I want to see how the thumbstick method is going to work. Will it only work for as long as the thumbdrive is plugged in? Will it autoread? If so, how will it know which player those gems are for? Will you have to navigate menus? Commendable that Capcom is going to such lengths even prior to release though.
Damn Jon that was quick. What happen to Me and You vs the World? I guess im Scott Pilgrim
now!
Oh, after all that has been said in this thread im happy we can come to the conclusion that 3rd Strike is the best game ever made!
Bitch move Jon, bitch move.
You would have won with viola if you used her at WNB cause my power lvl was under 9000 after I beat her but I guess we will never know now.
im not going to chime in on the GG debate because im honestly happy its coming to a current gen console, I actually really liked the game but my PS2 stick broke right around the time KoFXII came out and I got heavy into DR so that tells on itself.
the only thing I wanna say is
Sofa: HIS NAME IS JIO!!! I mean not jumping down your throat or nothing bro but for someone who LOVES Tekken I would think you would know who one of the top players a state away was. Tennessee is Jio, Trungy. and lil_Majin. Learn the regions, learn who their players are…then talk about being part of the larger community please. sorry that was bothering me. but yeah, youre good for FR
Glad to see the entertainment is back in the NC threads again. Keep it up for the next few pages please.

OJ vs Die
ReSe Tournament
That is the question cause most systems only have 2 USB’s. I wonder if it will be something like you hit a button to upload, unplug your controller and it auto detects, uploads, then tells you it’s done and you plug your controller back in. All of that could be done from the character/ Jem select screen is. The tough thing is that only one person can do it at a time but it shouldn’t be too long
Who knows though. I still think it should just be the default that way no one has to buy anymore if they don’t want and it keeps it from seeing Jems you didn’t even know were out there cause apparently there are hundreds.
USB hub?
USB hubs are expensive for decent ones that don’t mess up mid way. I have tried out a couple cheap $7 ones and they would give out while you were playing.
Haha, Its all good bro. Tony (ZTS) mentioned him but I didn’t think about asking him how Jio spelled his name before him and Zack left. I also posted right after the tournament asking if anyone knew how he exactly spelled his name and never being corrected I assumed “Geo” was right lol.
But yeah, I’m looking for Jio for reasons not pertaining to Tekken.
Titanium Beast => Order Sol
Zoogstin => Zappa
Frank the Tank => May (or how I like to call her “Metal May”)
You made that comment as if I didn’t know who they were, but once I found out would be completely afraid of them. Its the exact opposite. Plus GG is an entirely different story with me, so I’ll watch how this XBL/PSN deal plays out.
But it seems ranting is the only way to get someone’s attention here if you’re not willing to kiss up to someone. I ask questions, posted on the boards to players, and have asked all three about playing GG, with no response minus Austin. He’s out of the state now. Even when I first got on SRK I said I don’t mine driving out, but if no one plays or responds that they play any of the games you mention what else can you do to find players?
Matt won’t admit it, but he seemly holds a grudge for whatever reason. Considering I never had one against him. It was his advice that I even got on SRK in the first place. But its all cool cause its all drool.
And just because someone claims to be “good” at a video game doesn’t equal respect. Whether you’ve been playing fighting games for 10 years or 10 days, EVERYONE is equal in my eyes unless they deem fit to degrade themselves. I’ll think you’re an awesome person because you are an awesome person, not because you’re “good” at a video game.
But aside all that what I said I meant and won’t back down from what I said nor continue on with it. I’ll let time handle the rest. I’m gonna try to become a temporary Durham resident so maybe I’ll see you around Lu. It’ll be cool to see you again at Final Round if not Durham. Later.
You guys won’t be dropping Blazblue when Guilty Gear comes out, will you? They are super different games, after all, but I’m still scared for the games I enjoy.
Also, what’s the consensus on Ryo in KoFXIII?
Ryo’s got a nice DP and nice damage with his juggle combos in the corner with for very little drive/meter. Besides that and his parry there’s nothing that makes him stand out at all.
He’s yet another casualty of the homogenization of KOF 13.
I try to play all the things.
I don’t know much (yet!) but his fireball seems great at pressure in the corner. Not entirely sure about his neutral game though.
I won’t drop Blazblue. Not that it matters since I’m not in NC. Just saying.
He not bad at all. I strongly believe that being good at this game out ways your character alot.
If anybody around the greensboro/triad area (or wherever I guess) is looking to get in some guilty gear practise; instead of just waiting for the psn version to come out like the online mode will somehow help you more than some quality time in front of the ps2 will…
hit me up FOR REAL. Fuck playing online anyway when there is real comp around? If you’re serious about playing GG, there is no reason to wait, it’s BEEN out, NC has strong enough comp to not only teach you the game but hook you on it like cheap dope (Matt, Garret, Blakem etc are all fantastic players but don’t sleep just because you’re not fighting them, I can still bust some heads in this game). I’d be personally willing to open up my place as early as tomorrow and definitely this coming weekend if there is interest.
