SFxT is a mess of a game. Other than the size of the scene which is arguably a catch 22 with barrier of entry and execution, there isn’t a problem with KOFXIII. I would rather my past-time reward me for the work I put in rather than slap me in the face with boredom and randomness.
Telling evidence would be that a dragon punch has a referenced use in the SFxT guide as an “anti-poke” move. What the fuck is an anti poke move? Oh yeah mash that out between blocked normals. GOOD GAME GOOD GAME.
KOF = chess
SFIV = checkers
Marvel = lottery
SFxT = turn-based action rpg
SRK = tabloid
Roski = too old for stupid shit
Question for everyone…
I have an idea that I have been sitting on but I wanted to run by everyone. How do you guys feel about having ReSe RanBats state wide? I have not talked to any other to’s about this at all yet. I just wanted to put feelers out to see what everyone thought about it.
Basically it would work like this:
Say EZ and WNB were on board. Each event would play for points and once a month we would all come together to play for a majority of points. I was thinking it could be for EVO 2013 and we could send a bunch of people out there. I won’t share any fine details until it’s a go but I need to see what everyone thinks about it.
If I get a good response then I will contact other TO’s and see if they would like to do this. If everyone is behind it then I will have other people in cities around NC start them up.
EVO EVO EVO EVO EVO. If that is not enough then how does Japan sound? It is doable!!
So what are your thoughts on this and who would be interested?
I just watched the marvel matches from ReSe. Jon you did good!!!
I still like playing for money more than points, if you think about it, say you win the tournament every week and go home with 100 or so. If there are (just a random number out of my ass) 70 weeks between here and Evo 2013, I’d be sitting on 7000 profit, which I could easily take myself to Vegas with. It’s actually more cost effective for tournament winners to just get a cash payout. Of course not everyone’s tournament experience involves taking money home every week, so that might not be on the radar for a lot of people. Also with cash payout, you don’t get set back so much if you miss a week or two because of other obligations.
Thinking about it, I only have to win about 7-10 WNBs to pay for my next evo trip. Ranbats would be quite a few more.
As far as your points about SFxT, with how strong the jab pressure is, you almost need the DPs. I don’t think they really make as big a difference in SFxT though, footsie is way more rewarding in that game than in SF4, which is why I think it’s a better game personally. cr.MK leading to a full combo vs cr.MK leading to a fireball makes cr.MK more of a threat in SFxT. Plus with punishes being huge in this game in comparison, DPs aren’t as good in this game. Even if you tag cancel you can get happy birthdayed for having your DP blocked. (unless you’re Akuma and possibly Ken and have multi hit DPs)
lol thanks man. Every time I see a Viewtiful Joe now, I think of yours and think… this player is a fraud!
It also gets rid of all recoverable health. I figure that I need to take advantage of the shit I hate in this game (time overs being so prominent), and doing cross arts into Misogi does that pretty well lol. I’m not sure if that game is going to be good without an expansion, but it says in the menu for the store that it’s definitely going to get one, so maybe it’ll work out. There were some horrible character design choices though (Yoshimitsu).
Haha thanks I appreciate it. But whether my Viewfiful Joe is better or not is irrelevant. The comeback factor of Dieminion’s Morrigan is just too strong to ignore. To me that was what put him over edge against you and Noel. She’s is easily the most threatening character on his team.
Morrigan is easily top 10 or 15. I don’t see why people aren’t using her more. I guess doing fireball fly fireball unfly fireball can be a bit too much over the course of a tournament. Filling the screen with a bunch of hitboxes is really good.
Hey guys. We’ve just recently started a group located in Asheville, NC. We mainly communicate externally however so I’m going to put the FB and official site up here. Look forward to meeting you guys! We’re looking to hold some local tournaments in the near future once we get a location settled. Also, the not smelling like rancid ass is heavily enforced, please bathe. We’re very respectful towards each others respective games - SF players can sit next to MK players for instance and not have SRK-esque squabbles. This is extremely important to us. If you can’t adhere to this, then you’re not going to be a good fit.
WNC is alive, small at the moment, but alive none the less!

Shoutouts to the guys who came to ECU Saturday. I know the skill level wasn’t all that great, but after talking to some of the guys it looks like a spark was lit and people want to level up. Also, a lot of people want to start playing KOF which is always a good thing. We will have an actual tournament with cash payouts in April. I will post it once we get all the details settled.
Nate seemed pretty cool. There were a couple others that didn’t seem to have the skill, but seemed to be trying to learn. That AJ guy was straight hot garbage though.
Anyone playin SC5 this week?
So are you saying that people who win enough matches can get a free trip to EVO when it’s around? I’m interested in that, but at the same time I like it in Greensboro as that is the most feasible place for me to go.
I want to echo this and say thanks to everyone who showed up. The turnout was better than I could have expected, and it seemed like everyone was enjoying it.
On April 21st there will be a tournament with some money behind it. Right now it’s looking like SSF4:AE/UMvC3 with a $5 entry fee for each, but either Jin or I will be making a full info post once everything is concrete.
Dammit, I knew when he said April with my luck it’d be the 21st.
Yeah, it was definitely Morrigan that got me. If I was better at staying on top of people with Strider and also converting those air oroboros hits (I learned how to last night lol), I think it would have went differently. If I run into him again I’m just going to snap her in. Gotta treat that character like dark phoenix. The worst part was when he was in astral vision and I had strider full screen away with like 50% health. I knew I couldn’t block anything or I’d just get pinned down and die. 50% of striders health is like… 4-6 morrigan fireballs probably lol
Also I never really get to run into stranges all that much so I don’t have a lot of experience lightning looping him, but he’s apparently the heaviest character, so some of Zero’s combos don’t even work on him. Been in the lab trying to find alternatives, but atleast that explains why he kept falling out.
IM UP FOR IT!!!
Alright everyone…is that day of the week again, you know the deal Come out, have fun, level up, and enjoy yourselves!!!

lol. We should have some folks from the team out there tomorrow. I know I’m in there for that Marvel. Seeing who else is rolling with me now.
Also, I know I’m new (a 3mo. old in the game) but why can everybody just appreciate all the fighting games. Seems like the best time to be in the FGC with so much variety. I’m not saying Marvel is harder than KOF or any other game. Once you unlock the first gate of Marvel lol, you realize it’s alot deeper than can be seen by the untrained eye. It’s crazy how technical some people are about the game. And that alot of the crazyness I dismissed as crazy & random before I even gave the game a shot, I now see how and why things happened. You can get away with more in Marvel but, against a superior player, you’ll still get bodied…as I have…(1st Round at ReSe this weekend vs. Launchpad…it was like playing against the computer on Impossible lol).
People like easy entry with advanced tactics you can add to your game as you go (and will have to add if you want to be competitive in tournaments).
The other BFP guys told me SF was chess and Marvel was checkers. (Blue said Marvel was I Declare War lol)
But the lottery tho…LOL.
I respect all players and all games. The most mainstream/popular games/scenes will always be either (A) the game that’s the most inviting or (B) the game with the most rabid fanbase that recruits others. It will never be © the game with the fanbase than looks down on other games as a king looks down at peasants.
The world don’t move to the beat of just one drum.
What may be right for you, may not be right for some.
They’ll have theirs, and you’ll have yours, and I’ll have mine.
And together we’ll be fine…
Because it takes diff’rent strokes to move the world.
Just my 2 cents. humbly backs out of room
