Personally I think Takuma right below the top tier, along with Shen. I pretty much agree with Blake’s opinions on why Takuma isn’t top, mainly the defensively weak part.
Top tier to me is Kyo, EX Iori, Benimaru, Andy , K’ right now.
That said, the entire cast can legitimately compete in KOF, so not being top tier isn’t a real problem. I think even Maxima and Terry can compete.
Went to practice mode again with takuma. 3 cr.b’s to [ex] hien-shin-pu-kyaku is candy to rot the mouth out. If you get caught in the corner and this guy has 1 drive stock and 1 super stock you can lose half. Thats fucked up.

Post the combo. Max I got was 471 off of cr.B’s with 1 stock and 1 Drive. Which is still really good, but requires corner. Midscreen you don’t get as much.
Comparatively, K’ gets 495 in the corner off of 3 cr.B’s for 1 stock and 1 Drive. This doesn’t make Takuma worse or anything, it just shows that it’s no longer a unique thing for him.
Nevermind, found a combo off of cr.Bs with Takuma that does 607, only need to start with 1 bar and 50% Drive, needs corner. Similar to Iori’s corner command grab combos, SNK really needs to get a handle on building bar during combos, as that’s a consistent problem across most KOFs.

Yeah, do that. Id like to get some different looks @ K’. Im Seriously thinking about Playing Him on My Main Team. Not quite such yet though, I Play a more Aggressive style then must People and He can Rushdown but it seems like He’s more of a Set-up type Character to Me. I could be wrong though, either way Id like to See whatcha got with Him Combo wise. Ive committed to Muscle-Memory the Takuma 90%, 1 Meter HD Combo as of this Morning. Im sorry, that shits BEAST. lol
I mean, I never said Takuma was bad. He’s a good character. There are lots of good characters in this game.
K’ is a good character too. His nerfs from arcade seem pretty evident, though. He’s more reliant on meter now, but he’s also more suited to point than any of my other characters right now. Working on some other characters in the meantime.
I was wondering if I should keep Benimaru on my team but after I saw he can do half life for 1 stock in the corner I was sold. The combo in question goes like this:
j.D, 5D xx 236AC, 2369A x 6, 236C, 236D > 28D
It’s pretty much just a bunch of tk raijinkens (I’m not sure what the max number of reps are I’ve only seen up to 6). I’m feeling pretty comfortable with my team of Daimon/Benimaru/Shen.
It’s easier for me to host since I can’t go anywhere lol. I think Ed was hosting too though, so folks in Durham/farther west might want to go there if he still is.
I should be back in Raleigh in time to host at 6:30. I can run up to three setups (two lagless, one slight lag) if folks can bring systems. I’m thinking it’ll be just Jon/myself/possibly one or two others though.
Have to still figure out who my best characters are. Seems like they vary in usefulness depending on who I’m playing against lol. And hm, need to see what my damage totals are to compare to that. Mai gets almost 650 with HD alone, Yuri 800…but damage hasn’t won a number of the matches I’ve seen and played. We may just not be there yet.
So apparently the combo I was talking about earlier can be turned into a loop and 100% off of pretty much any opening granted that you start with 2 stock and 65% drive.
Very nice! I have had beinmaru as bottom S top A since the game came out. His only problem is he gets zoned out quite easy at high level play. Your best move long range is qcb+AC but that burns a whole meter to get a full screen knockdown. Super nice though. Corner=death.
You the second person to tell me that Beni can get zoned out, how so? A lot of times I just do 2369A to absorb a projectile while advancing forward at the same time, if I have meter I do 214AC and j.D is fairly hard to AA without a DP. Just wanna know what makes him easy to zone out at high levels. There are characters with even less options to get around projectiles but nobody ever says they’re easy to zone out.
