness. IMOz.
If you wanted that, you should have just got a bunch of DDR machines for NWM!
We could have an ALL YOU CAN QUAFF competition.
fixed
I say let the Smash people have their day. Pre-Reg w/ money down should show their dedication.
That being said, there better be someone in their squad who knows how to run a Smash tourney and steps up on this site.
Otherwise…fuckaSmash.
Smash takes freaking forever to run. No one ever dies in that game.
Does smash really still have a scene? With the failure of Brawl, all the guys that I know who used to be serious melee players totally gave up on it, essentially. A year ago, I think all the arguments you guys are making about it helping boosting attendance would have been great, but these days I dunno…
Anyway, I totally messed up my vote and forgot to select KOFXII, so give that a +1.
Also, I’m not as convinced as you guys that SCIV is a bad idea. I mean, I’ll admit I basically quit the game, too similar to VF5 and I didn’t like the differences. But, it was getting a pretty decent turnout at Preppy’s last fall. Seems like with Evo including it, there’s bound to be people still playing. I’d definitely pick it back up if two major tournies over the summer were including it… I mean, I don’t really dislike it, I just didn’t have enough time to practice and get better, and then Remix came out, and noone would dedicate a TV to it anymore…
Is it too late to vote?
^Nah go for it. There’s no time limit on the poll.
