Like I said on facebook, it’s really not your team, you just need to work on your offense a bit more and your risks / decision making in some situations.
Like a good example, you know I like to do cr.D into A fireball with Kensou. You hit me with your turn punch once between the two hits, so I know you know this now. So next time I adapt and just do empty sweep and then block, you turn punch and I block and punish. You definitely have to visually confirm your reversals before just going for them since that can get you in trouble. Or say I lurk outside your sweep range and feign like I’m going to rush in, you tend to use turn punch to stop offensive movement from players at that range, so I exploit that and get free punishes. It’s definitely not a poke though so you should stick with safer moves like standing D and what not to cover that space that won’t get you killed on block.
I know how that goes mentally too because you might catch 2-3 reversals and be like “ok it’s cool to do this” but especially in a game with high damage like KoF, the risk reward is not in your favor. If I eat 3-4 turn punches, I don’t give a shit, because now it’s in your head that I’m going to get hit by it, and you’re probably going to do it again if I continually bait it, and that’s GG if I have HD bar.
So look at it like this, you continually have to guess to get reversals when used in that manner and you have to hit in upwards of 10 of them to kill a character with just that. It only takes one blocked one to negate all that work in KoF, and just by mathmatical probability, it’s probably not going to go unpunished vs a competent player in KoF that many times. That’s why I personally think reversals are not just something you can throw out willy nilly in KoF like you can in SF. There’s no bail out like with FADC and the damage is WAY higher if you guess wrong. That’s why you must VISUALLY CONFIRM the opponent is doing something before going for it. Guess reversals are ok if you haven’t done one in a while and have a read on the opponent but most of the time I would not suggest doing that.

This right here is why I don’t like KOF 13.
In older KOFs, you couldn’t afford to do something like this. If you give Clark 3 openings in KOF 98/2002/XI, you’ve already lost a character, I’ve built a meter, and your next character is at a big disadvantage.
In KOF 13, if you give Clark 3 openings, you probably only lost about 70% life, and you’re at the very least halfway to building the resources to doing a 90% HD combo on 1 opening.
Well Clark doesn’t need to take openings, he can make them. Someone like Duo Lon is pretty much only capable of hitting people on their own mistakes IMO. Like if you just block vs Duo, I’m pretty much never going to hit you. There’s only 2 reasons I hit people with him… 1 they jumped… 2, they stopped blocking when I was jabbing them up close. Atleast clark has command grabs and auto guards and what not. Plus for a lot of the characters, they have to get a lot of openings, but then one mistake costs them the round, especially later in the game, so I think maybe it’s better to put the characters that need more openings in early game and the ones that pretty much kill off 1 hit with meter in the later slots. Plus you CAN take risks early game since they won’t have meter. So I guess on that line of thinking, Clark would be better first.
Plus on the openings he can force, he can’t HD. Off topic a little but that’s one reason I think Takuma is really good. He can force openings AND turn those openings into death. He just gets rushed down like a middle aged obese karate man when he’s not attacking.

Had a great time at ReSe yesterday. Nice to meet a bunch of the people I have seen post here. KoF 13 is amazing and I had tons of fun in the tournament and casuals. Glad I finally got to make it up there and I will definitely try and make it up next time.

Demo: I understand you like Billy, but he is definitely the weak link on your team at this point in time. Once I figured out what to do, he was almost no threat. Also, again, screw you for putting me in losers. =P
Good stuff to everyone yesterday. I forgot how much I love tournament play, thanks to Tactiks for putting together a really good event. I was quite pleased with the show that James and I put on in XIII considering our limited experience levels, and look forward to learning more and bodying people. Good shit all around.
Best tournament EVAR! Sucks everybody not there missed out on so much stuff that happened, but regardless of the complications that caused that if you were there it was most definitely at tournament you didn’t want to miss. Tekken has got to be my main now, so I’m gonna start grinding even harder now up til Tag2 so T6 and the Tag2 demo will be one or the other trapped inside my PS3. Tekken is one of the best, if not the best, fighting game out right now and the community has to be equally as good. I haven’t met that many great players nor had that much fun at any other tournament game hosting (not that you or anyone else don’t do a good job Brian). Still gonna keep my feet wet with KOF XIII though, its hands down the best 2D fighting game out now (sorry AH3 :().
Also at Final Round someone needs to point me to Geo (if I spelled it correctly). I have a new friend I need to make while down there :D. Still hype I can’t believe its done now, but three days of Tekken I guess would do that for ya. Hopefully there is another one that will be announced sometime in the near future.

And I can’t remember his name (Battlejin or something like that I think) but he offered some great amusement for everyone. Him and all the other stream monsters. I’m gonna stop right there cause I could keep going on and on about all the stuff that happened while there. Still hands down one of the best fighting game tournaments.