This goes out to Sol/Will (fayetteville crew) especially if you’re reading, it’d be great to have you out, show you how we roll in Greensboro if you haven’t left yet, if you have a certain vice just hit me up beforehand and we can work something out.
anybody who i remember from the old GG crew (the first game I took seriously at all) is more than welcome to come or organize some shit and I’ll drive out. I once drove 3 1/2 hours just for a gathering at Frank’s house to play a little melty, best believe I’ll poke my head out for some gg.
Unfortunately… when it comes to fighters, there are grades of people almost like that of a monarchy. If you suck you don’t get to say blanket statements until you prove yourself. That can take time. I know this from personal experience. NC used to get no respect at all, weather it was due to play style or theories on some of our states unorthodox play when it can to certain games. If you really want to be great at fighters in this community, you have to “humble” yourself. That also includes sometimes acting as if you don’t know so people can just tell you what you’ve heard over again. Practice, practice, practice will get you everywhere (Traveling for exposure also). Soon you’ll be able to find the right people to practice with that will not shut you down or just fit a practice style that will be comfortable for you. Some people love to get beat a lot in order to learn. Some like to have specialized instruction. Find your preference and find the type of player that will click with that and go from there. Don’t worry about anyone else until it gathering/tourney time. I guess the bottom line is growth. Everyone here wants to see everyone else grow even if their egos and actions don’t tell that story. NC is one of the most talkative states on SRK. It is one reason we’re good and bad lol. No discretion whatsoever.
Seriously Mike, I NEVER remember you asking me to play GG. BB, yes, GG, no.
And I don’t ask people to respect me because I say I’m good at a game. If you don’t respect me, that’s fine. It doesn’t change the fact that I can body you hardcore at these games. It has nothing to do with personal respect, that’s a totally different subject. Best believe that regardless of any personal respect I may or may not have for you, I would respect you as an FPS player because I’ve heard you’re really good at them and I’m pretty sure you would beat me handily if we played. You saying that you don’t respect me just because I’m good at GG just says to me that you’re another victim. Because if and when we play GG, I will not demand your respect, I will COMMAND it as I destroy you repeatedly, and if you still say “whatever, that doesn’t earn my respect”, then you’ll never be able to actually learn anything from me.
But anyway, your problem with these games has more to do with your unwillingness to actually practice the things you need to practice to be good, and the fact that you don’t “respect” people who are clearly better than you just serves as a barrier for you to get any better, because those same people don’t want to waste their time playing your or giving you advice. You’re entitled to your opinions here and nobody can stop you from saying what you want, but the more you run your mouth without anything to back it up, the more you will be shunned from this community. My advice to you would be, keep your views internal for the time being, show up to the few gatherings that are open and show up to tournaments, demonstrate a good attitude, and things will start to fall into place.
Yes…you have the potential to gain something anytime you play anything. All depends on how you approach the situation. Fun factor is something completely different. I play games for fun but do not enjoy playing someone if they’re really bad. That does not equal fun to me. Like for example…if I’m playing someone who just rotates their stick uncontrollably and mashes buttons in hopes that one of their moves comes out…not fun. It’s no challenge. In the FGC you have die hard gamers who…just aren’t good…then you have players who place in tournaments consistently. Playing bad players can develop bad habits because they aren’t playing the matchups correctly and you become comfortable with getting away with things a competent player wouldn’t let you do. “Some” people enjoy destroying scrubs and getting 30+ win streaks. Me personally I want to win but that just gets boring. Also, you gotta remember we’re talking about money when you’re talking about a good player. Good players are going to want to improve and the best way to do that is by playing people that can challenge them and make them better at said game. If you were to go to a session with a bunch of 5 year olds and play games all day…would that be fun? Yea you’d end up with 0 losses at the end of the day but you would have gained nothing. That’s kind of like Daigo coming out to a Gamestop session to have “fun” playing street fighter.
I actually don’t know anyone who actually plays fighting games that enjoys destroying scrubs, the people who do seem to enjoy doing that tend to drop the game after a week or two when they can no longer beat everyone with cheese. But yeah if I’m not getting getting really excited or raging about some bullshit your doing I’m not really having fun. Normally the rage comes from me not understanding how to deal with whatever your throwing at me, and excitement is after I know how to deal with your bullshit and it is still a close match. But still even if I’m raging it’s fun cause I’m learning new stuff about the game, though I have to say playing against new players in melty made me get tech punishing down this last week…I never actually was good at it, because nobody in NC teched shit ever in the PS2 days.
GG on the 360/PS3 sounds good here, a few guys here play the game on the Wii everyday. It will be nice not having to try to do Dizzy FRC shit on a gamecube controller.
